\nThe Body<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis body which was once my universe,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIs now a pittance carried by the soul,  \u2014
\n\t\t\t<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIts Titan’s motion bears this scanty purse,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPacing through vastness to a vaster goal.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tToo small was it to meet the giant need<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThat only infinitude can satisfy:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe keeps it still, for in the folds is hid<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis secret passport to eternity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn his front an endless Time and Space deploy<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe landscape of their golden happenings;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis heart is filled with sweet and violent joy,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis mind is upon great and distant things.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHow grown with all the world conterminous<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIs the little dweller in this narrow house!<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nMy mind, my soul grow larger than all Space;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTime founders in that vastness glad and nude:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe body fades, an outline, a dim trace,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA memory in the spirit’s solitude.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nThis universe is a vanishing circumstance<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the glory of a white infinity<\/span><\/p>\n

\nBeautiful and bare for the Immortal’s dance,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHouse-room of my immense felicity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nIn the thrilled happy giant void within<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThought lost in light and passion drowned in bliss,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nChanging into a stillness hyaline,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tObey the edict of the Eternal’s peace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLife’s now the Ineffable’s dominion;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNature is ended and the spirit alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLight<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLight, endless Light! darkness has room no more,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLife’s ignorant gulfs give up their secrecy:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe huge inconscient depths unplumbed before<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLie glimmering in vast expectancy.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLight, timeless Light immutable and apart!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe holy sealed mysterious doors unclose.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLight, burning Light from the Infinite’s diamond heart<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tQuivers in my heart where blooms the deathless rose.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLight in its rapture leaping through the nerves!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLight, brooding Light! each smitten passionate cell<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn a mute blaze of ecstasy preserves<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA living sense of the Imperishable.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI move in an ocean of stupendous Light<\/span><\/p>\n

\nJoining my depths to His eternal height.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Unseen Infinite<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nArisen to voiceless unattainable peaks<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI meet no end, for all is boundless He,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAn absolute joy the wide-winged spirit seeks,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Might, a Presence, an Eternity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nIn the inconscient dreadful dumb Abyss<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAre heard the heart-beats of the Infinite.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe insensible midnight veils His trance of bliss,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA fathomless sealed astonishment of Light.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nIn His ray that dazzles our vision everywhere,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur half-closed eyes seek fragments of the One:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nOnly the eyes of Immortality dare<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo look unblinded on that living Sun.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nYet are our souls the Immortal’s selves within,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tComrades and powers and children of the Unseen.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n“I”<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis strutting “I” of human self and pride<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIs a puppet built by Nature for her use,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd dances as her strong compulsions bid,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tForcefully feeble, brilliantly obtuse.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur thinking is her leap of fluttering mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWe hear and see by her constructed sense:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur force is hers; her colours have combined<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur fly-upon-the-wheel magnificence.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe sits within who turns on her machine<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThese beings, portions of his mystery,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMany dwarf beams of his great calm sunshine,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA reflex of his sole infinity.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne mighty Self of cosmic act and thought<\/span><\/p>\n

