There is a realisation in inaction like that of those who enter into<br \/>\ncontemplations from which they don&#8217;t come out, and who don&#8217;t move; and then<br \/>\nthere is a dynamic realisation which transforms all your action, all your movements,<br \/>\nall your way of being, your character. In the first case one&#8217;s outer being<br \/>\nremains the same, nothing changes, and usually it destroys all possibility of<br \/>\naction, one can no longer do anything, one remains seated&#8230; In the second<br \/>\ncase, it changes everything, your character, your way of being, your way of<br \/>\nacting, all your actions and even your surroundings, and finally all your<br \/>\nexistence, your total being: this is dynamic realisation, with the<br \/>\ntransformation of the body as its culmination. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Some people try to transform their body<br \/>\nbefore even having transformed their intelligence, and this produces a complete<br \/>\ndisplacement, it unbalances them totally. One must first transform his thought,<br \/>\nall his mind, all his mental activity, organise it with higher knowledge; and<br \/>\nat the same time one must transform his character, all the movements of the<br \/>\nvital, all impulses, all reactions. And finally, when these two things are<br \/>\ndone, in any case up to a certain point, one can begin to think of transforming<br \/>\nthe cells of his body, but not begin at the end; one must begin at the<br \/>\nbeginning. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>One can do&#8230; Sri Aurobindo says, doesn&#8217;t<br \/>\nhe, that one can do everything at the same time, but the centre, the most<br \/>\nimportant part, must first be transformed sufficiently before one can think of<br \/>\ntransforming his body&#8230; like some people who, for example, immediately want to<br \/>\nchange their food or even to stop eating, because, they say, finally when the<br \/>\nSupermind comes &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page \u2013 204<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>one will no longer need to eat. So before<br \/>\nthe Supermind has come they want to begin by what will happen; they stop<br \/>\neating, stop sleeping, and the result is that they fall very ill. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is preferable at first to begin by<br \/>\nreceiving the Supermind in one&#8217;s mind with a sufficient knowledge, and<br \/>\ngradually come to transforming all the rest. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Sweet Mother, what is \u201cthe dynamic side\u201d? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is the same thing. It is this side of<br \/>\nthe yoga. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>There are two aspects: an aspect which is<br \/>\nstatic and a preparation, and a dynamic aspect which is an aspect of transformation,<br \/>\nof action. Dynamic means energetic; it means propulsion, action. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What does \u201cthe negative side\u201d and \u201cthe positive side of experience\u201d<br \/>\nmean? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Ah, my child, you have certain faults, you<br \/>\nknow, things which prevent you from progressing. So, the negative side is to<br \/>\ntry and get rid of your defects. There are things which you have to be, to<br \/>\nbecome, qualities which you must build in yourself in order to realise; so this<br \/>\nside of construction is the positive side. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>You have a defect, for example, a tendency<br \/>\nnot to speak the truth. Now this habit of falsehood, of not seeing or not<br \/>\nspeaking the truth, you fight against it by rejecting falsehood from your<br \/>\nconsciousness and endeavouring to eliminate that habit of not speaking the<br \/>\ntruth. For the thing to be done, you must build in yourself the habit of<br \/>\nspeaking only the truth. For the thing to be done, you must build in yourself<br \/>\nthe habit of perceiving and always telling the truth. One is negative: you<br \/>\nreject a fault. The other is positive: you build the quality. It is like<br \/>\nthat.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For everything it is like that. For<br \/>\nexample, you have somewhere in your being that kind of habit of revolt,<br \/>\nignorant, arrogant,<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page \u2013 205<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;obscure revolt, of refusing what<br \/>\ncomes from above. So, the negative side is to fight against this, to prevent it<br \/>\nfrom expressing itself and reject it from your nature; and on the other side you<br \/>\nmust build positively surrender, understanding, consecration, self-giving and<br \/>\nthe sense of a complete collaboration with the divine forces. This is the<br \/>\npositive side. Do you understand?&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The same thing again: people who get<br \/>\nangry&#8230; the habit of flying into a rage, of getting angry&#8230; one fights<br \/>\nagainst that, refuses to get angry, rejects these vibrations of anger from<br \/>\none&#8217;s being, but this must be replaced by an imperturbable calm, a perfect<br \/>\ntolerance, an understanding of the point of view of others, a clear and<br \/>\ntranquil vision, a calm decision \u2013 which is the positive side. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What is \u201cthe image of the dry coconut fruit\u201d? