For the sake of sadhana<\/span> and for the sake of
\nwork, it is always better to work
\nsilently<\/i>. <\/span><\/p>\n

When there is some work to do, the less one speaks of it the better it
\nis. <\/span><\/p>\n

Talk as little as possible. <\/span><\/p>\n

Work as much as you can. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

X has a very bad habit of coming and talking to people while they are
\nworking. If he does not work himself, he should at least allow others to work
\nconscientiously. <\/span><\/p>\n

So if he comes again to talk while you are working, you had better tell
\nhim \u2013 \u201dNo, not now, we can talk when I have finished my work.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

It seems to me that the proof of sincerity

I don’t quite
\nunderstand your question. Certainly the work should be done as conscientiously
\nas possible. But that does not mean that you have to be grave. What is

It is always very good to make use of things instead of uselessly

It was an act of ignorance. <\/span><\/p>\n

Received in the right spirit the curtains could have lasted two or three
\nyears more. Received wrongly they might have gone to pieces within a month.
\nThings also have a consciousness of their own. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Divine is in things also and that is why they must be treated with

 <\/span><\/p>\n

What would you say if a temple, built according to the design of some
\ngreat artist, were to boast: \u201cAdmire my merits; am I not beautiful, well-built,
\nsolid and durable? Truly I am worthy of all praise! − ”just as if it
\nwere the author of its own perfections. We would find that very silly and
\nridiculous, and yet that is what we are doing constantly. We, like the temple, are
\nignorant of the great conscious power that has made us what we are, and because
\nwe do not perceive the labour<\/span> of the Sublime Worker,
\nwe ascribe the merit of the Work to ourselves. <\/span><\/p>\n

Power of action: the power which results from a true surrender to the
\nDivine. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Once the consciousness is settled in the aspiration, it cannot depend on
\nwork or absence of work. <\/span><\/p>\n

There is a time for action and there is a time for concentration; if, by
\nmistake, one chooses the time for concentration to start an action, the action
\nis bound to fail. <\/span><\/p>\n

But if one keeps faith alive, even failure can become a shortcut for
\nreaching the Divine. <\/span><\/p>\n

It is true that the divine protection is always around us, but it fully
\nworks only when we are faced by dangers which were unavoidable; that is to say,
\nif dangers suddenly rise on the way <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

when we are doing
\nsome work for the Divine, then the protection works at its best. But to take up
\nsome work which is, after all, not at all indispensable and not even surely
\nuseful and which is extremely dangerous, counting on the divine protection to
\nsave us from all possible consequences, this is a movement which is like a
\nchallenge to the Divine, and the Divine will never accept it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

When action is initiated by the Divine Will, it is pure. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

If in all sincerity one acts only to express the Divine Will, all
\nactions without exception can become unselfish. But as long as this state has
\nnot been reached, there are actions which are more favourable<\/span>
\nfor the contact with the Divine. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Each must find the activity favourable<\/span> to his
\nprogress. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

A good material work not exceeding normal capacities is most useful for
\nkeeping a good physical and moral poise. <\/span><\/p>\n

Have you no intention of working physically yourself? Yet, it is quite
