\nThe Guru <\/span><\/font> <\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In an age like ours
\nsuccess alone counts and the material satisfactions it brings. However, an
\never-increasing number of dissatisfied<\/span> people are
\nseeking to know the reason of life. And, on the other hand, there are sages who
\nknow and strive to help suffering humanity and to spread the light of
\nknowledge. When the two meet, he who knows and he who wants to know, there
\nsprings up a new hope in the world, and a little light penetrates the
\nprevailing darkness. <\/span><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The western mind always
\nfinds it difficult to submit totally to a Guru and without total and
\nunquestioning surrender to the Guru his help to you is paralysed<\/span>.
\nThat is why generally I advise westerners to find the guidance and the Presence
\nwithin themselves; it is true that this process is very often open to
\nuncertainty and self-deception, mistaking some voice of the ego in disguise for
\nthe Divine’s guidance. <\/span><\/p>\n

In both cases, it is
\nonly an absolute sincerity and an unmixed humility that can be your safeguard. <\/span><\/p>\n

If you have faith and
\nconfidence, it is not the human form of the guru that you worship, but the
\nSupreme Lord who manifests through him. <\/span><\/p>\n

\nyourself unreservedly to the Supreme Lord through whatever channel helps you. <\/span><\/p>\n

I am not at all
\nconvinced by X’s theories. This seems to me to be merely the old human \u201canimal\u201d
\ntrying to satisfy its desires by mentalising<\/span> them. <\/span><\/p>\n

Generally speaking, when
\na man starts building yogic theories on his own particular work, one should
\nalways be wary. <\/span><\/p>\n

All work can and should
\nbe done in a yogic spirit. But the \u201csacrifice\u201d should be made to the Supreme Divine <\/i>and not to a human being.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

To each one things<\/span> are said according to his or her capacity of
\nunderstanding. <\/span><\/p>\n

It follows that the
\nknowledge given to one may not be useful or good for another. That is why the
\npersonal teaching of the Guru must not be disclosed to others. <\/span><\/p>\n

The disciples judge the
\nforms by the Master,<\/span> others judge the Master by the
\nforms. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Indians believe (or
\nhave the experience) that the Divine lives in the human being. The Europeans
\ndon’t believe it. For them, he is somewhere above. He has incarnated only in
\nJesus Christ. So they don’t bow down to any human person. But if one bows down
\nto a person who has embodied the Divine Consciousness <\/span>―<\/span>of course with faith <\/span>―<\/span> then that person can
\nmore easily transmit his consciousness (or experience) to the other. <\/span><\/p>\n

Well-known or unknown
\nhas absolutely no importance from the spiritual point of view. <\/span><\/p>\n

One man who earnestly
\npursues the yoga is of more value than a thousand well-known men. <\/span><\/p>\n

Of those who possess a
\ntrue value the power of Yoga will increase the value, but from one who has only
\nsome false appearance of art, even that appearance will vanish or else lose its

Do you wish us to try and intensively spread the Yoga in <\/span><\/i>America<\/span><\/i>? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Yoga cannot be spread by any exterior
