\u201cBeyond the limited human
\nconception of God, he will s to the one divine Eternal\u2026.\u201d <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

What man calls God is a limited consciousness of God, not the full
\nconsciousness of God; so he will go beyond this limited consciousness of God
\nand towards the true Divine. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Sri Aurobindo means that
\nman has a limited knowledge, a limited consciousness and perception and
\nexperience of God,\u00a0 <\/span>not the full
\nexperience of the Divine, and that he must pass beyond this knowledge and
\nperception in order to go to the vaster and truer perception. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet Mother, the justification
\nof earthly existence\u2026<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Yes, the justification of earthly existence is that one is on
\nearth to realise the Divine. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Without this reason
\nearthly life would be a monstrosity.  <\/span><\/p>\n

(Silence)<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

If there were not this supreme reason, of rediscovering the
\nDivine and being Him, manifesting Him, realising Him externally, earthly life
\nas it is would be something monstrous. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Naturally, the more
\npeople are unconscious, the less do they understand this, for they do not
\nobjectify, they live mechanically, according to habit, without even
\nobjectifying or being aware of their way of living. And as the consciousness
\ngrows, they realise the kind of monstrous hell life is <\/span>― <\/span>life as it is. <\/span><\/p>\n

 And it is only when one
\nbecomes conscious of that towards which<\/i><\/span> this life leads,
\nthat one can accept it and understand it. It is only this purpose of life which
\nmakes it acceptable. <\/span><\/p>\n

Without that it would truly be a frightful monstrosity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet Mother, what is a \u201cdivine
\npleasure\u201d?<\/span>\u00b9<\/span> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

It is the pleasure of the Divine. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

How? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

What do you want me to tell you, child? You must live it and
\nthen you will know what it is. <\/span><\/p>\n

 It is what is called
\nAnanda in Sanskrit. And we have often said before that to know this Ananda, one
\nmust first have completely renounced all human pleasures, to begin with, for so
\nlong as a human pleasure delights you, you are not in the right state to know
\nthe Ananda. <\/span><\/p>\n

 It may come to you and
\nyou will not even be aware of it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cA spiritual Truth and Right
\nhave convicted the good and evil of this world of imperfection or of falsehood
\nand unveiled a supreme good\u2026. But behind all these and in them he has felt a
\nDivinity who is all these things, a Bringer of Light, a Guide and All-Knower, a
\nMaster of Force, a Giver of Bliss, Friend, Helper, Father, Mother, Playmate in
\nthe world-game, an absolute Master of his being, his soul\u2019s Beloved and Lover.\u201d
\n<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Can the Godhead be all these
\nthings at once for anybody? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

Yes, and many more. <\/span><\/p>\n

 This is only a very brief
\ndescription!<\/span><\/p>\n

 But here too, if one
\nwants to have this experience, one must <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n


\n\u00b9\u201cA
\nBliss has invaded him and shown that it can make suffering and sorrow
\nimpossible and turn pain itself into divine pleasure.\u201d ( Ibid., p. 120)<\/font><\/span><\/b><\/font> <\/span><\/p>\n

not seek in life and among men for these relationships, because
\nif one seeks them in the ordinary life, as ordinary relationships, one becomes
\nincapable of feeling them exactly as the Divine can give them. And usually,
\nmost people, even those who have a living soul, seek these relations with the
\nDivine only after they have had the most bitter and disappointing experiences
\nin their search for human relationships. <\/span><\/p>\n

 This makes them lose much
\ntime and wastes a lot of energy. And usually, they are already quite worn out
\nand spent when they reach the state in which they are capable of having these
\nrelations in all their splendour with the divine Presence. <\/span><\/p>\n

 That means much time lost
\nand much wastage of energy; but it would seem that very few people can go
\nstraight avoiding all these roundabout ways. Mostly, when they are told that
\nthere is a divine Joy and a divine Plenitude which far all they can imagine in
\nordinary life, they don\u2019t believe it; and to believe it they must have, as I
\nsaid, gone through a painful experience of all that is false, deceptive and
\ndisappointing in ordinary relationships. <\/span><\/p>\n

 It is said that example
\nis the best teacher, but in fact there are very few who care to follow an
\nexample especially when the examples are a little too far beyond them. They all
\nwant to have their own experience; they have the right to it, but that makes
\nthe path interminable. <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

Sweet Mother, if one needs
\nsomething, like a mother\u2019s affection or some help, how can one feel it in the
\nDivine, according to one\u2019s need? <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

What exactly do you want to say? <\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/span><\/p>\n

If, for example, one wants to
\nknow something or one needs guidance, or something else, how can one have it
\nfrom the Divine, according to one\u2019s need?<\/span><\/i><\/b> <\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

