\nof the timeless depths where he had sunk,<\/p>\n

\nheard once more the slow tread of the hours.<\/p>\n

All once
\nperceived and lived was far away;<\/span><\/font>

\nAbove the Witness and his universe<\/span><\/font>

\nstood in a realm of boundless silences<\/span><\/font>

\nAwaiting the Voice that spoke and built the worlds.<\/span><\/font>

\nA light was round him wide and absolute,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA diamond purity of eternal sight;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA consciousness lay still, devoid of forms,<\/P><\/p>\n

Free,
\nwordless, uncoerced by sign or rule,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

For<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\never content with only being and bliss;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nA sheer existence lived in its own peace<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nOn<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\nthe single spirit's bare and infinite ground.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nOut of the sphere of Mind he had arisen,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nHe<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\nhad left the reign of Nature's hues and shades;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nHe dwelt in his self's colourless purity.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nIt<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\nwas a plane of undetermined spirit<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nThat could be a zero or round sum of things,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA state in which all ceased and all began.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nAll it became that figures the absolute,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA high vast peak whence spirit could see the worlds,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nCalm's wide epiphany, wisdom's mute home,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA lonely station of Omniscience,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA diving-board of the Eternal's power,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA white floor in the house of All-Delight.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nHere came the thought that passes beyond Thought,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nHere the still Voice which our listening cannot hear,<\/span><\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

\nThe Knowledge by which the Knower is the Known,<\/P><\/p>\n

The Love
\nin which Beloved and Lover are one.<\/p>\n

Hushed
\nand fulfilled before they could create<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nglorious dream of their universal acts,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Here was
\nengendered the spiritual birth,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Here
\nclosed the finite's crawl to the Infinite.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nthousand roads leaped into Eternity<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Or
\nsinging ran to meet God's veilless face.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nknown released him from its limiting chain,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He
\nknocked at the doors of the Unknowable.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Thence
\ngazing with an immeasurable outlook<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

One with
\nself's inlook into its own pure vasts,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He saw
\nthe splendour of the spirit's realms,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\ngreatness and wonder of its boundless works,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\npower and passion leaping from its calm,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nrapture of its movement and its rest,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And its
\nfire-sweet miracle of transcendent life,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nmillion-pointing undivided grasp<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Of its
\nvision of one same stupendous All,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Its
\ninexhaustible acts in a timeless Time,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A space
\nthat is its own infinity.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nglorious multiple of one radiant Self,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

\nAnswering to joy with joy, to love with love,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

All
\nthere were moving mansions of God-bliss,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Eternal
\nand unique they lived the One.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

There
\nforces are great outbursts of God's truth<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And
\nobjects are its pure spiritual shapes;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nSpirit no more is hid from its own view,<\/P><\/p>\n

All
\nsentience is a sea of happiness<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And all
\ncreation is an act of light.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Out of
\nthe neutral silence of his soul<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He
\npassed to its fields of puissance and of calm<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And saw
\nthe Powers that stand above the world,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

\nTraversed the realms of the supreme Idea<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And
\nsought the summit of created things<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And the
\nalmighty source of cosmic change.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

There
\nknowledge called him to her mystic peaks<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Where
\nthought is held in a vast internal sense<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And
\nfeeling swims across a sea of peace<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nAnd vision climbs beyond the reach of Time.<\/span><\/font>

\nAccompanied by an all-revealing light<\/span><\/font>

\nHe moved through regions of transcendent Truth<\/span><\/font>

\nInward, immense, innumerably one.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nThere distance was his own huge spirit's extent;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nDelivered from the fictions of the mind<\/P><\/p>\n

Time's
\ntriple dividing step baffled no more;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nIts inevitable and continuous stream,<\/P><\/p>\n

The long
\nflow of its manifesting course,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Was held
\nin spirit's single wide regard.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nuniversal beauty showed its face;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nThe invisible deep-fraught significances,<\/P><\/p>\n

Here
\nsheltered behind form's insensible screen,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

\nUncovered to him their deathless harmony<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And the
\nkey to the wonder-book of common things.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

In their
\nuniting law stood up revealed<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nmultiple measures of the uplifting force,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nlines of the World-Geometer's technique,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nenchantments that uphold the cosmic web<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And the
\nmagic underlying simple shapes.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

On peaks
\nwhere Silence listens with still heart<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

To the
\nrhythmic metres of the rolling worlds,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He
\nserved the sessions of the triple fire.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

On<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\nthe rim of two continents of slumber and trance<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He heard
\nthe ever unspoken Reality's voice<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Awaken
\nrevelation's mystic cry,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n