\nEmploys this figure of a unit nought.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Cosmic Spirit<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI am a single Self all Nature fills.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tImmeasurable, unmoved the Witness sits:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHe is the silence brooding on her hills,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe circling motion of her cosmic mights.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nI have broken the limits of embodied mind<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd am no more the figure of a soul.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe burning galaxies are in me outlined;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe universe is my stupendous whole.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nMy life is the life of village and continent,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am earth’s agony and her throbs of bliss;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI share all creatures’ sorrow and content<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd feel the passage of every stab and kiss.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nImpassive, I bear each act and thought and mood:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTime traverses my hushed infinitude.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nSelf<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe said, “I am egoless, spiritual, free,”<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThen swore because his dinner was not ready.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI asked him why. He said, “It is not me,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBut the belly’s hungry god who gets unsteady.”<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI asked him why. He said, “It is his play.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am unmoved within, desireless, pure.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI care not what may happen day by day.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI questioned him, “Are you so very sure?”<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe answered, “I can understand your doubt.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBut to be free is all. It does not matter<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHow you may kick and howl and rage and shout,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMaking a row over your daily platter.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo be aware of self is liberty.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nSelf I have got and, having self, am free.”<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tOmnipresence<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nHe is in me, round me, facing everywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSelf-walled in ego to exclude His right,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI stand upon its boundaries and stare<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tInto the frontiers of the Infinite.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nEach finite thing I see is a fa\u00e7ade;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom its windows looks at me the Illimitable.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn vain was my prison of separate body made;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis occult presence burns in every cell.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe has become my substance and my breath;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe is my anguish and my ecstasy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy birth is His eternity’s sign, my death<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA passage of His immortality.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy dumb abysses are His screened abode;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIn my heart’s chamber lives the unworshipped God.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Inconscient Foundation<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy soul regards its veiled subconscient base;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll the dead obstinate symbols of the past,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe hereditary moulds, the stamps of race<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAre upheld to sight, the old imprints effaced.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn a downpour of supernal light it reads<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe black Inconscient’s enigmatic script  \u2014
\n\t\t\t<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRecorded in a hundred shadowy screeds<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn inert world’s obscure enormous drift;<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll flames, is torn and burned and cast away.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHere slept the tables of the Ignorance,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere the dumb dragon edicts of her sway,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe scriptures of Necessity and Chance.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPure is the huge foundation now and nude,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA boundless mirror of God’s infinitude.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tAdwaita<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI walked on the high-wayed Seat of Solomon<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhere Shankaracharya’s tiny temple stands<\/span><\/p>\n

\nFacing Infinity from Time’s edge, alone<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn the bare ridge ending earth’s vain romance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAround me was a formless solitude:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll had become one strange Unnameable,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAn unborn sole Reality world-nude,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTopless and fathomless, for ever still.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nA Silence that was Being’s only word,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe unknown beginning and the voiceless end<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAbolishing all things moment-seen or heard,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn an incommunicable summit reigned,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nA lonely Calm and void unchanging Peace<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn the dumb crest of Nature’s mysteries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Hill-top Temple<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAfter unnumbered steps of a hill-stair<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI saw upon earth’s head brilliant with sun<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe immobile Goddess in her house of stone<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIn a loneliness of meditating air.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWise were the human hands that set her there<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAbove the world and Time’s dominion;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Soul of all that lives, calm, pure, alone,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nRevealed its boundless self mystic and bare.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur body is an epitome of some Vast<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThat masks its presence by our humanness.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn us the secret Spirit can indite<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA page and summary of the Infinite,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA nodus of Eternity expressed<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLive in an image and a sculptured face.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Divine Hearing<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nAll sounds, all voices have become Thy voice,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMusic and thunder and the cry of birds,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLife’s babble of her sorrows and her joys,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCadence of human speech and murmured words,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nThe laughter of the sea’s enormous mirth,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe winged plane purring through the conquered air,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe auto’s trumpet-song of speed to earth,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe machine’s reluctant drone, the siren’s blare<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nBlowing upon the windy horn of Space<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA call of distance and of mystery,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMemories of sun-bright lands and ocean ways,  \u2014 <\/span> <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll now are wonder-tones and themes of Thee.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nA secret harmony steals through the blind heart<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd all grows beautiful because Thou art.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy soul blind and enamoured yearns for Thee;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt bears Thy mystic touch in all that is<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd thrills with the burden of that ecstasy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBehind all eyes I meet Thy secret gaze<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd in each voice I hear Thy magic tune:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThy sweetness hunts my heart through Nature’s ways;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNowhere it beats now from Thy snare immune.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt loves Thy body in all living things;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThy joy is there in every leaf and stone:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe moments bring Thee on their fiery wings;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSight’s endless artistry is Thou alone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTime voyages with Thee upon its prow,  \u2014