By asking the Divine for it. If you do not ask Him, how can you
\nhave it? <\/span><\/p>\n

 If you turn to the Divine
\nand have full trust and ask Him, you will get what you need not necessarily
\nwhat you imagine you need; but the true thing you need, you will get. But you
\nmust ask Him for it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 You must make the
\nexperiment sincerely; you must not endeavour to get it by all sorts of external
\nmeans and then expect the Divine to give it to you, without even having asked
\nHim. Indeed, when you want somebody to give you something, you ask him for it,
\ndon\u2019t you? And why do you expect the Divine to give it to you without your
\nhaving asked Him for it? <\/span><\/p>\n

 In the ordinary
\nconsciousness the movement is just the opposite. You assume something, saying,
\n\u201cI need this, I need this relationship, I need this affection, I need this
\nknowledge, etc. Well, the Divine ought to give it to me, otherwise He is not
\nthe Divine.\u201d That is to say, you reverse the problem completely. <\/span><\/p>\n

 First of all, you say, \u201cI
\nneed.\u201d Do you know whether you truly need it or whether it is only an
\nimpression you have or a desire or quite an ignorant movement? First point: you
\nknow nothing about it. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Second point: it is
\nprecisely your own will you want to impose upon the Divine, telling Him, \u201cI
\nneed this.\u201d And then you don\u2019t even ask Him for it: \u201cGive it to me.\u201d You say,
\n\u201cI need it. Therefore, since I need it, it must e to me, quite naturally,
\nspontaneously; it\u2019s the Divine\u2019s job to give me all that I need.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

 But if it so happens that
\ntruly you don\u2019t know what you need and it is merely an illusion and not a truth
\nand that, into the bargain, you ask it from life around you and don\u2019t turn to
\nthe Divine, don\u2019t create any relationship between yourself and Him, don\u2019t think
\nof Him or turn to Him with at least some sincerity in your attitude, then, as
\nyou ask nothing from Him, there is no reason for Him to give you anything. <\/span><\/p>\n

 But if you ask Him, as He
\nis the Divine He knows a little
\n <\/span><\/p>\n

better than you what you need; He will give you what you need.<\/span><\/p>\n

Or else, if you insist and want
\nto impose your own will, He may give you what you want in order to enlighten
\nyou and make you conscious of your mistake, that it was truly not the thing you
\nneeded. And then you begin to protest <\/span>― <\/span>I don\u2019t mean you personally, I
\nam speaking of all human beings <\/span>―<\/span> and you say, \u201cWhy has the Divine given me something which harms
\nme?\u201d<\/span>―<\/span> completely forgetting that it was you who asked for it! <\/span><\/p>\n

 In both cases you protest
\nall the same. If He gives you what you ask and then that brings you more harm
\nthan good, you protest. And again, if He doesn\u2019t give it, you also protest:
\n\u201cWhat! I told Him I needed it and He doesn\u2019t give it to me.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

 In both cases you
\nprotest, and the poor Divine is accused. <\/span><\/p>\n

 Only, if instead of all
\nthat, you simply have an aspiration within you, an urge, an intense ardent need
\nto find That, which you conceive more or less clearly to be the Truth of your
\nbeing, the Source of all things, the supreme Good, the Answer to all we desire,
\nthe Solution to all problems; if there is this intense need in you and you
\naspire to realise it, you won\u2019t any longer say to the Divine, \u201cGive me this,
\ngive me that\u201d, or, \u201cI need this, I must have that.\u201d You will tell Him, \u201cDo what
\nis necessary for me and lead me to the Truth of my being. Give me what Thou in
\nThy supreme Wisdom seest as the thing I need.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

 And then you are sure of
\nnot being mistaken, and He will not give you something which harms you. <\/span><\/p>\n

 There is a still higher step,
\nbut it\u2019s a little more difficult to begin with that. <\/span><\/p>\n

 But the first one is
\nalready a much truer approach than that of telling the Divine, \u201cI need this.
\nGive it to me.\u201d For indeed, very few people really know what they need <\/span>― <\/span>very few. And the proof of it
\nis that they are always in pursuit of the fulfilment of their desires, all
\ntheir effort is bent upon that, and each time one of their desires is
\nfulfilled, they are disappointed. And they pass on to another. <\/span><\/p>\n

 And after much seeking,
\nmaking many mistakes, suffering a <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>good deal and being very
\ndisappointed, then, sometimes, one begins to grow wise and wonders if there
\nisn\u2019t a way out of all this, that is to say, a way to come out of one\u2019s own
\nignorance. <\/span><\/p>\n

 And it is then, at that moment
\nthat one can do this (Mother opens her arms):<\/i><\/span> \u201cHere I am,
\ntake me and lead me along the true path.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Then all begins to go well. <\/span><\/p>\n
