\nPublisher’s Note<\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

\n <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

\nThe fourth edition of Sri Aurobindo’s Savitri,<\/i> called the Revised Edition, was published in 1993. Since then it has been
\nreprinted several times. The edition is the outcome of years of
\nstudy of the manuscripts of the poem. Differences between
\neditions are listed and explained in the "Supplement to the
\nRevised Edition of Savitri\u201d.<\/i> <\/font><\/p>\n

\nIn spite of the explanations given in the Supplement, some
\nmisunderstandings about this edition have arisen. To clear them
\nup, the Sri Aurobindo Ashram Trust has issued a booklet, "On
\nthe New Edition of Savitri\u201d<\/i> (Part One). Questions raised after
\nthat booklet was published are answered in the present booklet. <\/font><\/p>\n

\nThe first two chapters of this booklet will resolve doubts
\nabout the authorisation of the new edition of Savitri,<\/i> by showing that both Sri Aurobindo and the Mother wanted accidental changes in the text to be corrected according to the
\nmanuscripts. In the third chapter it will be seen that the Mother’s French translation agrees with some corrections made in
\nthe new edition. The last chapter explains a number of specific differences between editions, which have recently been
\nquestioned by critics. <\/font><\/p>\n
