Poet,
\nwho first with skill inspired did teach <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Greatness
\nto our divine Bengali speech ,\u2014<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

Divine,
\nbut rather with delightful moan
\nSpring\u2019s golden mother makes when twin-alone <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

She
\nlies with golden Love and heaven’s birds <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Call
\nhymeneal with enchanting words
\nOver their passionate faces, rather these
\nThan with the calm and grandiose melodies <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

(Such
\ncalm as consciousness of godhead owns) <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

The
\nhigh gods speak upon their ivory thrones <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Sitting
\nin council high, \u2014<\/font> till taught by thee <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Fragrance
\nand noise of the world-shaking sea. <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus
\ndo they praise thee who amazed espy
\nThy winged epic and hear the arrows cry
\nAnd journeyings of alarm\u00e8<\/font>d gods ; and due
\nThe praise, since with great verse and numbers new <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Thou
\nmad\u2019st her godlike who was only fair.
\nAnd yet my heart more perfectly ensnare
\nThy soft impassioned flutes and more thy Muse <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

To
\nwander in the honied months doth choose
\nThan courts of kings, with Sita in the grove
\nOf happy blossoms, (O musical voice of love <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Murmuring
\nsweet words with sweeter sobs between!) <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

With
\nShoorpa in the Vindhyan forests green
\nLaying her wonderful heart upon the sod
\nMade holy by the well-loved feet that trod
\nIts vocal shades; and more unearthly bright
\nThy jewelled songs made of relucent light
\nWherein the birds of spring and summer and all flowers <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

And
\nmurmuring waters flow, her widowed hours, <\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

Making
\nmelodious who divinely loved.
\nNo human hands such notes ambrosial moved;
\nThese accents are not of the imperfect earth;
\nRather the god was voiceful in their birth,
\nThe god himself of the enchanting flute,
\nThe god himself took up thy pen and wrote.                   <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