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is said that when one has realised (it<br \/>\nis in here that he says it), one becomes like the dry coconut which moves in<br \/>\nthe shell, which is free inside, no longer attached to the envelope and moving<br \/>\nfreely within. That&#8217;s what I have heard; it is the image for there being no attachment<br \/>\nany more. You have seen this, when a coconut becomes completely dry, the nut<br \/>\ninside is no longer fixed to the shell; and so when you move it, it moves<br \/>\ninside; it is completely free, it is absolutely independent of the shell. So<br \/>\nthe image of the being is given: the ordinary physical consciousness is the<br \/>\nshell; and so long as the Atman is not completely formed it is attached, it<br \/>\nholds on, it is stuck to the shell, and it cannot be detached; but when it is<br \/>\ncompletely formed it is absolutely free inside, it rolls freely in the shell<br \/>\nwithout being fixed to it. It must be this image. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Sweet Mother, what does this mean: \u201c\u2026one must transfer the allegiance of<br \/>\nthe Purusha from the lower Prakriti\u2026\u201d <\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page \u2013 206<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>You don&#8217;t know what this means? &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>In the ordinary case, of the ordinary<br \/>\nbeing and ordinary life, the Purusha is subjected to Prakriti, to the external<br \/>\nNature, he is her slave. So Sri Aurobindo says that it is not enough to free<br \/>\noneself from this slavery. He begins that way: it is not enough to free oneself<br \/>\nfrom the slavery; he must keep his allegiance, but instead of obeying Prakriti,<br \/>\nhe must obey the Divine Mother; that is, instead of obeying something which is<br \/>\nlower than himself, he must obey what is higher. That is the sentence: transfer<br \/>\nhis allegiance from this to that. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Do you understand? No? Ah, it is probably<br \/>\nsomeone who wrote to him saying that he wanted his Purusha to be completely<br \/>\nfree from allegiance to Prakriti. So he answered: No, that&#8217;s not enough; if you<br \/>\nfree it, it is only half the work; your allegiance must be there, but instead<br \/>\nof being related to Prakriti, it must exist for the Divine Mother. And then<br \/>\nlater he explains the difference. There is an entire passage there in which he<br \/>\nsays that the Divine Mother should not be identified with Prakriti. Naturally<br \/>\nthere is something of the Divine Mother there, because something of the Divine<br \/>\nMother is behind everything. But one must not think that Prakriti is the Divine<br \/>\nMother. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>(Nolini) <i>It is the negative and positive side \u2013 as Tara asked \u2013 of allegiance to<br \/>\nPrakriti.<\/i> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Allegiance to Prakriti, yes, it&#8217;s true. To<br \/>\nget rid of this allegiance to Prakriti is the negative side of the development;<br \/>\none frees himself from his allegiance to Prakriti, but one must take a step<br \/>\nfurther and have the positive side of being surrendered to the Divine Mother. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The last sentence: \u201c\u2026in the Truth-Creation the law is that of a constant<br \/>\nunfolding without any Pralaya.\u201d What is this constant unfolding?<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page \u2013 207<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The Truth-Creation&#8230; it is the last line?<br \/>\n(Mother consults the book) I think we have already spoken about this several<br \/>\ntimes. It has been said that in the process of creation, there is the movement<br \/>\nof creation followed by a movement of preservation and ending in a movement of<br \/>\ndisintegration or destruction; and even it has been repeated very often: \u201cAll<br \/>\nthat begins must end\u201d, etc., etc. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>In fact in the history of our universe<br \/>\nthere have been six consecutive periods which began by a creation, were<br \/>\nprolonged by a force of preservation and ended by a disintegration, a<br \/>\ndestruction, a return to the Origin, which is called Pralaya; and that is why<br \/>\nthis tradition is there. But it has been said that the seventh creation would<br \/>\nbe a progressive creation, that is, after the starting-point of the creation,<br \/>\ninstead of its being simply followed by a preservation, it would be followed by<br \/>\na progressive manifestation which would express the Divine more and more<br \/>\ncompletely, so that no disintegration and return to the Origin would be<br \/>\nnecessary. And it has been announced that the period we are in is precisely the<br \/>\nseventh, that is, it would not end by a Pralaya, a return to the Origin, a<br \/>\ndestruction, a disappearance, but that it would be replaced by a constant<br \/>\nprogress, because it would be a more and more perfect unfolding of the divine<br \/>\nOrigin in its creation. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And this is what Sri Aurobindo says. He<br \/>\nspeaks of a constant unfolding, that is, the Divine manifests more and more<br \/>\ncompletely; more and more perfectly, in a progressive creation. It is the<br \/>\nnature of this progression which makes the return to the Origin, the<br \/>\ndestruction no longer necessary. All that does not progress disappears, and<br \/>\nthat is why physical bodies die, it&#8217;s because they are not progressive; they<br \/>\nare progressive up to a certain moment, then there they stop and most often<br \/>\nthey remain stable for a certain time, and then they begin to decline, and then<br \/>\ndisappear. It&#8217;s because the physical body, physical matter as it is at present<br \/>\nis not plastic enough to be able to progress constantly.
