\nT<\/font><\/span>HE<\/span> <\/span>S<\/span>YNTHESIS<\/span> <\/span>OF <\/span>Y<\/span>OGA<\/span> first appeared serially in the Arya<\/i><\/span> from August,
\n1914 to January, 1921 in four parts, preceded by an extensive Introduction in
\nfive chapters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Subsequently the first twelve
\nchapters of Part One, \u201cThe Yoga of Divine Works\u201d, were thoroughly revised and
\nenlarged. With the Introduction excluded they were brought out in book from in
\n1948 by the Sri Aurobindo Library, <\/span>Madras<\/span>. In 1950 the
\nSri <\/span>Aurobindo Library<\/span>, <\/span>New York<\/span>, published them with a Glossary and an Index. The Sri Aurobindo
\nAshram, <\/span>Pondicherry<\/span>, issued these chapters in 1953.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 1955 a complete edition of <\/span>T<\/span>HE<\/span> <\/span>S<\/span>YNTHESIS<\/span> <\/span>OF<\/span> <\/span>Y<\/span>OGA<\/span> was published under the imprint of the Sri
\nAurobindo International University Centre. To the revised version of \u201cThe Yoga of
\nWorks\u201d was added Chapter XIII, a new piece of writing left incomplete by the
\nauthor. Part Two, \u201cThe Yoga of Integral Knowledge\u201d, had been less extensively
\nrevised. Part Three, \u201cThe Yoga of Divine Love\u201d, and Part Four, \u201cThe Yoga of
\nSelf-Perfection\u201d, were reprinted from the Arya<\/i><\/span>, incorporating the minor
\ncorrections found in the author\u2019s copy.<\/span><\/p>\n

This 1955 edition was reprinted in 1957 and 1965. The present <\/span>S<\/span>RI<\/span> <\/span>A<\/span>UROBINDO<\/span> <\/span>B<\/span>IRTH<\/span> <\/span>C<\/span>ENTENARY<\/span> <\/span>L<\/span>IBRARY<\/span> edition is the fourth complete edition.<\/span><\/p>\n

It may be noted here that Sri Aurobindo intended to revise and
\nenlarge \u201cThe Yoga of Divine Love\u201d and \u201cThe Yoga of Self-Perfection\u201d, but did
\nnot find the time for this work. <\/span><\/p>\n
