Stop thinking that you are of the West and
\nothers of the East. All human beings are of the same divine origin and meant to
\nmanifest upon earth the unity of this origin.  <\/span><\/p>\n

In any country the best education that can
\nbe given to children consists in teaching them what the true nature of their
\ncountry is and its own qualities, the mission their nation has to fulfil in the
\nworld and its true place in the terrestrial concert. To that should be added a
\nwide understanding of the role of other nations, but without the spirit of
\nimitation and without ever losing sight of the genius of one’s own country.
\nFrance meant generosity of sentiment, newness and boldness of ideas and
\nchivalry in action. It was that France which commanded the respect and
\nadmiration of all: it is by these virtues that she dominated the world. <\/span><\/p>\n

A utilitarian, calculating, mercantile
\nFrance is France no longer. These things do not agree with her true nature and
\nin practising them she loses the nobility of her world position. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is what the children of today must be
\nmade to know.  <\/span><\/p>\n

It is France that can connect Europe with
\nIndia. There are great spiritual possibilities for France. She will play a big
\npart in spite of her present bad condition. It is through France that  <\/span><\/p>\n

the spiritual message will reach Europe. That

In October 1961 I had written to Mother regarding my
\nimpending World Union tour in Africa. I had referred to the many new nations
\nentering their freedom and independence. Did she have a message for these
\npeoples? With the words \u201cWill this help you?\u201d, she gave me the following:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The true freedom is to be free from
\ndesire.<\/span><\/p>\n

The true independence is to be independent
\nfrom passion. <\/span><\/p>\n

The true mastery is to be master of
\noneself. <\/span><\/p>\n

That alone is the key to happiness; all
\nthe rest is passing illusion. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is not in division but in unity that
\ncan be found the solution of human problems and the remedy to human miseries.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Could we have a message from you to pass along to

Truth is above conflict and opposition. <\/span><\/p>\n

In Truth, all countries unite in a common

Israel as a nation has the same right to
\nexist as all the other nations.  <\/span><\/p>\n

How can you believe that the Grace works
\nfor one nation or against another? The Grace works for Truth and in the present
\nconditions of the world, Truth and falsehood are both present everywhere, in
\nall nations. It is the human mind which thinks: this one is right and that one
\nis wrong <\/span>―<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>right and wrong are present
\neverywhere. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Truth is above all conflicts and all
\noppositions.  <\/span><\/p>\n

May I have a clarification from you on two points?  <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

(1) Does not the Grace work for whatever Truth there may be on both sides
\nof a conflict? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Yes. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Or does it keep altogether aloof just because either side has falsehood
\nalso?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

No. I said work <\/span>―<\/span> it is a constant working. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

(2) Do the present conflicts differ radically from a conflict like World
\nWar II, in which the Grace worked  <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

definitively and decisively on one side at least on the whole?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

You are mixing up two things, the working
\nof the Grace and the result which is the inevitable consequence of the triumph
\nof the Truth: they are quite different things on a different level. <\/span><\/p>\n

The progressive victory of the Truth
\nbrings automatically certain results complex and often unexpected by the human
\nmind which always wants clean cuts. It is only a total vision both in time and
\nspace that can understand.  <\/span><\/p>\n

How is one to explain this age-old enmity between the Jews and the Arabs
\n(although having a common ancestor) hating each other, generation on generation
\nup to the impasse in which we have been living from some days back? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Perhaps the enmity exists only because
\nthey are neighbours! <\/span><\/p>\n

Violence and enmity.. when brothers hate,
\nthey hate much more than others. Sri Aurobindo has said: \u201cHate is the
\nindication of the possibility of a much greater love.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Could we think that these two great peoples in conflict represent the
\nsymbolic Forces called to decide the fate of our civilisation? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

It is not this conflict that will decide
\nthe future of our civilisation. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Mussulmans<\/span>
\nand the Israelites represent the two religions where the faith in God is the
\nmost extreme. Only, the faith of the Israelites is a faith in an impersonal God
\nand the faith of the Mussulmans<\/span> is a faith in a
\npersonal God. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Arabs have passionate natures. They
\nlive almost exclusively <\/span><\/p>\n

in the vital, with its passions, its
\ndesires, while the Israelites live chiefly in the mind with a greater power of
\norganisation and of realisation, which is quite exceptional. The Israelites are
\nintellectuals with a remarkable will. They are not sentimental, that is to say
\nthey do not like weakness.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mussulmans<\/span>
\nare impulsive, the Israelites are rational. <\/span><\/p>\n

Japan was in the physical world the

Each of them represents an aspect of the

From the spiritual point of view, the
\nimportance of a country does not depend on its size or its power or its
\nauthority over other countries, but on its response to Truth and on the degree
