\nthe new. He brings here the Gods.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\nawaken them up who desire our offerings. Take thy seat with the Gods on the holy

\nwhose law of being is the Truth, the shining one, the destroyer of all evils,

\nsacrifice honied for the gods (or full of honey among the gods) for their

\nsacrifice, he who creates the offerings, possessed of honied tongue.<\/font>

\n3. On Indra and Vayu, Brihaspati, on Mitra
\nand Agni, Pushan, Bhaga, the Adityas and the Marut host.<\/font>

\n4. For you the nectar streams are filled
\nin, rapturous and maddening, dripping sweetness, into their vessel they settle
\ndown.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\n5. Thee the Kanwas protected adore, when
\nthey have manifested the Flame, hold the offering and have set their array.<\/font>

\n6. Shining of flank, yoked to the mind,
\nthe bearers that bear thee and bear to us the gods to drink the Soma-wine,<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\n7. make them active to the Yajna, O Agni,
\nthey increase by truth, they have with them their female powers; make them drink
\nthe sweetnesses, O keen of tongue.<\/font> <\/font> \n<\/p>\n

\n8. Those that are active to Yajna, those

\nthe seer, the priest of the offering bringeth the gods that wake to the dawn.<\/font>

\nthe sweetness of the Soma-wine, with Indra and Vayu and Mitra’s lustres.<\/font>

\nthinker and friend, sittest, O Agni, at the Yajnas, therefore do thou set
\nthyself to this action of sacrifice of ours.<\/font>

\ntowards the god-head, we seek for you with words of perfect expression, Agni

\n2. Men hold Agni in them as the increaser
\nof strength. With offerings we dispose the sacrifice for thee, do thou then
\nbecome today to us perfect-minded and our keeper here in our havings, O thou who

\n3. Thee we choose out for our messenger,
\nthe priest of offering who hast universal knowledge; when thou art greatened in
\nthy being thy flames range wide, thy lustres touch the heavens.<\/font>

\n4. The gods even Varuna and Mitra and
\nAryaman light thee utterly, the ancient messenger; all wealth that mortal<\/font> 
\n<\/font>conquers by thee, O Agni, who to

\n5. Thou art the rapturous priest of the
\nsacrifice and master of this house and the envoy of creatures; in thee are met
\ntogether all the steadfast laws of action which the gods have made.<\/font>

\n6.<\/i> It is in thee, O Agni, young and
\nmighty, because thou art rich in joy that every offering is cast, therefore do
\nthou today and hereafter, perfect of mind, offer to the gods perfected energies.<\/font>

\n7. He it is, whom as the self-ruler men
\nwho have attained submission adore; by the greatness of the oblation men light
\nentirely Agni when they have broken through their opposers.<\/font>

\n8. They smite Vritra the coverer and pass
\nbeyond the two firmaments, and they make the wide kingdom their home. May the
\nmighty One become in Kanwa a luminous energy fed with the offerings, the Steed
\nof Life neighing in the pastures (stations) of the kine.<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n9. Take thy established seat; wide art
\nthou, shine in thy purity revealing utterly the godhead; pour forth, O thou of
\nthe sacrifice, thy red active smoke of passion, thou wide-manifested, that full
\nof vision.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\n10. Even thou whom the gods have set here
\nfor man most strong for the sacrifice, O bearer of the offering, whom Kanwa
\nMedhyatithi has established as a seizer for him of his desired wealth, whom the
\nmighty Indra and all who establish him by the song of praise;<\/font>

\n11. even that Agni whom Medhyatithi Kanwa
\nhas kindled high upon the Truth, may his impulses blaze forth, him may these

\n12. Complete our felicities, O thou who
\nhast the self-fixity; for with thee, O Agni, is effectivity in the gods; thou
\nrulest over the wealth of inspired knowledge. Show thou then favour to us, great

\n13. Utterly high uplifted stand for our
\ngrowth, like the god Savitri; it is from these heights that thou becomest the
\nsaviour of our store when we call on thee…<\/font>

\n14. High-raised protect us from the evil
\nby the perceiving mind, burn utterly every eater of our being; raise us too on
\nhigh for action, for life; distribute among the gods our activity.<\/font>

\n15. Protect us, O Agni, from the Rakshasa,
\nprotect us from the harm of the undelighting, protect us from him who assails
\nand him who would slay us, O Vast of lustres, O mighty and young.<\/font>

\n16. As with thick falling blows scatter
\nutterly (or scatter like clouds to every side) all the powers of undelight, O
\ndevourer of their force (or destroyer of affliction), and him who would do us
\nharm; whatsoever mortal being exceeds us by the keen-ness of his actions, may he
\nnot as our enemy have mastery over us.<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\n17. Agni has won perfected energy for
\nKanwa and has won perfected enjoyment; Agni protects for him all friendly
\nthings, Agni keeps ever in safe being Medhyatithi who has confirmed him by the
\nsong of praise.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n18. By Agni we call Turvasha and Yadu from
\nthe upper kingdoms; Agni has led to a new dwelling Brihadratha and Turviti (or
\nTurviti of wide delight), a power against the foe.<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n19. Man establisheth thee within, O Agni,
\nas a light for the eternal birth; mayest thou burn brightly in Kanwa manifested
\nin the Truth and increased in being, thou to whom the doers of action bow down.<\/font>

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n20. Impetuous, O Agni, and forceful are
\nthy flames, terrible and not to be approached; always thou do burn utterly the
\npowers who detain and the powers who are vessels of suffering, yea, every
