\nhistory since the fall of Prithvi Raj & we may well look back
\nto it with pride & admiration but it is to be feared that it did not proceed upon a sufficiently intellectual basis. Had the
\nmovement of thought & intelligence expressed in the writings of Ramdas, Tukaram, Moropunt been allowed first to fulfil itself
\n& the Mahratta development refrained from transferring itself too hastily into the sphere of political action, the result might
\nhave been more sure, more lasting.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Bengali is not weighted in the race by traditions inconsistent
\nwith present necessities.
\n<\/span> <\/p>\n

\nThat we should all act together, is a fine thing, but the question
\nstill remains what will that action come to? When all the limbs are themselves too weak & incoherent to effect anything, it is
\ncold comfort to be told that they are learning to cohere with one another. Let them cohere among themselves first.

\nIn a struggle between a strong Govt… & an organized nation, when that struggle is put to the arbitration of armed force, all
\nthe chances are with the Gavt.., & in nine cases out of ten it is morally sure of victory, but where the struggle is decided by the
\nclash of social & intellectual agencies & under conditions of law, the relations are exactly reversed, & indeed they are more
\nthan reversed. <\/span> <\/p>\n
