as<br \/>\nif the pure and warm butter of the milch-cow that cannot be slain, her desirable<br \/>\ngift is the vision of the Godhead.\u00b2<\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-7.jpg\" width=\"333\" height=\"45\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">7.<br \/>\nThree are they, his supreme truths, the desirable births of the divine Fire;<br \/>\nwithin in the infinite he is spread wide every-where and has come to us pure and<br \/>\nbrilliant and noble, &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b9<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">i.e.<br \/>\nthe pressure of the wrath of Varuna against our impurity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">The prayer to put Varuna sounds strange. But if<br \/>\nthe inner sense is grasped it becomes cogent and apposite. The sacrificer \u2014 the<br \/>\nseeker \u2014 is praying Agni to be close to him, to protect him. He is aspiring that<br \/>\nthe Divine Fire should be his protector when the Dawn of the higher light comes<br \/>\nto his soul, Varuna being the Lord of wisdom.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b2<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Here<br \/>\nthe connection between Fire and Ra-Cow and Aditi comes out; so also the<br \/>\npsychological nature of the clarified butter and its connection with the vision<br \/>\nof the Sun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Who is this cow that \u201ccannot be slain\u201d if not the<br \/>\ncow <i>Aditi \u2014 <\/i>the Infinite Mother \u2014 the supreme Divine Consciousness<br \/>\ncreativer of the cosmos, of the gods and the demons, of men and of all that is?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0\">\n<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Page \u2013 162<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style=\"text-align:center\">\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">\nshining in his beauty.\u00b9 One who has spread wide within in the infinite; he in<br \/>\nhis luminous beauty conies to us. <\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-8.jpg\" width=\"340\" height=\"42\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">8.<br \/>\nHe is a messenger, a, Priest of the call, whose yearning is towards all the<br \/>\nplanes, golden is his chariot, red are his horses, ecstatic his tongue of flame,<br \/>\nbeautiful his body,\u00b2 wide his lustre, ever is he rapturous like a banquet hall<br \/>\nfull of the wine.\u00b3<\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-9.jpg\" width=\"340\" height=\"42\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">9.<br \/>\nHe makes men conscious of the knowledge and is the friend of their sacrifice;<br \/>\nthey lead him on with a mighty cord; he dwells in the gated house of the being<br \/>\naccomplishing his aims; divine, he accepts companionship in the riches of the<br \/>\nmortal. <\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-10.jpg\" width=\"379\" height=\"45\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">10.<br \/>\nLet this Fire taking knowledge of all things lead us towards the ecstasy. That<br \/>\nis enjoyed by the Gods, which all the immortals created by the thought, and<br \/>\nFather Heaven was its begetter raining the truth.<sup>4<\/sup> <\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-11.jpg\" width=\"321\" height=\"46\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b9<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">These<br \/>\nthree births of Fire are not, as usually explained, its three physical forms \u2014<br \/>\nwhich even if accepted (taken) shows the Vedic people far from the mere<br \/>\nprimitive barbarian \u2014 His birth is connected with Truth \u2014 His births are \u201cwithin<br \/>\nin the Infinite\u201d \u2014 <i>saccidananda<\/i>. These are the three levels of the<br \/>\nearthly evolution on each of which this Divine Fire takes his birth, <i><br \/>\npariv&#299;tah<\/i><\/span><i>&#803;<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">, <\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">&nbsp;on the plane of matter and life and mind.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b2<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Or,<br \/>\ngreat is his body, <\/span>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;\u00b3<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Or, well-stored<br \/>\nwith food.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\"><sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 4<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">This<br \/>\njoy \u2014 <i>ratna <\/i>\u2014 in its origin is created&nbsp; by the immortals with the help of<br \/>\ntheir \u201cthought\u201d \u2014 and it was the raining down upon the&nbsp; lower&nbsp; hemisphere of the<br \/>\nTruth that gave birth to the joy here.&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0\">\n<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">Page \u2013 163<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style=\"text-align:center\">\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">11.<br \/>\nHe was born first and supreme in the Rivers,\u00b9 in the foundation of the vast<br \/>\nmid-world, in his native seat; without head, without feet, concealing his two<br \/>\nends he joins them in the lair of the Bull.\u00b2<\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-12.jpg\" width=\"340\" height=\"45\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">12.<br \/>\nHe came forth with a vibrancy of light, the first and supreme force, in the<br \/>\nnative seat of Truth, in the lair of the Bull, desirable and young and beautiful<br \/>\nof body\u00b3 and wide in lustre; the seven Beloved brought him to birth for the<br \/>\nBull.<sup>4<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-13.jpg\" width=\"340\" height=\"45\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">13.<br \/>\nHere, our human fathers went forward on their way towards the Truth desiring to<br \/>\npossess it; they drove upwards the luminous ones, the good milk-cows in their<br \/>\nstone (rocky) pen within the hiding cave, calling to the Dawns.<sup>5<\/sup> <\/p>\n<p><p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" src=\"\/elibrarytest\/-01 Works of Sri Aurobindo\/-01_SABCL\/-11_Hymns to the Mystic Fire_Volume-11\/_images\/mandal-4a-14.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"45\"><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">14.<br \/>\nThey rent the hill, they made themselves bright and pure, others around them<br \/>\nproclaimed that work of theirs; drivers of the herd,<sup>6<\/sup> they sang the<br \/>\nchant of illumination to the Doer of the work; they found the Light, they shone<br \/>\nwith their thoughts.<sup>7<\/sup> <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\u00b9<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">Or in&nbsp; our habitations,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b2<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">The<br \/>\nsame Fire joins his two extremities of the superconscient and the spirit and the<br \/>\ninconscient matter&nbsp; \u2014 in the lair of the Bull. This is the Bull. Which<br \/>\nrepresents the Purusha \u2026The lair of the Bull is the originals status of Him<br \/>\ncalled at other places, <i>vis<\/i><\/span><i>&#803;<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">n<\/span>&#803;<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">oh<\/span>&#803;<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\"><br \/>\nparamam padam, sad&#257;pa&#347;yanti s&#363;rayah<\/span>&#803;<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt\">.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%;margin-bottom:0\">\n&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; \u00b3<span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">Or, great in body&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span><br \/>\n<sup>4<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">Or, brought to birth the Bull (but the case is Dative)<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">\n<sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 5<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">This Rik makes<br \/>\nthe connection between the hidden cows and the Truth, also the Cows and the<br \/>\nDawn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">\n<sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 6<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">Literallty,<br \/>\nhaving the control over the animal or animals, or, the \u201cinstruments of control\u201d,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin:0;line-height:150%\">\n<sup>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 7<\/sup><span style=\"font-size:10.0pt;line-height:125%\">Or, they did<br \/>\nwork by their thoughts. In all gated houses were all<br \/>\nthe gods.
