\nThe Infinite Adventure<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn the waters of a nameless Infinite<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy skiff is launched; I have left the human shore.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll fades behind me and I see before<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe unknown abyss and one pale pointing light.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn unseen Hand controls my rudder. Night<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWalls up the sea in a black corridor,  \u2014
\n\t\t\t<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn inconscient Hunger’s lion plaint and roar<\/span><\/p>\n

\nOr the ocean sleep of a dead Eremite.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI feel the greatness of the Power I seek<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSurround me; below me are its giant deeps,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBeyond, the invisible height no soul has trod.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI shall be merged in the Lonely and Unique<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd wake into a sudden blaze of God,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe marvel and rapture of the Apocalypse.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Greater Plan<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI am held no more by life’s alluring cry,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHer joy and grief, her charm, her laughter’s lute.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHushed are the magic moments of the flute,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd form and colour and brief ecstasy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI would hear, in my spirit’s wideness solitary,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Voice that speaks when mortal lips are mute:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI seek the wonder of things absolute<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBorn from the silence of Eternity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nThere is a need within the soul of man<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe splendours of the surface never sate;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFor life and mind and their glory and debate<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAre the slow prelude of a vaster theme,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA sketch confused of a supernal plan,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA preface to the epic of the Supreme.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Universal Incarnation<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere is a wisdom like a brooding Sun,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Bliss in the heart’s crypt grown fiery white,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe heart of a world in which all hearts are one,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Silence on the mountains of delight,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Calm that cradles Fate upon its knees;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA wide Compassion leans to embrace earth’s pain;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Witness dwells within our secrecies,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe incarnate Godhead in the body of man.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur mind is a glimmering curtain of that Ray,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur strength a parody of the Immortal’s power,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur joy a dreamer on the Eternal’s way<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHunting the unseizable beauty of an hour.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOnly on the heart’s veiled door the word of flame<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIs written, the secret and tremendous Name.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Godhead<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI sat behind the dance of Danger’s hooves<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the shouting street that seemed a futurist’s whim,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAnd suddenly felt, exceeding Nature’s grooves,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn me, enveloping me the body of Him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAbove my head a mighty head was seen,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA face with the calm of immortality<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAnd an omnipotent gaze that held the scene<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the vast circle of its sovereignty.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nHis hair was mingled with the sun and breeze;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe world was in His heart and He was I:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI housed in me the Everlasting’s peace,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe strength of One whose substance cannot die.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe moment passed and all was as before;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOnly that deathless memory I bore.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Stone Goddess<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn a town of gods, housed in a little shrine,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom sculptured limbs the Godhead looked at me,  \u2014
\n\t\t\t<\/span> <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA living Presence deathless and divine,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Form that harboured all infinity.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe great World-Mother and her mighty will<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tInhabited the earth’s abysmal sleep,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tVoiceless, omnipotent, inscrutable,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMute in the desert and the sky and deep.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNow veiled with mind she dwells and speaks no word,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tVoiceless, inscrutable, omniscient,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHiding until our soul has seen, has heard<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe secret of her strange embodiment,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne in the worshipper and the immobile shape,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA beauty and mystery flesh or stone can drape.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tKrishna<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nAt last I find a meaning of soul’s birth<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tInto this universe terrible and sweet,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI who have felt the hungry heart of earth<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAspiring beyond heaven to Krishna’s feet.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nI have seen the beauty of immortal eyes,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd heard the passion of the Lover’s flute,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAnd known a deathless ecstasy’s surprise<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd sorrow in my heart for ever mute.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nNearer and nearer now the music draws,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLife shudders with a strange felicity;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAll Nature is a wide enamoured pause<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHoping her lord to touch, to clasp, to be.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nFor this one moment lived the ages past;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe world now throbs fulfilled in me at last.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nShiva<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn the white summit of eternity<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA single Soul of bare infinities,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGuarded he keeps by a fire-screen of peace<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHis mystic loneliness of nude ecstasy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBut, touched by an immense delight to be,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHe looks across unending depths and sees<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMusing amid the inconscient silences<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Mighty Mother’s dumb felicity.