\nam the god and demon, ghost and elf,<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

     
\n<\/span>I am the wind\u2019s speed and the blazing star.<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

All
\nNature is the nursling of my care,<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

     
\n<\/span>I am its struggle and the eternal rest;<\/p>\n

The
\nworld\u2019s joy thrilling runs through me, I bear<\/p>\n

Thy
\ngolden Light came down into my brain<\/p>\n

        And
\nthe grey rooms of mind sun-touched became
\nA bright reply to Wisdom\u2019s occult plane,<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

       A
\ncalm illumination and a flame.<\/p>\n

Thy golden Light came down into my throat,<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

       And
\nall my speech is now a tune divine,
\nA paean-song of thee my single note;<\/p>\n

      My
\nwords are drunk with the Immortal\u2019s wine.<\/p>\n

Thy golden Light came down into my heart<\/p>\n

      Smiting
\nmy life with Thy eternity;
\nNow has it grown a temple where Thou art<\/p>\n

      And
\nall its passions point towards only Thee.<\/p>\n

\nlove I shared in a million bosoms expressed.<\/p>\n

        <\/span>I am the beast man slays, the beast he saves.<\/p>\n

\nspread life\u2019s burning wings of rapture and pain;<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Black fire and gold fire strove towards one bliss:<\/p>\n

\nrose by them towards a supernal plane<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

        
\n<\/span>Of power and love and deathless ecstasies.<\/p>\n

\ndeep spiritual calm no touch can sway<\/p>\n

Upholds
\nthe mystery of this Passion-play.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Aspiring beyond heaven to Krishna\u2019s feet.<\/p>\n

I
\nhave seen the beauty of immortal eyes,<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>And heard the passion of the Lover\u2019s flute,<\/p>\n

\nknown a deathless ecstasy\u2019s surprise<\/p>\n

Nearer

\n<\/span>Are the common motives of her tragic theme.<\/p>\n

\nwhen shall Krishna\u2019s dance through<\/p>\n

Nature
\nmove, His mask of sweetness, laughter, rapture, love?<\/p>\n

\nthe white summit of eternity<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>A single Soul of bare infinities,<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Guarded he keeps by a fire-screen of peace<\/p>\n

<\/span><\/p>\n

His
\nmystic loneliness of nude ecstasy.<\/p>\n

But,
\ntouched by an immense delight to be,<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>He looks across unending depths and sees<\/p>\n
