The psychic can and<br \/>\nmust become conscious of the Divine at its centre and consciously unite with<br \/>\nHim. <span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><font size=\"2\"><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>7 August 1969 <\/span><br \/>\n<\/font> <\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'><a name=\"130\">130<\/a> \u2013 Fate is God&#8217;s foreknowledge outside Space and Time of all that in<br \/>\nSpace and Time shall yet happen; what He has foreseen, Power and Necessity work<br \/>\nout by the conflict of forces. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>If everything is foreseen, what is the role of human<br \/>\naspiration and effort? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>In each domain (physical, vital and<br \/>\nmental) everything is foreseen; but the intrusion of a higher domain<br \/>\n(overmental and beyond) introduces another determinism into events and can<br \/>\nchange the course of things. Up then and be doing, not with egoism, but as the<br \/>\ncircumstance, instrument and apparent cause of the event that He has<br \/>\npredetermined. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'>132 \u2013 When I knew nothing, then I abhorred the criminal, sinful and<br \/>\nimpure, being myself full of crime, sin and impurity; but when I was cleansed<br \/>\nand my eyes unsealed, then I bowed down in my spirit before the thief and the<br \/>\nmurderer and adored the feet of the harlot; for I saw that these souls had<br \/>\naccepted the terrible burden of evil and drained for all of us the greater<br \/>\nportion of the churned poison of the world-ocean. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>For one who has fully realised that the<br \/>\nworld is nothing but the One Supreme in His manifestation, all human moral<br \/>\nnotions necessarily disappear to give way to a vision of the whole in which all<br \/>\nvalues are changed \u2013 oh, how greatly changed!<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'>\n<span style='font-family:Times New Roman' lang=\"EN-US\"><br \/>\n<font size=\"2\">\u00a0<\/font><\/span><i><font size=\"2\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>14 August 1969 <\/span><\/font> <\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\";font-style:italic'><a name=\"133\">133<\/a> \u2013 The Titans are stronger than the gods because they have agreed<br \/>\nwith God to front and bear the burden of His wrath and enmity; the gods were<br \/>\nable to accept only the pleasant burden of His love and kindlier rapture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>To understand rightly what Sri Aurobindo<br \/>\ntruly means, one must know the wonderful sense of humour in his way of<br \/>\nthinking. &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"right\" style='margin:0;text-align:right;line-height:150%'><i><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'><span><font size=\"2\">\u00a0<\/font><\/span><font size=\"2\">16 August 1969<br \/>\n<\/font> <\/span><\/i><br \/>\n<font size=\"2\"><br \/>\n<span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><i><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>So the gods are cowards! Why do we worship inferior beings? And the Titans<br \/>\nmust be the most lovable sons of the Divine? <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;text-align:justify;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\" style='font-size:12.0pt;font-family:\"Times New Roman\"'>What Sri Aurobindo writes here is a paradox<br \/>\nto awaken sluggish minds. But one must understand all the irony these phrases<br \/>\ncontain and above all the intention he puts behind the words. Besides, cowardly<br \/>\nor not, I see no need for us to worship the gods, great or small.