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHalf now awake she rises to his glance;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThen, moved to circling by her heart-beats’ will,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe rhythmic worlds describe that passion-dance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLife springs in her and Mind is born; her face<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tShe lifts to Him who is Herself, until<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Spirit leaps into the Spirit’s embrace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Word of the Silence<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nA bare impersonal hush is now my mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA world of sight clear and inimitable,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA volume of silence by a Godhead signed,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA greatness pure of thought, virgin of will.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nOnce on its pages Ignorance could write<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn a scribble of intellect the blind guess of Time<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAnd cast gleam-messages of ephemeral light,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA food for souls that wander on Nature’s rim.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nBut now I listen to a greater Word<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBorn from the mute unseen omniscient Ray:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Voice that only Silence’ ear has heard<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLeaps missioned from an eternal glory of Day.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAll turns from a wideness and unbroken peace<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo a tumult of joy in a sea of wide release.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\nThe Self’s Infinity<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI have become what before Time I was.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA secret touch has quieted thought and sense:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll things by the agent Mind created pass<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tInto a void and mute magnificence.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy life is a silence grasped by timeless hands;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe world is drowned in an immortal gaze.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNaked my spirit from its vestures stands;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am alone with my own self for space.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy heart is a centre of infinity,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy body a dot in the soul’s vast expanse.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll being’s huge abyss wakes under me,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOnce screened in a gigantic Ignorance.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA momentless immensity pure and bare,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI stretch to an eternal everywhere.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Dual Being<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nThere are two beings in my single self.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA Godhead watches Nature from behind<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAt play in front with a brilliant surface elf,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA time-born creature with a human mind.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nTranquil and boundless like a sea or sky,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Godhead knows himself Eternity’s son.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nRadiant his mind and vast, his heart as free;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis will is a sceptre of dominion.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nThe smaller self by Nature’s passions driven,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThoughtful and erring learns his human task;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAll must be known and to that Greatness given<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHis mind and life, the mirror and the mask.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAs with the figure of a symbol dance<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe screened Omniscient plays at Ignorance.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLila<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn us is the thousandfold Spirit who is one,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn eternal thinker calm and great and wise,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA seer whose eye is an all-regarding sun,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA poet of the cosmic mysteries.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA critic Witness pieces everything<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd binds the fragments in his brilliant sheaf;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA World-adventurer borne on Destiny’s wing<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGambles with death and triumph, joy and grief.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA king of greatness and a slave of love,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHost of the stars and guest in Nature’s inn,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA high spectator spirit throned above,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA pawn of passion in the game divine,<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne who has made in sport the suns and seas<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMirrors in our being his immense caprice.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tSurrender<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nO Thou of whom I am the instrument,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO secret Spirit and Nature housed in me,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLet all my mortal being now be blent<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn Thy still glory of divinity.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nI have given my mind to be dug Thy channel mind,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI have offered up my will to be Thy will:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLet nothing of myself be left behind<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn our union mystic and unutterable.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nMy heart shall throb with the world-beats of Thy love,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy body become Thy engine for earth-use;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIn my nerves and veins Thy rapture’s streams shall move;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy thoughts shall be hounds of Light for Thy power to loose.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nKeep only my soul to adore eternally<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd meet Thee in each form and soul of Thee.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Divine Worker<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI face earth’s happenings with an equal soul;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn all are heard Thy steps: Thy unseen feet<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTread Destiny’s pathways in my front. Life’s whole<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTremendous theorem is Thou complete.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNo danger can perturb my spirit’s calm:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy acts are Thine; I do Thy works and pass;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFailure is cradled on Thy deathless arm,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tVictory is Thy passage mirrored in Fortune’s glass.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn this rude combat with the fate of man<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThy smile within my heart makes all my strength;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThy Force in me labours at its grandiose plan,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIndifferent to the Time-snake’s crawling length.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNo power can slay my soul; it lives in Thee.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThy presence is my immortality.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tThe Guest<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nI have discovered my deep deathless being:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMasked by my front of mind, immense, serene<\/span><\/p>\n

