Sri Aurobindo’s work is a unique
\nearth-transformation. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Aurobindo incarnated in a human body
\nthe supramental consciousness and has not only revealed to us the nature of the
\npath to follow and the method of following it so as to arrive at the goal, but
\nhas also by his own personal realisation given us the example; he has provided
\nus with the proof that the thing can be done and the time is now to do it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

 Never for an instant vacillate in the
\nbelief that the mighty work of change taken up by Sri Aurobindo is going to
\nculminate in success. For that indeed is a fact: there is not a shadow of doubt
\nas to the issue of the work we have in hand… The transformation is going to
\nbe: nothing will ever stop it, nothing will frustrate the decree of the
\nOmnipotent. Cast away all diffidence and weakness and resolve to endure bravely
\nawhile before the great day arrives when the long battle turns into an
\neverlasting victory. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

We have faith in Sri Aurobindo.<\/span><\/p>\n

He represents for us something we
\nformulate to ourselves with words which seem to us the most exact for
\nexpressing our experience. These words are evidently the best according to us
\nfor formulating our experience.<\/span><\/p>\n

But if, in our enthusiasm, we were convinced
\nthat they are the only appropriate words to express correctly what Sri Aurobindo  <\/span><\/p>\n

is and the experience he has
\ngiven us, we would become dogmatic and be on the point of founding a religion.<\/span><\/p>\n

He who has a spiritual experience and a
\nfaith, formulates it in the most appropriate words for himself. <\/span><\/p>\n

But if he is convinced that this
\nexpression is the only correct and true one for this experience and faith, he
\nbecomes dogmatic and tends to create a religion. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Each one has his own idea and finds out
\nsuitable sentences from Sri Aurobindo’s writings to support his views. Those
\nwho oppose such views can also find suitable sentences from his writings. That
\nis the way mutual opposition works. Nothing can be truly done until Sri
\nAurobindo’s total view of things is taken.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the eternity of becoming, each Avatar
\nis only the announcer, the forerunner of a more perfect realisation. <\/span><\/p>\n

And yet men have always the tendency to deify
\nthe Avatar of the past in opposition to the Avatar of the future. <\/span><\/p>\n

Now again Sri Aurobindo has come
\nannouncing to the world the realisation of tomorrow; and again his message
\nmeets with the same opposition as of all those who preceded him. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>But tomorrow will prove the truth of what he revealed and his work will
\nbe done.<\/span><\/p>\n

The essential mistake was to have
\nconsidered Sri Aurobindo’s teaching as one among the spiritual teachings – and
\nthe work done here now as one among the many aspects of the Divine works.<\/span><\/p>\n

This has falsified your basic position and
\nhas been the cause  <\/span><\/p>\n

If this mistake is corrected in your mind
\nand in your attitude all other difficulties will disappear easily.<\/span><\/p>\n

You must understand that what Sri
\nAurobindo represents in the world’s history, is not a teaching, not even a
\nrevelation; it is a decisive action direct from the Supreme.<\/span><\/p>\n

And I am just trying to fulfil that

Criticising a friend’s paper on Gandhi I
\nquoted Sri Aurobindo’s thoughts on non-violence and some other principles that
\nhave become \u201cabsolutes\u201d in Gandhism<\/span>. The friend
\nprotested that admiration for Sri Aurobindo should not blind us to other great
\nmen: all, according to the friend, have part glimpses of the Truth. I felt it
\nwas a mistake to put Sri Aurobindo along with the rest and I want to reply in
\nsome detail on this point. But I shall do so only if you approve. And I would
\nbe happier if you gave your own answer. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

In the effort of humanity to reach the
\nTruth and manifest it, all those who made a discovery, however small it may be,
\nhave a place, and Gandhi is one of them. <\/span><\/p>\n

But the great mistake has always been to
\noppose these partial discoveries instead of unifying them in a supreme harmony.
\nThat is why humanity is still groping in the dark. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sri Aurobindo has come to reveal that this
\nsupreme harmony exists and to show us the way to discover it.<\/span><\/p>\n