\nAnd all the future’s passionate hope is Thou.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDivine Sight<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nEach sight is now immortal with Thy bliss:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy soul through the rapt eyes has come to see;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA veil is rent and they no more can miss<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe miracle of Thy world-epiphany.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nInto an ecstasy of vision caught<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEach natural object is of Thee a part,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA rapture-symbol from Thy substance wrought,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA poem shaped in Beauty’s living heart,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nA master-work of colour and design,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA mighty sweetness borne on grandeur’s wings;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA burdened wonder of significant line<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tReveals itself in even commonest things.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAll forms are Thy dream-dialect of delight,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO Absolute, O vivid Infinite.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nDivine Sense<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSurely I take no more an earthly food<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBut eat the fruits and plants of Paradise!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFor Thou hast changed my sense’s habitude<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom mortal pleasure to divine surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHearing and sight are now an ecstasy,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd all the fragrances of earth disclose<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA sweetness matching in intensity<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOdour of the crimson marvel of the rose.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn every contact’s deep invading thrill,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThat lasts as if its source were infinite,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI feel Thy touch; Thy bliss imperishable<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIs crowded into that moment of delight.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe body burns with Thy rapture’s sacred fire,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nPure, passionate, holy, virgin of desire.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Iron Dictators<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI looked for Thee alone, but met my glance<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe iron dreadful Four who rule our breath,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMasters of falsehood, Kings of ignorance,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHigh sovereign Lords of suffering and death.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nWhence came these formidable autarchies,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom what inconscient blind Infinity,  \u2014
\n\t\t\t<\/span> <\/p>\n

\nCold propagandists of a million lies,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDictators of a world of agony?<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nOr was it Thou who bor’st the fourfold mask?<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEnveloping Thy timeless heart in Time,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThou hast bound the spirit to its cosmic task,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo find Thee veiled in this tremendous mime.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nThou, only Thou, canst raise the invincible siege,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO Light, O deathless Joy, O rapturous Peace!<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO worshipper of the formless Infinite,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tReject not form, what dwells in it is He.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEach finite is that deep Infinity<\/span><\/p>\n

\nEnshrining His veiled soul of pure delight.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tForm in its heart of silence recondite<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHides the significance of His mystery,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tForm is the wonder-house of eternity,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA cavern of the deathless Eremite.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere is a beauty in the depths of God,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere is a miracle of the Marvellous<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThat builds the universe for its abode.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nBursting into shape and colour like a rose,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe One, in His glory multitudinous,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCompels the great world-petals to unclose.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI have drunk deep of God’s own liberty<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom which an occult sovereignty derives:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHidden in an earthly garment that survives,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am the worldless being vast and free.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA moment stamped with that supremacy<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHas rescued me from cosmic hooks and gyves;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAbolishing death and time my nature lives<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the deep heart of immortality.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nGod’s contract signed with Ignorance is torn;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTime has become the Eternal’s endless year,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy soul’s wide self of living infinite Space<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOutlines its body luminous and unborn<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBehind the earth-robe; under the earth-mask grows clear<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMan, the Despot of Contraries<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am greater than the greatness of the seas,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA swift tornado of God-energy:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA helpless flower that quivers in the breeze,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am weaker than the reed one breaks with ease.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI harbour all the wisdom of the wise<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn my nature of stupendous Ignorance;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn a flame of righteousness I fix my eyes<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile I wallow in sweet sin and join hell’s dance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy mind is brilliant like a full-orbed moon,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIts darkness is the caverned troglodyte’s.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI gather long Time’s wealth and squander soon;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am an epitome of opposites.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI with repeated life death’s sleep surprise;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI am a transience of the eternities.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe One Self<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nAll are deceived, do what the One Power dictates,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tYet each thinks his own will his nature moves;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe hater knows not ’tis himself he hates,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe lover knows not ’tis himself he loves.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nIn all is one being many bodies bear;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHere Krishna flutes upon the forest road,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHere Shiva sits ash-smeared, with matted hair.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBut Shiva and Krishna are the single God.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nIn us too Krishna seeks for love and joy,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn us too Shiva struggles with the world’s grief.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nOne Self in all of us endures annoy,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCries in his pain and asks his fate’s relief.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nMy rival’s downfall is my own disgrace:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI look on my enemy and see Krishna’s face.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Inner Fields<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere is a brighter ether than this blue<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPretence of an enveloping heavenly vault,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA deeper greenness than this laughing assault<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOf emerald rapture pearled with tears of dew.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tImmortal spaces of caerulean hue<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAre in our reach and fields without this fault<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOf drab brown earth and streams that never halt<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIn their deep murmur which white flowers strew<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFloating like stars upon a strip of sky.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis world behind is made of truer stuff<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThan the manufactured tissue of earth’s grace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThere we can walk and see the gods go by<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd sip from Hebe’s cup nectar enough<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo make for us heavenly limbs and deathless face.<\/span><\/p>\n
