Sweet Mother, where does our
\ntrue spiritual life begin? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

The true spiritual life begins when one is in communion with the
\nDivine in the psychic, when one is conscious of the divine Presence in the
\npsychic and in constant communion with the psychic. Then the spiritual life
\nbegins, not before. The true spiritual life.<\/span><\/p>\n

 When one is united with
\none\u2019s psychic being and conscious of the divine Presence, and receives the
\nimpulses for one\u2019s action from this divine Presence, and when the will has
\nbecome a conscious collaborator with the divine Will that is the
\nstarting-point. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Before that, one may be
\nan aspirant to the spiritual life, but one doesn\u2019t have a spiritual life. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet Mother, I would like to
\nhave the explanation of a sentence. Sri Aurobindo has said somewhere,
\n\u201cMaterially you are nothing, spiritually you are everything.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

That means that it is the Spirit, the spiritual consciousness
\nand the divine Presence which give to life all its value, that without this
\nspiritual consciousness and divine Presence life has no value. <\/span><\/p>\n

 The same holds true for
\nthe individual, whatever his material capacities and the material conditions in
\nwhich he lives, his only worth is that of the divine Presence and the spiritual
\nconsciousness in him. <\/span><\/p>\n

 And so from the point of
\nview of the truth of things, a man who has no material possessions and no
\nremarkable capacities or possibilities, but who is conscious of his psychic
\nbeing and united with the Divine in him, is infinitely greater than a ruler
\nupon earth or a millionaire who possesses considerable material power but is
\nunconscious of his psychic being. <\/span><\/p>\n

From the point of view of the
\ntruth, it is like that. This is what Sri Aurobindo means: no apparent and outer
\nthings have any true value. The only thing which is valuable is the divine
\nconsciousness and union with the Spirit. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Mother, according to what you
\nsaid last time, there is still the question of those who are not consciously
\nopen to the new Force. Then how will they be influenced? Will it be by the
\nspiritual force but not by the supramental?<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

What, what, what? <\/span><\/p>\n

 What difference do you
\nmake between the spiritual force and the supramental? <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

No. But you said that those who
\nhave done nothing or have not given themselves, how can they hope to be
\ninfluenced or to profit by this Force? Those who are here but are not
\nconsciously open, will they be influenced also? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Influenced, yes. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

They will also be helped? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

But if they don\u2019t care to be helped! You want to help them
\ndespite themselves? <\/span><\/p>\n

 If one aspires, wants the
\nhelp, even if the opening is very small, still there is necessarily some
\nopening. But if one doesn\u2019t want to be helped\u2026 Or rather, I could say there are
\npeople who are sure they don\u2019t need to be helped, they feel that they can help
\nthemselves quite well, that they need no help, that it is they who do the work,
\nthey who make the progress, they who do everything. So they don\u2019t want help,
\nthey feel no need for it. Why do you want them to be helped when they don\u2019t
\ncare for it? <\/span><\/p>\n

But you said that even the
\nblind will be obliged to realise it. <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

I said that it will be visible even to those who are ill-willed
\n\u2013 is that what you mean? But that\u2019s quite different. When you receive a punch
\non the nose, you have to recognise something even though it hasn\u2019t helped you! <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

No. When one recognises this
\nForce\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Yes.  <\/span><\/p>\n

One is bound to be open\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Yes.  <\/span><\/p>\n

So even one who didn\u2019t want to
\nbe helped so far, will want it. <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Recognise this Force? <\/span>―<\/span> Oh! when he has received the
\npunch! (Laughter<\/i>) <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Perhaps. It may happen.
\nAnything can happen. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

So, even one who is now
\nunconscious will open under the blow. <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

And then? What is your conclusion? What do you expect to happen?
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

\nThat is to say, he will see that it is a miracle. <\/span><\/i>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

That he\u2019s been punched? (Laughter)
\n<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

 He won\u2019t call that a
\nmiracle, he will call it a bad deed. He will say, \u201cThat\u2019s bad luck, it\u2019s my
\nunfortunate fate, it is an injustice\u201d, he will say anything at all, as people
\nare in the habit of saying.<\/span><\/p>\n

But what I have not yet caught
\nis the point of your question. What are you driving at? You mean the whole
\nworld whether it wants it or not, whether it aspires or not, whether it
\nrecognises it or not, will sooner or later come under the influence of the
\nsupramental presence on earth is that what you mean? <\/span>
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

No. <\/span><\/i><\/b>
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

Ah! what a pity, for that had some meaning. (Laughter<\/i>) And I would have answered, \u201cYes\u201d <\/span>―<\/span> and then it would have been
\nover! <\/span>
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

No. Those who are half open\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n

They will receive half more than those who are not open at all! (Laughter)<\/i> <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

This manifestation will make
\nthem aspire more? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Ah! that I don\u2019t know. It must depend on the case. For each one
\nit will be different. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Is it for yourself you are
\npleading? <\/span>
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

Yes. <\/span><\/i><\/b>
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

Oh! Oh! You want to know what will happen to you? <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Set your mind at rest, it will
\nbe quite all right. I could almost say as for the banner of Joan of Arc: \u201cYou
\nhave shared in the labour, you will share in the Glory.\u201d There then, are you
\nsatisfied? <\/span>
