Lord, this morning Thou hast given me the
\nassurance that Thou wouldst stay with us until Thy work is achieved, not only
\nas a consciousness which guides and illumines but also as a dynamic Presence in
\naction. In unmistakable terms Thou hast promised that all of Thyself would
\nremain here and not leave the earth atmosphere until earth is transformed.
\nGrant that we may be worthy of this marvellous Presence and that henceforth
\neverything in us be concentrated on the one will to be more and more perfectly
\nconsecrated to the fulfilment of Thy sublime Work. <\/span><\/p>\n

 The lack of receptivity of the earth and
\nmen is mostly responsible for the decision Sri Aurobindo has taken regarding
\nhis body. But one thing is certain: what has happened on the physical plane
\naffects in no way the truth of his teaching. All that he has said is perfectly
\ntrue and remains so. Time and the course of events will prove it abundantly. <\/span><\/p>\n

To Thee who hast been the material
\nenvelope of our Master, to Thee our infinite gratitude. Before Thee who hast
\ndone so much for us, who hast worked, struggled, suffered, hoped, endured so
\nmuch, before Thee who hast willed all, attempted all, prepared, achieved all for
\nus, before Thee we bow down and implore that we may never forget, even for a
\nmoment, all we owe to Thee. <\/span><\/p>\n

We must not be bewildered by appearances.
\nSri Aurobindo has not left us. Sri Aurobindo is here, as living and as present
\nas ever and it is left to us to realise his work with all the sincerity,
\neagerness and concentration necessary. <\/span><\/p>\n

I was painfully shocked when I heard the
\ntranslation of the leaflet you are distributing here in the Ashram. I never
\nimagined you could have such a complete lack of understanding, respect and devotion
\nfor our Lord who has sacrificed himself <\/span><\/p>\n

\ntotally for us. Sri Aurobindo was not
\ncrippled; a few hours before he left his body he rose from his bed and sat for
\na long time in his armchair, speaking freely to all those around him. Sri Aurobindo
\nwas not compelled to leave his body, he chose to do so for reasons so sublime
\nthat they are beyond the reach of human mentality. <\/span><\/p>\n

And when one cannot understand, the only
\nthing to do is to keep a respectful silence. <\/span><\/p>\n

People do not know what a tremendous
\nsacrifice Sri Aurobindo has made for the world. About a year ago, while I was
\ndiscussing things, I remarked that I felt like leaving this body of mine. He
\nspoke out in a very firm tone, \u201cNo, this can never be. If necessary for this
\ntransformation, I might go, you will have to fulfil our Yoga of supramental
\ndescent and transformation.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Lord, we are upon earth to accomplish Thy
\nwork of transformation. It is our sole will, our sole preoccupation. Grant that
\nit may be also our sole occupation and that all our actions may help us towards

We stand in the Presence of Him who has
\nsacrificed his physical life in order to help more fully his work of

\nresuscitate his body, He clearly answered: \u201cI have left this body purposely. I
\nwill not take it back. I shall manifest again in the first supramental body

Sri Aurobindo has given up his body in an
\nact of supreme unselfishness, renouncing the realisation in his own body to
\nhasten the hour of the collective realisation. Surely if the earth were more
\nresponsive, this would not have been necessary. <\/span><\/p>\n
