\n\t1. Affirm that godhead of the sun-world, the gods set the
\n\tdivine traveller<\/span> to his race, they brought the
\n\toffering to the world of the gods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2.  O illumined seer, pray the Fire opulent in his
\n\tgifts, rich in his lustres<\/span>; the guide of this
\n\tSoma-sacrifice pray, O Sobhari<\/span>, for the rite of
\n\tthe path, the Ancient One.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3.  We have chosen thee the mightiest for sacrifice,
\n\tthe divine in the divine, the immortal as the Priest of call of this
\n\tsacrifice, the strong of will, \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t4. the Son of Energy, the Fire, happy and radiant and
\n\tmost glorious in his light; may he win for us by sacrifice the bliss in
\n\theaven of Mitra and Varuna and the bliss of the waters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t5.  The
\n\tmortal who with the fuel and the oblation, with knowledge and with surrender
\n\thas given to the Fire, who is perfect in the pilgrim-rite, \u2014<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t6. swift gallop his war-horses, most luminous is his
\n\tglory, neither calamity wrought by the gods nor evil wrought of men can come

\n\t7.  High of fire may we be with your fires, O son of
\n\tforce, O lord of Energies! for thou hast the hero-strength and thy desire is
\n\ttowards us.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t8. As our friendly guest finding our expression for us.
\n\tFire must be known, and as our chariot; in thee are all-accomplishing
\n\tfoundations of ease, thou art the king of the Treasures.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t9.  That mortal is sure in the giving of his
\n\tpilgrim-sacrifice, O happy Fire, he is one to be proclaimed, may he be a
\n\tcon\u00adqueror by his thoughts, \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t10. one for whom thou standest<\/span>
\n\thigh exalted over his pilgrim-sacrifice, he is a master and hero and
\n\taccomplishes, \u2014 he conquers by the war-horses, by the luminous seers, by the
\n\theroes, wins his work achieved.<\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t11.  He in whose house Fire, in whom are all
\n\tdesirable things, . maintains his body and his affirming laud and his
\n\tdelight and the offerings, he occupies the field of his occupancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t12.  O son of force, for the illumined seer who
\n\tlauds thee and is most swift in his givings<\/span>,
\n\tcreate for that seeker of knowledge, O Shining One,1<\/sup> the word in
\n\twhich the mortal is above the godhead below.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t13.  He who by his gifts of the oblations or by
\n\tprostrations of surrender, or by his word illumines the Fire, who brings his
\n\tright judgment, and the swift action of his light, \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t14. he who with his stimulation by the fuel serves with
\n\tthe seats of the session of the Fire, the Boundless, that happy mortal
\n\texceeding men by his thoughts and by his lights passes beyond all things as
\n\tone who crosses over waters.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t15.  Bring, O Fire, that light which overcomes in
\n\tthe house whatever devourer or wrath of any being with evil thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t16. The light by which Mitra sees and
\n\tVaruna and Aryaman, by<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\tO lord of the Riches,<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\tBhaga<\/span>, that light may we worship, we made by thy
\n\tforce perfect knowers of the path guarded by the lordship of the Puissant.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t17.  O Fire, those are perfect in their thought who,
\n\tthemselves illumined, have set thee within them, O illumined seer, thee, O
\n\tgodhead, divine in vision and strong in will.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t18.  They have made their altar and their offering,
\n\tO happy Fire, and their libation of the wine in heaven, they have con\u00adquered
\n\tby their plenitudes a mighty wealth who have cast into thee their desire.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t19.  O felicitous god, happy to us art thou fed with
\n\tthe offerings, happy thy giving, happy the pilgrim-sacrifice, happy our
\n\tutterances.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t20. Create for us a happy mind in the piercing of the
\n\tCoverers by which thou mayst overcome in the battles; lay prostrate many
\n\tfirm positions of those who challenge us, may we conquer them by thy
\n\tattacks.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t21. I pray with the word the Fire set in man whom the god
\n\tsent<\/span><\/div>\n

\n\tin as the messenger and traveller<\/span>,
\n\tthe carrier of offerings, strong to sacrifice.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t22.  To the ever-young Fire shining with his sharp
\n\ttusks of flame, thou singest<\/span> delight. Fire who
\n\tfed with the offerings of light forms by true words a great strength.<\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t23. When he is fed with the offerings of light the Fire
\n\tlike one full of might, works his blade upwards and downwards and carves for
\n\thimself a shape.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t24. The godhead set in man who speeds the offerings in
\n\tits fragrant mouth, perfect in the pilgrim-sacrifice illumines all desirable
\n\tthings, the divine and immortal Priest of the call.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t25.  O Fire, fed with the offerings, O son of force,
\n\tO friendly light, if thou wert the mortal and I the immortal, \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t26. I would not
\n\tgive thee over to the Assailant or to sinfulness, O benignant, O shining
\n\tone; he who lauded me would not be one without understanding or miserable
\n\tnor one plagued by guilt, O Fire.<\/font><\/span><\/div>\n

\n\t27. He is like a son well nourished in the house of his
\n\tfather; may our offerings reach the gods.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\tguardings<\/span> may I, the mortal, be ever companioned
\n\tby the favour of the god. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t29;.  By thy will may I conquer, O Fire, by thy
\n\tgifts, by thy revealing utterances; for of thee they speak as the guiding
\n\tThought in me. O Fire, have joy for the giving.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t30.  By thy guardings<\/span> in
\n\twhich is the strength of the heroes and the bringing of the plenitudes, he
\n\tdrives forward on his way with whom thou hast chosen friendship, O shining
\n\tone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t31.   ….1<\/sup> the blue stream of thee
\n\twith its cry is faithful to the law of its Truth, even as it is kindled it
\n\ttakes what is cast in it; thou art beloved of the great Dawns and thou
\n\tshinest<\/span> in the dwelling places of the night.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\tof Sobhari<\/span> have come to the Fire with its
\n\tthousandfold<\/span> mass of flame, strong in its
\n\tapproach for protec<\/span><\/font><\/span>tion<\/span>,<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\ton a tree its branches; I annex to me the illuminations of men and their
\n\tlights, increasing so thy warrior forces.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t34. O sons of the boundless mother, you who betray not,
\n\tgreat givers, the mortal whom out of all possessors of riches you lead to
\n\tthe other shore, \u2014<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t35. for you, the kings, who have power over seeing men,
\n\tchoose one or another to have mastery in the human ways, \u2014 such may we be, O
\n\tVaruna, O Mitra, O Aryaman, charioteers, indeed, of the Truth.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t36.  The Terror of the Destroyers, son of the master
\n\tof wide vision, has given me the brides five hundred, he is a bounteous
\n\tgiver, the noble, a lord of beings.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t37. And so, for me at the ford of the wide-flowing and
\n\tforward streaming river of the happy dwelling places,2<\/sup> came the
\n\tbay horse, leader of the three seventies. May he become an opulent master of
