The<br \/>\nSupramental cannot be taken by storm. When the time is ready it will open of<br \/>\nitself <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><\/i><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>but first there is a great deal to be done and that must be done<br \/>\npatiently and without haste.&#8221;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Sri Aurobindo<\/span><\/i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is good<br \/>\nfor reasonable people. They will say, \u201cThere, he does not promise miracles.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Why? Do many people have<br \/>\nthe tendency to \u201c<span class=\"SpellE\">pull down<\/span>&#8221;?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>People are<br \/>\nin a hurry, they want to see the results immediately. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And then, they believe they are pulling down the Supramental <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>they pull down some small vital individuality who mocks at them<br \/>\nand in the end makes them play the shabby fool. This is what happens most often<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> ninety-nine times out of a hundred.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>A small individuality, a vital entity who plays the big play and<br \/>\nmakes a great show, plays of light. Then the poor fellow who has \u201cpulled&#8221; is<br \/>\nbedazzled; he says, \u201cThere, it is the Supramental&#8221;, and he falls into a pit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is only when you have touched, seen in some way and had a<br \/>\ncontact with the true Light, that you can distinguish the vital, and you<br \/>\nperceive that it is altogether like the plays of light on a stage, an<br \/>\nartificial light. But otherwise, others are dazzled <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>it is <i>dazzling,<\/i> it is<br \/>\n\u201cwonderful&#8221;, and then they are deceived. It is only when you have<i> seen <\/i>and when you have had the con-<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 22<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>tact with<br \/>\nthe Truth, ah! then you smile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is quackery, but you must know the truth in order to recognise<br \/>\nquackery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>At bottom, it is the same for everything. The vital is like a <span class=\"SpellE\">superstage<\/span> that gives shows <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>very<br \/>\nattractive,<i> <\/i>dazzling,<i> <\/i>deceptive; it is only when you know the<br \/>\nTrue Thing that you recognise immediately, instinctively, without reasoning,<br \/>\nand you say, \u201cNo, I do not want that.&#8221;<span>\u00a0\u00a0<br \/>\n<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And for everything it is so. Where it has taken a capital<br \/>\nimportance in human life is with regard to love. Vital passions, vital<br \/>\nattractions have almost everywhere taken the place of true feeling, which is<br \/>\nquiet, whereas the other puts you in ferment, gives you the feeling of<br \/>\nsomething \u201cliving&#8221;. It is very deceptive. And you do not know it, you do not<br \/>\nfeel it, you do not perceive it clearly unless you know the True Thing. If you<br \/>\nhave touched true love through the psychic and the divine union, then the other<br \/>\nthing appears hollow, thin, empty <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>an appearance and a<br \/>\ncomedy, more often tragic than comic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Whatever one may say about it, however one may explain it, is of<br \/>\nno use at all, because he or she who is caught says immediately, \u201cOh, this is<br \/>\nnot what it is for others&#8221; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>what happens to yourself is never like what happens to others! One<br \/>\nmust have the true experience, then the whole vital appears like a masquerade <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>not attractive.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And when you \u201cpull&#8221;, well, it is much more than ninety-nine times<br \/>\nout of one hundred&#8230; out of a million there is found only one case where one<br \/>\nhappens to pull the True Thing-this proves one was ready. Otherwise it is<br \/>\nalways the vital which you pull, the appearance, the theatrical show of the<br \/>\nThing, not the Thing itself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>To pull is always an egoistic movement. It is a deformation of<br \/>\naspiration. True aspiration consists in a giving, a self-giving, whereas to<br \/>\npull means to want for oneself. Even if in the mind you have a vaster ambition <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>the earth, the universe <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>that means nothing,<br \/>\nthese are mental activities<\/span><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>.<\/span><span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 23<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;(<i>Long silence<\/i>)<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>You felt nothing special on the <span class=\"SpellE\">Darshan<\/span><br \/>\nday?<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>No<\/span><\/i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>. <\/span><br \/>\n<span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Sri<br \/>\nAurobindo was there from the morning till the evening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For, yes, for more than an hour he made me live, as in a concrete<br \/>\nand living vision of the condition of humanity and of the different strata of<br \/>\nhumanity in relation to the new or supramental creation. And it was wonderfully<br \/>\nclear and concrete and living&#8230;. There was all the humanity which is no longer<br \/>\naltogether animal, which has benefited by mental development and created a kind<br \/>\nof harmony in its life <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>a harmony vital and artistic, literary <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>in which the large majority are content to live. They have caught<br \/>\na kind of harmony, and within it they live life as it exists in a civilised<br \/>\nsurrounding, that is to say, somewhat cultured, with refined tastes and refined<br \/>\nhabits. And all this life has a certain beauty where they are at ease, and<br \/>\nunless something catastrophic happens to them, they live happy and contented,<br \/>\nsatisfied with life. These people can be drawn (because they have a taste, they<br \/>\nare intellectually developed), they can be attracted by the new forces, the new<br \/>\nthings, the future life; for example, they can become disciples of Sri<br \/>\nAurobindo mentally, intellectually. But they do not feel at all the need to<br \/>\nchange materially; and if they were compelled to do so, it would be first of<br \/>\nall premature, unjust, and would simply create a great disorder and disturb<br \/>\ntheir life altogether uselessly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>This was very clear.