\nA Word About Society <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\nMan is not born for the society\u2014but the society is created
\nfor him. Those who forget the inner Divinity in man and give
\na higher place to the society are worshipping the undivine.
\nMeaningless worship of society is a sign of artificiality in
\nhuman life, a deterioration of the self-law. <\/font><\/p>\n

\nMan does not belong to the society but to the Divine.
\nThose who try to weaken the Divine within him by imposing,
\non his mind and life and soul, slavery to the society and its
\nnumerous exterior bonds, have lost sight of the true goal of
\nhumanity. The sin of this oppression does not permit the
\nDivine within him to awake, the Power goes to sleep. If you
\nhave to serve at all, then serve the Divine, not the society.
\nThere is sweetness as well as progress in this service. The
\nhighest felicity, liberty in bondage, and unrestricted freedom
\nare its crowning results. <\/font><\/p>\n

\nThe society cannot be the aim; it is a means, an instrument. Self-inspired knowledge and power emerging from
\naction and shaped by the Divine are the true guides of the
\nlife of man. Their progressive growth is the aim of the
\nspiritual evolution of life. This knowledge, this power should
\nuse society as an instrument, mould it, and, if need be, even
\nmodify it. This is the natural condition. An unprogressive
\nand stagnant society becomes the grave of lifeless manhood; the outpouring of life and the radiation of the force of
\nknowledge are bound to bring about a transformation of
\nsociety. To tie man with a thousand chains to the social
\nmachinery and crush him will lead to inevitable immobility
\nand decay. <\/font><\/p>\n

\nWe have lessened man and extolled society. But a society
\ncannot grow in this way, it becomes petty, stagnant and
\nsterile. Instead of utilising society as a means of our progressive development, we have reduced it to an instrument of
\noppression and bondage; this is the reason for our degeneration, indolence and helpless impotence. Elevate man, open\\
\nthe gateway of the temple where the Divine secretly shines 
\nwithin him. The society will automatically become noble, I
\nbeautiful in every limb, a successful field for the enterprise of
\na free and high intention. <\/font><\/p>\n
