1.\u00a0
\n<\/span>Marvellous is the power to upbear of
\nthis young, this infant god, for he goes not to his two mothers to drink their
\nmilk, even though one without teats of plenty brought him to birth then as now,
\nfrom the first he did his carrying, performing his mighty embassy.<\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 <\/span>Fire, verily, is established, a giver and
\nmighty doer of works, he clings to the trees with his blazing tusks achieving
\nthe pilgrim-sacrifice with his besieging tongue of flame, he is like a snorting
\nbull, master in his pasturage.<\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

3. He is to you like a bird settled on a tree, like the divine-moon-flow
\nof the Soma-plant, like a clamorous
\nspreading ocean; he is as one who carries in
\nhis mouth of flame, exuberant in strength, mighty in the way of his works,
\nrushing on his paths.<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n4.\u00a0 <\/span>O ageless
\nFire, when thou rangest the spaces in thy
\nwill to burn, there are all around thee as if unsinking
\nwinds like joyful fighters, having the command for the seeking they march
\ntowards the warrior of the triple world.<\/font>1<\/font><\/sup><\/p>\n

\n5. This is the Fire, friend of the seer,
\nhimself the greatest of seers, who delivers from the inner foe; may Fire guard
\nthe speakers of the word, Fire the illumined seers, may he give his protection
\nto them and to us.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n6. O high-born, thou art he who moves
\nswiftly in the wake of the knower of all things born, the Fire forceful and most
\nfull of the plenitude and even in the waterless desert for him who is there and
\ndesires it and is full of greatness, winnest by the violence of thy bow that
\nwhich is supreme.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n7. This is the Fire who is lauded
\naccompanied by mortal illumined seers, the Shining One,1 strong and glad by men,
\nthey who are seekers of the Truth, and like well-established friends, like the
\nheavens with their lights have power on human beings.<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n8. "O son of energy, O forceful One", so
\nadores thee the mighty speech of Upastuta, thee let us laud, by thee may we be
\narmed with the heroes, holding more and more an ever longer life.<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\nO Fire, the sons of
\nVrishtihavya, the Upastuta Rishis;\u00b9<\/sup> protect them and the
\nilluminates who speak the word, rising on high they have attained with the cry
\nof vasat, vasat,<\/i>
\nwith the cry of obeisance.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t1.  I voice the Shining One with its richly varied lights,\u00b2<\/sup><\/font>
\n\tthe fair and happy, the guest in. whom is nothing hostile; Fire, the Priest
\n\tof the call, the master of the house gives the healing forces that sustain
\n\tthe world, he gives us the hero-energy.<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2.  O Fire, take pleasure in my word, let thy joy
\n\trespond to it, for thou knowest all discoveries of knowledge, O strong will!
\n\tRobed in light, put out a path for the Word, the gods have begotten all
\n\taccording to thy law of works.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3. Encompassing the seven planes, O immortal, giving to the
\n\tgiver, to the doer of good deeds, grow great;\u00b3<\/sup> O Fire, with
\n\triches full of hero-strength crowding on him, accept the man who has come to
\n\tthee with the fuel.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t    <\/font><\/p>\n

\n    <\/b>\u00b9<\/font>sages, extolled;      <\/font>
\n\u00b2<\/font>Or, greatnesses,
\n\t<\/font>    \u00b3<\/sup><\/font>Or,
\n\texalt him;<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t4. The seven givers of the offering pray the lord of plenitudes, the supreme
\n\tRay of intuition, the vicar of the sacrifice. Fire, the Bull with the
\n\tluminous back who hears our words, the god who on him who satisfies him with
\n\tgifts bestows fullness of heroic might.<\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t5. Thou art the first and supreme messenger, as such when thou art called be
\n\trapturous for immortality: thee the life-powers make resplendent in the
\n\thouse of the giver, thee with their lauds the flame-seers made to shine out
\n\twide.<\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t6.  In one to whom sacrifice is dear, for the giver of sacrifice,
\n\tmilking the force that is a good milch-cow, the force that founds all, O
\n\tstrong will, O Fire, thrice pouring light, illumining the Truths, circling
\n\tround our house and our sacrifice thou puttest forth thy strength of will.<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t7.  Thee, O Fire, making their messenger men have offered sacrifice in
\n\tthe outshining of this dawn; thee the gods have increased for their growing
\n\tto greatness making bright the oblation of light in the pilgrim-sacrifice.<\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t8.  The Vasishthas called thee within them; full of plenitude, voicing
\n\tthe Fire, ordainers of works in the discoverings of knowledge; uphold the
\n\tincreasing of the riches in the doers of the sacrifice, do you ever guard us
\n\twith all kinds of weal.<\/p>\n