\nThe birth-place found of the sudden infallible Word <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nAnd lived in the rays of an intuitive Sun. <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nAbsolved from the ligaments of death and sleep <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nHe rode the lightning seas of cosmic Mind <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nAnd crossed the ocean of original sound; <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nOn the last step to the supernal birth <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nHe trod along extinction's narrow edge <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nNear the high verges of eternity, <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nAnd mounted the gold ridge of the World-dream <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nBetween the slayer and the saviour fires; <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nThe belt he reached of the unchanging Truth, <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nMet borders of the inexpressible Light <\/font>\n<\/p>\n


\nAnd thrilled with the presence of the Ineffable.<\/font><\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\nAbove him he saw the flaming Hierarchies,<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nwings that fold around created space,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nsun-eyed Guardians and the golden Sphinx<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And the
\ntiered planes and the immutable Lords.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A wisdom
\nwaiting on Omniscience<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Sat
\nvoiceless in a vast passivity;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nIt judged not, measured not, nor strove to know,<\/P><\/p>\n

But
\nlistened for the all-seeing Thought<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And the
\nburden of a calm transcendent Voice.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He had
\nreached the top of all that can be known:<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nHis sight surpassed creation's head and base;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nAblaze the triple heavens revealed their suns,<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nobscure Abyss exposed its monstrous rule.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

All but
\nthe ultimate Mystery was his field,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Almost
\nthe Unknowable disclosed its rim.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

His
\nself's infinities began to emerge,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nhidden universes cried to him;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nEternities called to eternities<\/P><\/p>\n

Sending
\ntheir speechless message still remote.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Arisen
\nfrom the marvel of the depths<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And
\nburning from the superconscious heights<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

And
\nsweeping in great horizontal gyres<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nmillion energies joined and were the One.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

All
\nflowed immeasurably to one sea:<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nAll living forms became its atom homes.<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nPanergy that harmonised all life<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

Held now
\nexistence in its vast control;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nA portion of that majesty he was made.<\/P><\/p>\n

At will
\nhe lived in the unoblivious Ray.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n     In that high realm where no untruth can come,.<\/P><\/p>\n

Where
\nall are different and all is one,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

In the
\nImpersonal's ocean without shore<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nPerson in the World-Spirit anchored rode;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nIt thrilled with the mighty marchings of World-Force,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nIts acts were the comrades of God's infinite peace.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nAn adjunct glory and a symbol self,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nThe body was delivered to the soul,<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n

\nAn immortal point of power, a block of poise<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nIn a cosmicity's wide formless surge,<\/span><\/font>

\nA conscious edge of the Transcendent's might<\/span><\/font>

Idea
\nrotated symphonies of sight,<\/p>\n

Sight
\nwas a flame-throw from identity;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nLife was a marvellous journey of the spirit,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nFeeling a wave from the universal Bliss.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nIn the kingdom of the Spirit's power and light,<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nAs if one who arrived out of infinity's womb<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nHe<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\ncame new-born, infant and limitless<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nAnd grew in the wisdom of the timeless Child;<\/span><\/font>

\n
\nHe<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>
\nwas a vast that soon became a Sun.<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nA great luminous silence whispered to his heart;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n
\nHis knowledge an inview caught unfathomable,<\/P><\/p>\n

An
\noutview by no brief horizons cut:<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nHe thought and felt in all, his gaze had power.<\/P><\/p>\n

He
\ncommuned with the Incommunicable;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nBeings of a wider consciousness were his friends,<\/P><\/p>\n

Forms of
\na larger subtler make drew near;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nThe Gods conversed with him behind Life's veil.<\/P><\/p>\n

\nNeighbour his being grew to Nature's crests.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

The
\nprimal Energy took him in its arms;<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\n
\nHis brain was wrapped in overwhelming Light,<\/P><\/p>\n

An
\nall-embracing knowledge seized his heart:<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\n

\nThoughts rose in him no earthly mind can hold,<\/P><\/p>\n

Mights
\nplayed that never coursed through mortal nerves:<\/span><\/font>
\n<\/span><\/font>\n<\/p>\n

\nHe scanned the secrets of the Overmind,<\/P><\/p>\n

He bore
\nthe rapture of the Oversoul.<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

A
\nborderer of the empire of the Sun,<\/p>\n

Attuned
\nto the supernal harmonies,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

He
\nlinked creation to the Eternal's sphere,<\/p>\n

<\/P><\/p>\n

His
\nfinite parts approached their absolutes,<\/p>\n

His
\nactions framed the movements of the Gods,<\/p>\n

His will
