Revolting? Gave He then His supreme command,<\/p>\n

I cannot choose. Power leaps from thee<\/p>\n

Upon me. I am seized with fiery pangs.<\/p>\n

\nSpare me, thou dreadful Angel. I obey.<\/p>\n

<\/font><\/p>\n

Power, power to make and to unmake the world!<\/p>\n

\nPower grows in me. I am omnipotent.<\/p>\n

Children of immortality whose ranks<\/p>\n

\nAnd brilliant armies people the infinite,<\/p>\n

Creatures of wonder, creatures of desire,<\/p>\n

\nO suns that wheel in everlasting fire,<\/p>\n

O stars that sow the ethereal spaces thick,<\/p>\n

\nO worlds of various life! I am your King.<\/p>\n

This I have learnt that God and I are one.<\/p>\n

\nIf one, then equal! Rightly too I deemed<\/p>\n

That God develops, God increases. I,<\/p>\n

\nYounger than He am greater than the Power<\/p>\n

From which I sprang; the new excels the old.<\/p>\n

What dost thou, Lucifer, Angel of God?<\/p>\n

\nThe infinite spaces murmur like a sea,<\/p>\n

The ethereal realms are rocked as with a wind,<\/p>\n

\nAll Nature stands amazed. Whence this revolt?<\/p>\n
