In
\nconnection with a question on the need for continuity in organising the work
\nwith young children, Mother made the following remarks: <\/span><\/p>\n

But there is one thing, one thing which is the main difficulty: it
\nis the parents. When the children live with their parents I consider that it is
\nhopeless, because the parents want their child to be educated as they were
\nthemselves, and they want them to get good jobs, to earn money \u2013 all the things
\nthat are contrary to our aspiration. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>The children who are with
\ntheir parents…really, I don’t know what to do. The parents have such a great
\ninfluence on them that in the end they ask to go away to a school somewhere
\nelse. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>And that, of all the
\ndifficulties \u2013 all of them \u2013 that is the greatest: the influence of the
\nparents. And if we try to counteract that influence the parents will begin to
\ndetest us and it will be even worse than before, because they will say
\nunpleasant things about us. There. <\/span><\/p>\n

That is my experience. In ninety-nine cases out of a hundred the
\nchildren have taken a bad turn because of the parents. This seems indispensable
\nto me. We should write a circular letter saying: \u201cParents who want their
\nchildren to be educated in the ordinary way and learn in order to get a good
\njob, to earn their living and have brilliant careers, should not send them
\nhere.\u201d There. <\/span><\/p>\n

We should…And that is very important. <\/span><\/p>\n

You see, there are many, many parents who send their children here
\nbecause it is less expensive than anywhere else. And that is worse than anything,
\nworse than anything. We should…we should…we must absolutely tell them: \u201cIf
\nyou want your children to be educated in order to have a brilliant career, to
\nearn money, do not send them here.\u201d There. <\/span>
\n <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n

A: Mother,
\nwe shall write a circular letter and I shall read you the text. We shall write
\nsomething with B and the <\/span><\/i>others. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

There were some children who were doing very well and were very
\nhappy. They went to their parents for the holidays and came back completely
\nchanged and spoiled. And then if we tell them that, it will be even worse
\nbecause their parents will tell them, \u201cOh, these people are bad, they are
\nturning you against us.\u201d So it must be…the parents must know that before they
\nsend them. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>This has been my experience
\nfor so many, so many, so many years, so many years! The danger is not the
\nchildren, it is not laziness, it is not even that the children are rebellious:
\nthe danger, the great danger is the parents. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Those who send their
\nchildren here should do it knowingly, they should do it because it is unlike
\nanywhere else. And there are many who won’t come…And those who come only
\nbecause it is less expensive, well, they will stop sending them. <\/span><\/p>\n

When
\nthe teacher was about to leave, Mother added: <\/span><\/p>\n

I would like…I would like the attitude of our school to be made
\nknown to people before they send their children, because it is a pity when the
\nchildren are happy and the parents are not; and that creates situations that
\nare ridiculous and sometimes dangerous. This is very important, very important!<\/span> <\/font><\/span><\/p>\n
