When the<br \/>\npriest chants Anathema Maranatha, then I see a devil praying.<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>458 &#8722; No doubt, when the priest curses, he is crying to God; but<br \/>\nit is the God of anger and darkness to whom he devotes himself along with his<br \/>\nenemy; for as he approaches God, so shall God receive him. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>459 &#8722; I was much plagued by Satan, until I found that it was God<br \/>\nwho was tempting me; then the anguish of him passed out of my soul for ever. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>460 &#8722; I hated the devil and was sick with his temptations and<br \/>\ntortures; and I could not tell why the voice in his departing words was so<br \/>\nsweet that when he returned often and offered himself to me, it was with sorrow<br \/>\nI refused him. Then I discovered it was <\/span><\/b><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Krishna<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><span><br \/>\nat His tricks and my hate was changed<\/span><b> <\/b><br \/>\n<span>into laughter<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>461 &#8722; They explained the evil in the world by saying that Satan<br \/>\nhad prevailed against God; but I think more proudly of my Beloved. I believe that<br \/>\nnothing is done but by His will in heaven or hell, on earth or on the waters<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>I<\/span><\/i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>n the Supreme, opposites are reconciled<br \/>\nand complement each other. When we wake, we look back and see that God<br \/>\nwas leading and upholding us always<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>463 &#8722; At first whenever I fell back into sin, I used to weep and<br \/>\nrage against myself and against God for having suffered it. We owe a debt of service to the world and are<br \/>\nbound to it by a law, a compelling opinion, and a common experience of pain and<br \/>\npleasure, but our heart&#8217;s worship and our free and secret joy are for our<br \/>\nLover. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>465 &#8722; The joy of God is secret and wonderful; it is a mystery and<br \/>\na rapture at which common sense makes mouths of mockery; but the soul that has<br \/>\nonce tasted<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 342<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\";color:blue'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>it, can never renounce, whatever worldly disrepute, torture and<br \/>\naffliction it may bring us. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For the moment, the world still seems to<br \/>\nbe in contradiction with the pure and luminous divine joy; but a day will come<br \/>\nwhen the world too will manifest this joy. This is what we must prepare it for. <i><br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p><\/span><i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><font size=\"2\">9 April 1970<\/font><\/span><\/i><b><span style='font-family:Times New Roman' lang=\"EN-US\"><font size=\"2\">\u00a0<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><a name=\"466\">466<\/a> &#8722; God, the world Guru, is wiser than thy mind; trust Him and<br \/>\nnot that eternal self-seeker and arrogant sceptic. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>467 &#8722; The sceptic mind doubts always because it cannot understand,<br \/>\nbut the faith of the God-lover persists in knowing although it cannot<br \/>\nunderstand. Both are necessary to our darkness, but there can be no doubt which<br \/>\nis the mightier. What I cannot understand now, I shall some day master, but if<br \/>\nI lose faith and love, I fall utterly from the goal which God has set before<br \/>\nme. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>468 &#8722; I may question God, my guide and teacher, and ask Him, \u201cAm I<br \/>\nright or hast Thou in thy love and wisdom suffered my mind to deceive me?\u201d<br \/>\nDoubt thy mind, if thou wilt, but doubt not that God leads thee. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Life is given to us to find the Divine and<br \/>\nunite with Him.<i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The mind tries to persuade us that it is<br \/>\nnot so. Man, dost thou doubt thy teacher because he gave not thee the whole<br \/>\nof knowledge at the beginning? Study rather that imperfect truth and put it in<br \/>\nits place, so that thou mayst pass on safely to the wider knowledge that is now<br \/>\nopening before thee. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>470 &#8722; This is how God in His love teaches the child soul and the<br \/>\nweakling, taking them step by step and withholding the vision of His ultimate<br \/>\nand yet unattainable mountain-tops. And have we not all some weakness? Are we<br \/>\nnot all in His sight but as little children? <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>471 &#8722; This I have seen that whatever God has withheld from me, He<br \/>\nwithheld in His love and wisdom. Had I grasped it then, I would have turned<br \/>\nsome great good into a great poison. Yet sometimes when we insist, He gives us<br \/>\npoison to drink that we may learn to turn from it and taste with knowledge His<br \/>\nambrosia and His nectar<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>When man becomes a little wiser, he will<br \/>\nnot complain about anything and will take the things the Divine sends him as a<br \/>\nmanifestation of His all-compassionate Grace.<i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The more surrendered we are, the more we<br \/>\nshall understand.<i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>The more grateful we are, the happier we<br \/>\nshall be. &nbsp;<i><\/i><\/span><i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><font size=\"2\">11 April 1970<\/font><\/span><\/i><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><a name=\"472\">472<\/a> &#8722; Even the atheist ought now to be able to see that creation<br \/>\nmarches towards some infinite and mighty purpose which evolution in its very<br \/>\nnature supposes. But infinite purpose and fulfilment presupposes an infinite<br \/>\nwisdom that prepares, guides, shapes, protects and justifies. Revere then that<br \/>\nWisdom and worship it with thoughts in thy soul if not with incense in a<br \/>\ntemple, and even though<\/span><\/b><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='margin:0;text-align:center;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Page &#8211; 344<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style='text-align:center'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:\"Courier New\";color:blue'><\/p>\n<hr size=\"2\" width=\"100%\" align=\"center\">\n<p><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>thou deny it the heart of infinite Love and the mind of infinite self-<br \/>\neffulgence. Then though thou know it not, it is still Krishna whom thou<br \/>\nreverest and worshippest. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Beyond words, beyond thoughts, the Supreme<br \/>\nPresence makes itself felt and compels our wonder.<i><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;text-indent:.25in;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>Let us beware of all mental constructions<br \/>\nthat limit and distort. Neighbourhood and distance affect the body, the heart<br \/>\ngoes beyond them. Brotherhood is of blood or country or religion or humanity,<br \/>\nbut when self-interest clamours what becomes of this brotherhood?
