The<br \/>\n\tBarisal Conference resolved <i>not <\/i>to send any prayer or petition to&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\n\t<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 0pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"text-indent: 0pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n\t<span lang=\"en-gb\" style=\"vertical-align: top\"><br \/>\n\t<font face=\"Times New Roman\" color=\"#000000\" size=\"2\">Page \u2013 185<\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 0pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n\t<span lang=\"en-gb\" style=\"vertical-align: top\">Government; when the Conference was forcibly dispersed,<br \/>\n\tthe leaders sent a wire to the Viceroy on the ground that a telegram was<br \/>\n\tsurely not a petition. They have resolved not to approach the<br \/>\n\tLieutenant-Governors of the partitioned Provinces with any prayer or<br \/>\n\taddress, but may still draw their Honours&#8217; &quot;serious attention&quot; to various<br \/>\n\tmatters, public and personal, including the gift of a Deputy Magistracy to<br \/>\n\ttheir sons. After this we shall be told that it would be sinful to<br \/>\n\tdiscourse on religion at a commemoration service in honour of a Lord Bishop<br \/>\n\tof Canterbury or to speak on science at a memorial meeting of a President of<br \/>\n\tthe British Association. We think at the recent Tyabji-Bose meeting in<br \/>\n\tLondon, Babu Romesh Chandra Dutt must have discoursed, therefore, on the<br \/>\n\tgreatness of Islam, and Sir Henry Cotton on the saving grace of<br \/>\n\tBrahmo-Theology.
