\n<\/span>In the calm silence of Thy contemplation, O Divine Master, Nature is
\nfortified and tempered anew. All principle of individuality is overpassed, she
\nis plunged in Thy infinity that allows oneness to be realised in all domains
\nwithout confusion, without disorder. The combined harmony of that which
\npersists, that which progresses and that which eternally is, is little by
\nlittle accomplished in an always more complex, more extended and more lofty
\nequilibrium. And this interchange of the three modes of life allows the
\nplenitude of the manifestation. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n<\/span>Many seek Thee at this hour in anguish and incertitude. May I be their
\nmediator with Thee that Thy light may illumine them, that Thy peace may
\nappease. My being is now only a point of support for Thy action and a centre
\nfor Thy consciousness. Where now are the limits, whither have fled the
\nobstacles? Thou art the sovereign Lord of Thy kingdom.

\n<\/span>O sweet Mother, Thou shouldst teach me to be integrally and constantly
\nThyself, entirely consecrated to the giving of an ever more perfect means of
\nexpression to That which wills to manifest…. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>All is calm, serene; there is no more struggle, no more anguish;
\naspiration itself becomes sovereignly peaceful in its immensity, yet loses
\nnothing of its intensity; and through a curious opposition in the
\nconsciousness, like the obverse and reverse sides of a medal, the being
\nperceives at one and the same time, the immutable calm of the infinite Reality
\nin which all is for ever without any possibility of change, and the ardent and
\nrapid march of all that becomes without cessation in an uninterrupted
\nprogression… And to Thee, O Lord, both are equally true.

\n<\/span>Oh, let Light be poured on all the earth and Peace inhabit every
\nheart…. Almost all know only the material life heavy, inert, conservative,
\nobscure; their vital forces are so tied to this physical form of existence
\nthat, even when left to themselves and outside the body, they are still solely
\noccupied with these material contingencies that are yet so harassing and
\npainful…. Those in whom the mental life is awakened are restless, tormented,
\nagitated, arbitrary, despotic. Caught altogether in the whirl of the renewals
\nand transformations of which they dream, they are ready to destroy everything
\nwithout knowledge of any foundation on which to construct, and with their light
\nmade only of blinding flashes they increase yet more the confusion rather than
\nhelp it to cease. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n<\/span>In all there lacks the unchanging peace of Thy sovereign contemplation
\nand the calm vision of Thy immutable eternity. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n<\/span>And with the infinite gratitude of the individual being to whom Thou
\nhast accorded this surpassing grace, I implore Thee, O Lord, that under cover
\nof the present turmoil, in the very heart of this extreme confusion the miracle
\nmay be accomplished and Thy law of supreme serenity and pure unchanging light
\nbecome
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

visible to the perception of all and govern
\nthe earth in a humanity at last awakened to Thy divine consciousness. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>The joy that is contained in activity is compensated and balanced by the
\nperhaps still greater joy contained in withdrawal from all activity; when the
\ntwo states alternate in the being or are even simultaneously conscious, the
\nfelicity is complete, for then, O Lord, Thy plenitude is realised. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>O divine Master, Thou hast granted to me the infinitude of divine
\ncontemplation, the perfect calm of Thy Eternity, and through an identification
\nwith our divine Mother, the All-Realiser, Thou hast permitted me to participate
\nin her sovereign power to be conscious and active… <\/span><\/p>\n

\nmore integral, be laid before the Supreme Reality, the Unthinkable who cannot
\nbe formulated, but who, in time, expresses himself eternally in an ever
\ncompleter and more perfect manifestation. O Thou whom I cannot name, Thou whose
\nwill I perceive in supreme silence and total surrender, let me be the
\nrepresentative of all the earth, so that, united with my consciousness, it may
\ngive itself unreservedly to Thee. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Thou art the perfect peace and the marvellous accomplishment; Thou art
\nall that the universe is, immutably, beyond time, and wants to be more and more
\nin the consciousness of time and space. Thou art all that is in the infinite

\nworld Thy unbelievable boons. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Why this persistent feeling so tinged with uneasiness and expectancy?
\nThe being, entirely turned to Thee, lives in the beatitude of the divine
\ncommunion; all is calm, serene, strong, sovereignly peaceful; all is light in
\nwidened horizons and, in silent contemplation, my devotion has become intenser
\nyet. What then is this sensation which seems as though grafted upon the being
\nand takes on the appearance of a warning given to a consciousness
\ninsufficiently awakened in the domain of Matter? <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0
\n<\/span>I ask why, O Lord, and yet I know that if it is necessary for me to
\nunderstand the reason, Thou hast already told it to me and only my incapacity
\nkeeps me from knowing it; or else to know it is neither useful nor even helpful
\nfor me, and in this case nothing will reply to my question…. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>But the peace becomes more sovereign still and in an infinite harmony
\nthe being takes on its supreme amplitude. <\/span><\/p>\n

\nLord. When will ignorance dissolve? When will pain cease? O Lord, grant that
\neach element of the universe may become conscious of its principle of being
\nand, without disappearing, be transformed; may the veils of egoistic blindness
\nwhich hide Thee be removed and mayst Thou appear resplendent in the total
\nmanifestation. All this is eternally in Thy absolute silence; but it is through
\nan infinite progression that it manifests in the integral consciousness.

\n<\/span>Mother Divine, Thou art with us; every day Thou givest me the assurance
\nand, closely united in an identity that grows more and more total, more and
\nmore constant, we turn to the Lord of the Universe and to That which is beyond
\nin a great aspiration towards the new Light. All the earth is in our arms like
\na sick child who must be cured and for whom one has a special affection because
\nof his very weakness. Cradled on the immensity of the eternal becomings,
\nourselves those becomings, we contemplate hushed and glad the eternity of the
\nimmobile Silence where all is realised in the perfect Consciousness and
\nimmutable Existence, miraculous gate of all the unknown that is beyond. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Then is the veil torn, the inexpressible Glory uncovered and, suffused
\nwith the ineffable Splendour, we turn back towards the world to bring it the
\nglad tidings. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Lord, Thou hast given me the happiness infinite. What being, what
\ncircumstance can have the power to take it away from me?

\nmost humble, most obscure, most material, most outwardly limited, to the
\nvastest, most brilliant, most powerful, most intellectual. <\/span><\/p>\n

\nWill to manifest.

\n<\/span>My aspiration to Thee, O Lord, has taken the form of a beautiful rose,
\nharmonious, full in bloom, rich in fragrance. I stretch it out to Thee with
\nboth arms in a gesture of offering and I ask of Thee: If my understanding is
\nlimited, widen it; if my knowledge is obscure, enlighten it; if my heart is
\nempty of ardour, set it aflame; if my love is insignificant, make it intense;
\nif my feelings are ignorant and egoistic, give them the full consciousness in
\nthe Truth. And the \u201cI\u201d which demands this of Thee, O Lord, is not a little
\npersonality lost amidst thousands of others. It is the whole earth that aspires
\nto Thee in a movement full of fervour. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n<\/span>In the perfect silence of my contemplation all widens to infinity, and
\nin the perfect peace of that silence Thou appearest in the resplendent glory of
\nThy Light.