\nIt meets the world with an Immortal’s seeing,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA god-spectator of the human scene.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nNo pain and sorrow of the heart and flesh<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCan tread that pure and voiceless sanctuary.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nDanger and fear, Fate’s hounds, slipping their leash<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRend body and nerve, 
\n\t\t\t\u2014  the timeless Spirit is free.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nAwake, God’s ray and witness in my breast,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the undying substance of my soul<\/span><\/p>\n

\nFlamelike, inscrutable the almighty Guest.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDeath nearer comes and Destiny takes her toll;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nHe hears the blows that shatter Nature’s house:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCalm sits he, formidable, luminous.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Inner Sovereign<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNow more and more the Epiphany within<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAffirms on Nature’s soil His sovereign rights.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy mind has left its prison-camp of brain;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt pours, a luminous sea from spirit heights.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA tranquil splendour, waits my Force of Life<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCouched in my heart, to do what He shall bid,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPoising wide wings like a great hippogriff<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn which the gods of the empyrean ride.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy senses change into gold gates of bliss;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAn ecstasy thrills through touch and sound and sight<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFlooding the blind material sheath’s dull ease:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy darkness answers to His call of light.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNature in me one day like Him shall sit<\/span><\/p>\n

\nVictorious, calm, immortal, infinite.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tCreation<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nSince Thou hadst all eternity to amuse,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO sculptor of the living shapes of earth,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO dramatist of death and life and birth,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWorld-artist revelling in forms and hues,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nHast Thou shaped the marvel of the whirling spheres,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA scientist passing Nature through his tubes,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd played with numbers, measures, theorems, cubes,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tO mathematician Mind that never errs,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nBuilding a universe from Thy theories?<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tProtean is Thy spirit of delight,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCraftsman minute and architect of might,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWorld-adept of a thousand mysteries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nOr forged some deep Necessity, not Thy whim,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFate and Inconscience and the net of Time?<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\nA Dream of Surreal Science<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne dreamed and saw a gland write Hamlet, drink<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAt the Mermaid, capture immortality;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA committee of hormones on the Aegean’s brink<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tComposed the Iliad and the Odyssey.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA thyroid, meditating almost nude<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tUnder the Bo-tree, saw the eternal Light<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd, rising from its mighty solitude,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSpoke of the Wheel and eightfold Path all right.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA brain by a disordered stomach driven<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThundered through Europe, conquered, ruled and fell,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tFrom St Helena went, perhaps, to Heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI have accepted death and borne defeat<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIf by my fall some gain were clutched for Thee.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nTo this world’s inconscient Power Thou hast given the right<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo oppose the shining passage of my soul:<\/span><\/p>\n

\nShe levies on each step the tax of Night.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDoom, her unjust accountant, keeps the roll.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nAround my way the Titan forces press;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis earth is theirs, they hold the days in fee,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI am full of wounds and the fight merciless:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis puppet ego the World-Mother made,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThis little profiteer of Nature’s works,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHer trust in his life-tenancy betrayed,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMakes claim on claim, all debt to her he shirks.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEach movement of our life our ego fills;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tInwoven in each thread of being’s weft,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhen most we vaunt our selflessness, it steals<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA sordid part; no corner void is left.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOne way lies free, our heart and soul to give,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOur body and mind to Thee and every cell,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd steeped in Thy world-infinity to live.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nObscure in the depths and on the heights sublime,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEvolving from the worm into the god.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA spark of the eternal Fire, it came<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo build a house in Matter for the Unborn.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe inconscient sunless Night received the flame,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn the brute seed of things dumb and forlorn<\/span><\/p>\n

\nLife stirred and Thought outlined a gleaming shape<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTill on the stark inanimate earth could move,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nBorn to somnambulist Nature in her sleep,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA thinking creature who can hope and love.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nStill by slow steps the miracle goes on,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Immortal’s gradual birth mid mire and stone.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThe Bliss of Brahman<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am swallowed in a foam-white sea of bliss,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am a curving wave of God’s delight,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA shapeless flow of happy passionate light,<\/span><\/p>\n

\nA whirlpool of the streams of Paradise.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am a cup of His felicities,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA thunderblast of His golden ecstasy’s might,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA fire of joy upon creation’s height;<\/span><\/p>\n

\nI am His rapture’s wonderful abyss.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am drunken with the glory of the Lord,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI am vanquished by the beauty of the Unborn;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI have looked alive on the Eternal’s face.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nMy mind is cloven by His radiant sword,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy heart by His beatific touch is torn,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMy life is a meteor-dust of His flaming Grace.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t
\n\t\t\tMoments<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\nIf perfect moments on the peak of things,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThese tops of knowledge, greatness, ecstasy,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAre only moments, this too enough might be.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tI have put on the rapid flaming wings<\/span><\/p>\n

\nOf souls whom the Ignorance black-robed Nature brings<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAnd the frail littleness of mortality<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCan bind not always. A high sovereignty<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMakes them awhile creation’s radiant kings.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nThese momentary upliftings of the soul<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tPrepare the spirit’s glorious permanence.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe peace of God, a mighty transience,<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIs now my spirit’s boundless atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll parts are gathered into a timeless whole;<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tAll moments blaze in an eternal year.<\/span><\/p>\n
