Buddhist<br \/>\nand <span class=\"SpellE\">Shankarite<\/span>:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The world is an<br \/>\nillusion, a field of ignorance and suffering due to ignorance. The one thing to<br \/>\ndo is to get out of it as soon as possible and to disappear into the original<br \/>\nNon-Existence or Non-Manifestation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>2. The <span class=\"SpellE\">Vedantic<\/span> as very commonly understood:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The world is essentially<br \/>\ndivine, for the Divine is omnipresent there. But its exterior expression is<br \/>\ndistorted, obscure, ignorant, perverted. The one thing to do is to become<br \/>\nconscious of the inner Divine and remain fixed in that consciousness without<br \/>\ntroubling about the world; for this external world cannot change and will<br \/>\nalways be in its natural state of unconsciousness and ignorance. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>3. Sri <span class=\"SpellE\">Aurobindo<span style='font-family:Georgia'>\u2019<\/span>s<\/span> view:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The world as it is, is<br \/>\nnot the divine creation it is meant to be, but an obscure and perverted<br \/>\nexpression of it. It is not the expression of the divine consciousness and<br \/>\nwill, but this is what it is meant to become; it has been created to develop<br \/>\ninto a perfect manifestation of the Divine under all His forms and aspects <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> light and Knowledge, power, Love and Beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>This is our conception<br \/>\nof it and the aim we follow. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>24 February<br \/>\n 1936<\/span><\/i><i><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The usual <span class=\"SpellE\">sadhanas<\/span> have for aim the union with the Supreme<br \/>\nConsciousness (Sat-chit-<span class=\"SpellE\">ananda<\/span>). And those who reach<br \/>\nthere are satisfied with their own liberation and leave the world to its<br \/>\nunhappy plight. On the contrary, Sri <span class=\"SpellE\">Aurobindo&#8217;s<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">sadhana<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style='font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> 33<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center;line-height:12.0pt'><span style='font-size:10.0pt;color:blue'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" noshade align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>starts where the others end. Once the<br \/>\nunion with the Supreme is <span class=\"SpellE\">realised<\/span> one must bring<br \/>\ndown that <span class=\"SpellE\">realisation<\/span> to the exterior world and<br \/>\nchange the conditions of life upon the earth until a total transformation is<br \/>\naccomplished. In accordance with this aim, the <span class=\"SpellE\">sadhaks<\/span><br \/>\nof the integral yoga do not retire from the world to lead a life of<br \/>\ncontemplation and meditation. Each one must devote at least one third of his<br \/>\ntime to a useful work. All activities are represented in the Ashram and each<br \/>\none chooses the work most congenial to his nature, but must do it in a spirit<br \/>\nof service and unselfishness, keeping always in view the aim of integral<br \/>\ntransformation. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:24pt;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>To make this purpose<br \/>\npossible, the Ashram is <span class=\"SpellE\">organised<\/span> so that all its<br \/>\ninmates find their reasonable needs satisfied and have not to worry about their<br \/>\nsubsistence. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:24pt;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The rules are very few<br \/>\nso that each one can enjoy the freedom needed for his development, but a few<br \/>\nthings are strictly forbidden: they are (1) politics, (2) smoking, (3)<br \/>\nalcoholic drink and (4) sex enjoyment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:24pt;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Great care is taken for<br \/>\nthe maintenance of good health and the welfare and normal growth of the body of<br \/>\nall, small and big, young and old. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>24<br \/>\n September 1953<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What we are doing now is<br \/>\na new thing; it has nothing to do with the past. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>We want the divine<br \/>\nconquest of this world, the conquest of all its movements and the <span class=\"SpellE\">realisation<\/span> of the Divine here. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It can be called an<br \/>\nadventure because it is the first time <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/p>\n<p>that a yoga aims at transformation and <span class=\"SpellE\">divinisation<\/span> of physical life instead of escape from it.<\/span>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style='font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> 34<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center;line-height:12.0pt'><span style='font-size:10.0pt;color:blue'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"1\" width=\"100%\" noshade align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>We want to translate<br \/>\ninto physical terms, as perfectly as possible, the inspiration sent by the Lord<br \/>\nfor the accomplishment of His work upon earth. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And for that, each<br \/>\nindividual soul is a help and a collaborator;
