\n\t\t\t <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Future Poetry <\/i>was first published in the monthly review
\n\t\t\tArya <\/i>in thirty-two instalments between December 1917 and July
\n\t\t\t1920. These instalments were written immediately before their
\n\t\t\tpublication. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSri Aurobindo twice undertook to revise
\nThe Future<\/i>
\nPoetry<\/i>. During the late 1920s or early 1930s he revised seventeen
\n\t\t\tchapters; in 1950 he dictated changes and additions to twenty
\n\t\t\tchapters, thirteen of which had been revised earlier. The work of
\n\t\t\trevision was never completed and The Future Poetry <\/i>was not
\n\t\t\tpublished in the form of a book during Sri Aurobindo’s lifetime. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn 1953 the Arya <\/i>text of The Future Poetry <\/i>was brought
\n\t\t\tout as a book, with only two passages of the later revision added.
\n\t\t\tIn 1985 an edition incorporating all available revision was
\n\t\t\tpublished.
\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn Quantitative Metre <\/i>was published in 1942 as an appendix to
\n\t\t\tCollected Poems and Plays
\n<\/i>and as a separate book. It was written shortly before its publication. <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis edition of The Future Poetry with On Quantitative Metre <\/i>
\n\t\t\thas been checked against the author’s manuscripts and the original
