The writings in these three sections were collected from Sri<br \/>\nAurobindo&#8217;s unrevised manuscripts. Under the title of the first article, The<br \/>\nHour of God, they were brought together in book-form in 1959. The same title<br \/>\nhas been given to this Volume No. XVII of the Centenary Edition.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'><b>IV<\/b>. Thoughts<br \/>\nand Aphorisms and Words of the Master are also from unrevised manuscripts. A<br \/>\nfew extracts culled from Sri Aurobindo&#8217;s letters and published in the Standard<br \/>\nBearer in 1922 under the title Words of the Master have also been included<br \/>\nhere. THOUGHTS AND APHORISMS first appeared in book-form in 1958.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>V<\/b>. Except for The Real Difficulty which has been taken from the Standard Bearer<br \/>\n(1920), the articles in this section too are from unrevised and incomplete<br \/>\nmanuscripts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>VI<\/b>. A Preface on National Education appeared in the Arya in 1920 in two parts.<br \/>\nA System of National Education and The National Value of Art were serialized in<br \/>\nthe Karmayogin in 1909-10. They have been in circulation in book-form since<br \/>\n1921 and 1922 respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>VII<\/b>. Premises of Astrology are unrevised and incomplete notes. They are being<br \/>\npublished here for the first time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>VIII<\/b>. These reviews of books and journals appeared in the Arya during 1914-20.<br \/>\nIn the book VIEWS AND REVIEWS which first appeared in 1941, five of these<br \/>\nreviews were reprinted, viz. Hymns to the Goddess; South Indian Bronzes; God,<br \/>\nthe Invisible King; Rupam and About Astrology.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>IX<\/b>. <span class=\"SpellE\">Dayananda<\/span>, Rishi <span class=\"SpellE\">Bankim<\/span><br \/>\nChandra, Bal <span class=\"SpellE\">Gangadhar<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">Tilak<\/span><br \/>\nand The Men That Pass appeared in book-form in 1940 under the title BANKIM-<br \/>\nTILAK-DAYANANDA. The two articles on <span class=\"SpellE\">Dayananda<\/span> were<br \/>\ncontributed to the Vedic Magazine in 1915 and 1916. Rishi <span class=\"SpellE\">Bankim<\/span><br \/>\nChandra was written for <span class=\"SpellE\">Bande<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">Mataram<\/span><br \/>\nin 1907. Bal <span class=\"SpellE\">Gangadhar<\/span> <span class=\"SpellE\">Tilak<\/span><br \/>\nappeared as Introduction to SPEECHES AND WRITINGS OF TILAK, 1918. The Men That<br \/>\nPass appeared in the Karmayogin&#8211; 1909. A Great Mind, a Great Will was a<br \/>\nmessage sent to New India on <span class=\"SpellE\">Tilak&#8217;s<\/span> passing away, at<br \/>\nthe request of <span class=\"SpellE\">Bipin<\/span> Chandra Pal. <span class=\"SpellE\">Andal<\/span><br \/>\nand <span class=\"SpellE\">Nammalwar<\/span> are from the Arya (1915). They were<br \/>\nwritten with the assistance of the Tamil poet <span class=\"SpellE\">Subramanya<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"SpellE\">Bharathi<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>X<\/b>. Historical Impressions was originally written for the Karmayogin but first<br \/>\npublished in the Standard Bearer in 1920 and included in the book MAN-SLAVE OR<br \/>\nFREE? in 1969.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\nNotes on <span class=\"SpellE\">Bergson<\/span> are from unrevised manuscripts and<br \/>\nwere first included in the 1959 edition of The Hour of God.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"justify\" style='margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%'>\n<b>XI<\/b>., These notes are from the Arya (<i>1914-20).<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" align=\"center\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0;line-height:150%\">\n<font size=\"3\">Page &#8211; 406<\/font><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BIBLIOGRAPHICAL NOTE &nbsp; I, II,III..
