The first<br \/>\nare periods when even a little effort produces great results and changes<br \/>\ndestiny; the second are spaces of time when much labour goes to the making of a<br \/>\nlittle result. It is true that the latter may prepare the former, may be the<br \/>\nlittle smoke of sacrifice going up to heaven which calls down the rain of God\u2019s<br \/>\nbounty.<\/p>\n<p><\/font>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%\"><font size=\"3\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Unhappy<br \/>\nis the man or the nation which, when the divine moment arrives, is found<br \/>\nsleeping or unprepared to use it, because the lamp has not been kept trimmed for<br \/>\nthe welcome and the ears are sealed to the call. But thrice woe to them who are<br \/>\nstrong and ready, yet waste the force or misuse the moment; for them is<br \/>\nirreparable loss or a great destruction.<\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"TxBrp3\" style=\"line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"justify\"><font size=\"3\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<br \/>\nIn<br \/>\nthe hour of God cleanse thy soul of all self-deceit and hypocrisy and vain<br \/>\nself-flattering that thou mayst look straight into thy spirit and hear that<br \/>\nwhich summons it. All insincerity of nature, once thy defence against the eye of<br \/>\nthe Master and the light of the ideal, becomes now a gap in thy armour and<br \/>\ninvites the blow. Even if thou conquer for the moment, it is the worse for thee,<br \/>\nfor the blow shall come afterwards and cast thee down in the midst of thy<br \/>\ntriumph. But being pure cast aside all fear; for the hour is often terrible, a<br \/>\nfire and a whirlwind and a tempest, a treading of the winepress of the wrath of<br \/>\nGod; but he who can stand up in it on the truth of his purpose is he who shall<br \/>\nstand; even though he fall, he shall rise again; even though he seem to pass on<br \/>\nthe wings of the wind, he shall return. Nor let worldly prudence whisper too<br \/>\nclosely in thy ear; for it is the hour of the unexpected.<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"TxBrp3\" style=\"line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"center\">\nPage<br \/>\n&#8211; 1<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p class=\"TxBrp3\" style=\"line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"left\">\n<b><br \/>\n<a name=\"Certitudes\">Certitudes<\/p>\n<p><\/a><br \/>\n<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;line-height:150%\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;line-height:150%\"><b>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; IN<br \/>\n<\/b>THE<b><font size=\"3\"><br \/>\n<\/font><br \/>\n<\/b> <font size=\"3\"> deep there is a greater deep, in the heights a greater height. Sooner<br \/>\nshall man arrive at the borders of infinity than at the fullness of his own<br \/>\nbeing. For that being is infinity, is God.<br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"><font size=\"3\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; I aspire to infinite force, infinite<br \/>\nknowledge, infinite bliss. Can I attain it ? Yes, but the nature of infinity is<br \/>\nthat it has no end. Say not therefore that I attain it. I become it. Only so can<br \/>\nman attain God by becoming God.<\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"><font size=\"3\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; But before attaining he can enter into<br \/>\nrelations with Him. To enter into relations with God is Yoga, the supreme object<br \/>\nand the noblest utility. There are relations within the compass of the humanity<br \/>\nwe have developed. These are called prayer, worship, adoration, sacrifice,<br \/>\nthought, faith, science, philosophy. There are other relations beyond our<br \/>\ndeveloped capacity, but within the compass of the humanity we have yet to<br \/>\ndevelop. Those are the relations that are attained by the various practices we<br \/>\nusually call Yoga.<\/p>\n<p><\/font><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-align:justify;line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\"><font size=\"3\">We may not know Him as God, we may<br \/>\nknow Him as Nature, our Higher Self, Infinity, some ineffable Goal. It was so<br \/>\nthat Buddha approached Him; so approaches Him the rigid Adwaitin. He is<br \/>\naccessible even to the Atheist. To the Materialist He disguises Himself in<br \/>\nmatter. The currents of life well up to meet the descending rays light from<br \/>\nthe upper heavens for transmutation of the base end the dark into the luminous<br \/>\nand the true, for transmutation of the ugly and the wrong into the beautiful and<br \/>\nthe right.&nbsp;<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;line-height:150%\"><font size=\"3\"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; O Mother of Radiances, you have dawned in the narrow horizons of my mind.<br \/>\nOut of its depthless rigidities, in the midst its walled-up spaces you have<br \/>\ncreated a heart-like something that will live its eternal life. You have revealed to<br \/>\nme a chamber alive and warm within the mind&#8217;s substanceless polar regions and there I<br \/>\ncan safely retire and find in you my refuge.&nbsp;<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;line-height:150%\"><font size=\"3\"> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The lower network of moving forces<br \/>\nremains, but I feel your presence in its midst. The higher network of moving<br \/>\nforces remains, and here you have stepped in also shedding a warmth of live that<br \/>\nwas not there before, you have turned the dull grey luminosity into a brilliance of<br \/>\nliving waters. Your active and living presence is everywhere; you have heeded my<br \/>\nwords of aspiration, the fire of my demand for your omnipresence. More than I<br \/>\nignorantly sought for, you have revealed to me.