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Then there were some <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>rare individuals <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> who were ready to make the necessary effort to prepare for the<br \/>\ntransformation and to draw the new forces, to try to adapt Matter, to seek<br \/>\nmeans of expression, etc. These are ready for the yoga of Sri Aurobindo. They<br \/>\nare very few in number. There are even those<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 24<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>who have the<br \/>\nsense of sacrifice and are ready for a hard, painful life, if that would lead<br \/>\nor help towards this future transformation. But they should not, they should<br \/>\nnot in any way try to influence the others and make them share in their own<br \/>\neffort; it would be altogether unfair <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>not only unfair, but<br \/>\nextremely maladroit, for it would change the universal rhythm and movement, or<br \/>\nat least the terrestrial movement, and instead of helping, it would create<br \/>\nconflicts and end in a chaos.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>But it was so living, so real that my whole attitude (how to say<br \/>\nit? <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> a passive attitude which is not the result of an active will),<br \/>\nthe whole position taken in the work has changed. And that has brought a peace <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>a peace and a calmness and a confidence altogether decisive. A<br \/>\ndecisive change. And even what seemed in the earlier position to be obstinacy,<br \/>\nclumsiness, inconscience, all kinds of deplorable things, all that has<br \/>\ndisappeared. It was like the vision of a great universal Rhythm in which each<br \/>\nthing takes its place and&#8230; everything is all right. And the effort for<br \/>\ntransformation, reduced to a small number, becomes a thing much more precious and<br \/>\nmuch more powerful for the realisation. It is as though a choice has been made<br \/>\nfor those who will be the pioneers of the new creation. And all these ideas of<br \/>\n\u201cspreading&#8221;, of \u201cpreparing&#8221;, or of \u201cchurning Matter&#8221;&#8230; are a childishness.<br \/>\nIt is human restlessness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The vision was of a beauty so majestic, so calm, so smiling. Oh!<br \/>\nIt was full, truly full of the divine Love. And not a divine Love that<br \/>\n\u201cpardons&#8221;-it is not at all that, not at all! Each thing in its place,<br \/>\nrealising its inner rhythm as perfectly as it can.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It was a very beautiful gift.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Well, all these things people know in some part, intellectually,<br \/>\nlike that, in idea; they know all that, but it is quite useless. In everyday<br \/>\npractice you live in another way, with a truer understanding. And there, it is<br \/>\nas though you touched the things <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>you saw them, you<br \/>\ntouched them <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>in their higher disposition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It came after a vision of plants and the spontaneous beauty <\/span><br \/>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 25.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>of plants<br \/>\n(it is something so wonderful), then of the animal with so harmonious a life<br \/>\n(so long as men do not intervene), and all that was in its right place; then of<br \/>\nthe true humanity as humanity, that is to say, the maximum of what a mental<br \/>\npoise could create of beauty, harmony, charm, elegance of life, taste of living<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>a taste of living in beauty, and, naturally, suppressing all that<br \/>\nis ugly and low and vulgar. It was a fine humanity <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>humanity at its maximum, but nice. And perfectly satisfied with<br \/>\nits being humanity, because it lives harmoniously. And it is perhaps also like<br \/>\na promise of what almost the whole of humanity will become under the influence<br \/>\nof the new creation. It appeared to me that it was what the supramental<br \/>\nconsciousness could make of humanity. There was even a comparison with what<br \/>\nhumanity has made of the animal species. It is extremely mixed, naturally, but<br \/>\nthings have been perfected, bettered, utilised more completely. <span class=\"SpellE\">Animality<\/span>, under the mind&#8217;s influence, has become another<br \/>\nthing, which is, naturally, something mixed because the mind was incomplete. In<br \/>\nthe same way there are examples of a harmonious humanity among well <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>balanced people, and this seemed to be what humanity could become<br \/>\nunder the supramental influence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Only, it is very far ahead. You must not expect that it will be<br \/>\nimmediately <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>it is very far ahead.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is clearly, even now, a period of transition which may last<br \/>\nquite long and which is rather painful. Only, the effort, sometimes painful<br \/>\n(often painful) is compensated by a clear vision of the goal to attain, of the<br \/>\ngoal that will be attained: an assurance, yes, a certainty. But it would be<br \/>\nsomething that would have the power to eliminate all error, all deformation,<br \/>\nall the ugliness of the mental life <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>and then a humanity very<br \/>\nhappy, very satisfied with being human, not at all feeling the need of being<br \/>\nanything other than human, but with a human beauty, a human harmony.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It was very charming, it was as though I lived in it. And it was very good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>And this brings a great repose. The tension, the friction, all<br \/>\nthat disappeared, and the impatience. All that had completely disappeared.