 <\/p>\n

THE
\n<\/font>FUTURE <\/font>POETRY <\/font>was first
\npublished as a series of essays in the Arya <\/i>from 1917 to 1920. Sri
\nAurobindo thought of revising it before giving it the form of a book. He wished
\nto add even a few chapters, especially dealing with the Metaphysicals and the
\nModern Poets. He was not able to do more than write a few paragraphs
\nsupplementary to matter already treated. Although these have been incorporated
\nin their proper places the book first brought but in 1953 remains for practical
\npurposes a reprint of the original essays. <\/p>\n

LETTERS
\nON <\/font>POETRY<\/font>, LITERATURE AND <\/font>ART
\n<\/font>has been added here as a separate part of the volume for the purposes of
\nthe Centenary Edition. These letters, originally written to disciples, were
\nfirst published in book-form in 1949 as LETTERS OF <\/font>SRI
\n<\/font>AUROBINDO<\/font>, Third Series, by the Sri Aurobindo
\nCircle, Bombay. The present edition has been revised and .considerably enlarged
