\n\t\t\twritten during the same period and published during his lifetime
\n\t\t\tappear in Essays in Philosophy and Yoga<\/i>, volume 13 of THE<\/font>

\n \t\t\tThere are indications in Sri Aurobindo’s Pondicherry note books that
\n\t\t\the intended to bring out a collection of essays on yoga and other
\n\t\t\tsubjects. The headings written above two pieces, "Essays Divine and
\n\t\t\tHuman" and "Essays\u2014Human and Divine", seem to have been intended as
\n\t\t\tpossible titles for this proposed book. The editors have chosen the
\n\t\t\tfirst of these to be the title of the present volume.

\n \t\t\t\t\t\tAll the writings in this book have been reproduced from
\n\t\t\tSri Aurobindo’s manuscripts. He did not prepare any of them for
\n\t\t\tpublication and left many in an unfinished state. Simple editorial
\n\t\t\tproblems arising from illegibility, incomplete revision, etc. are
\n\t\t\tindicated by means of the system explained in the Guide to Editorial
\n\t\t\tNotation on the next page. More complex problems are discussed in
\n\t\t\tthe reference volume.