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.5in;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>That is to say, you<br \/>\nconcentrate the work instead of diffusing it a little everywhere?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>No, it may<br \/>\nbe diffused materially, because the individuals are not necessarily collected<br \/>\ntogether. Apart from those who are fit to prepare the transformation and the<br \/>\nsupramental realisation, and whose number is necessarily very restricted, there<br \/>\nmust develop more and more, in the midst of the ordinary human mass, a superior<br \/>\nhumanity which has towards the supramental being of the future or in the making<br \/>\nthe same attitude as <span class=\"SpellE\">animality<\/span>, for example, has<br \/>\ntowards man. There must be, besides those who work for the transformation and<br \/>\nwho are ready for it, a superior humanity, intermediary, which has found in<br \/>\nitself or in life this harmony with Life <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>this harmony human <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>and which has the same feeling of adoration, devotion, faithful<br \/>\nconsecration to \u201csomething&#8221; which seems to it so high that it does not even<br \/>\ntry to realise it, but worships it and feels the need of its influence, its<br \/>\nprotection, and the need to live under this influence, to have the delight of<br \/>\nbeing under this protection. It was so clear. But not this anguish, these<br \/>\ntorments of wanting something that escapes you because <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>because it is not<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 27<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>your destiny<br \/>\nyet to have it, and because the amount of transformation needed is premature<br \/>\nfor your life and it is that then which creates a disorder and suffering. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For example, one of the very concrete things that brings out the<br \/>\nproblem well: humanity has the sexual impulse in a way altogether natural,<br \/>\nspontaneous and, I would say, legitimate. This impulse will naturally and<br \/>\nspontaneously disappear with <span class=\"SpellE\">animality<\/span>. Many other<br \/>\nthings will disappear, as for example the need to eat and perhaps also the need<br \/>\nto sleep in the way we sleep now. But the most conscious impulse in a superior<br \/>\nhumanity, which has continued as a source of&#8230; bliss is a big word, but joy,<br \/>\ndelight <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>is certainly the sexual activity, and that will have absolutely no<br \/>\nreason for existence in the functions of Nature when the need to create in that<br \/>\nway will no longer exist. Therefore, the capacity of entering into relation<br \/>\nwith the joy of life will rise by one step or will be oriented differently. But<br \/>\nwhat the ancient spiritual aspirants had sought on principle <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>sexual negation <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>is an absurd thing, because this must be only for those who have<br \/>\ngone beyond this stage and no longer have <span class=\"SpellE\">animality<\/span><br \/>\nin them. And it must drop off naturally, without effort and without struggle.<br \/>\nTo make of it a centre of conflict and struggle is ridiculous. It is only when<br \/>\nthe consciousness ceases to be human that it drops off quite naturally. Here<br \/>\nalso there is a transition which may be somewhat difficult, because the beings<br \/>\nof transition are always in an unstable equilibrium; but within oneself there<br \/>\nis a kind of flame and a need which makes it not painful <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>it is not painful effort, it is something that one can do with a<br \/>\nsmile. But to seek to impose it upon those who are not ready for this<br \/>\ntransition is absurd.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is common sense. They are human, but they must not pretend that<br \/>\nthey are not.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is only when spontaneously the impulse becomes impossible for<br \/>\nyou, when you feel that it is something painful and contrary to your deeper<br \/>\nneed that it becomes easy; then, well, externally you cut these bonds and it is<br \/>\nfinished.<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 28<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><i><span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\"'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/i><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is one of<br \/>\nthe most convincing examples.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>It is the same with regard to food. It will be the same thing.<br \/>\nWhen <span class=\"SpellE\">animality<\/span> will drop off, the absolute necessity<br \/>\nof food also will drop off. And there will probably be a transition where one<br \/>\nwill have less and less purely material food. For example, when you smell<br \/>\nflowers it is nourishing. I have seen it, you nourish yourself in a more subtle<br \/>\nway.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Only, the body is not ready. The body is not ready and it<br \/>\ndeteriorates, that is to say, it eats itself. This proves that the time has not<br \/>\ncome, that it is only an experience <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213; <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>an experience that<br \/>\nteaches you something, teaches you that it will not be a brutal refusal to come<br \/>\ninto contact with the corresponding Matter and an isolation (one cannot isolate<br \/>\noneself, it is impossible), but a communion on a higher or deeper plane.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>(<i>Silence<\/i>)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Those who have reached the higher regions of intelligence, but<br \/>\nhave not dominated the mental faculties in them, have an innocent need that<br \/>\neverybody should think like them and be able to understand as they understand.<br \/>\nAnd when they see that others do not, cannot understand, their first reflex is<br \/>\nto be horribly shocked; they exclaim, \u201cWhat an idiot!&#8221; But they are not at all<br \/>\nidiots <\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Lucida Console\"'>&#8213;<br \/>\n<\/span><span style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>they are different, they are in another domain.
