\n<\/font>POEMS <\/font>-1915, LOVE AND <\/font>DEATH
\n<\/font>-1921, BAJI <\/font>PRABHOU <\/font>-1932, SIX
\n<\/font>POEMS <\/font>-1934, TRANSFORMATION AND
\n<\/font>OTHER <\/font>POEMS <\/font>-1941, POEMS
\n<\/font>-1941, COLLECTED <\/font>POEMS AND <\/font>PLAYS
\n<\/font>-1942, POEMS <\/font>PAST AND <\/font>PRESENT
\n<\/font>-1946, LAST <\/font>POEMS <\/font>– 1952, and
\nMORE <\/font>POEMS <\/font>– 1957; also ILION
\n<\/font>– 1957. A few other poems found among Sri Aurobindo’s papers are
\npublished here for the first time. All poems published after 1950 are reproduced
\nfrom manuscripts exactly in the form found there. Translations and plays, even
\nwhen in poetic form, are not included here. The plays appear in Volumes, 6′ and
\n7 and the translations in Volume 8. <\/p>\n

\nThe poems in this Volume have been arranged in several sections\u2014 Short Poems,
\nSonnets, Long Poems, Poems in New Metres and Metrical Experiments. Although
\nthese have been sub-divided as far as possible according to the period of
\ncomposition, the periods often overlap as the exact dates are not known. Where
\nthe dates of composition are available they are mentioned in the Contents
\nagainst the title of the poem, otherwise the period is indicated. <\/p>\n

\nThe poems, marked 1890-92, belong to Sri Aurobindo’s student days in England.\n<\/p>\n

\nSri Aurobindo’s essay On Quantitative Metre and a few letters discussing
