Centres (chakras) of the inner being; centres of consciousness<br \/>\nwhich connect the inner being with the outer<br \/>\npersonality. These centres are supposed to be<br \/>\nattached to the spinal cord, but in fact they<br \/>\nare in the subtle body; by their opening<br \/>\nthrough yoga, the yogic or inner consciousness<br \/>\ndevelops and one escapes from the limitations<br \/>\nof the surface consciousness.<br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"justify\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>C<\/b>HIT <i>(cit).<\/i> Pure consciousness, pure awareness; the essential consciousness of the Spirit. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"justify\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">CONCENTRATION<\/font>. A gathering together of the<br \/>\nconsciousness and either centralising it at<br \/>\none point or turning it on a single object,<br \/>\nsuch as the Divine. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"justify\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>C<\/b>ONSCIOUS FORCE. The Power of the Divine<br \/>\nMother which dominates all existence and<br \/>\nbuilds the worlds; a universal Energy that is<br \/>\nthe power of the Cosmic Spirit working out<br \/>\nthe cosmic and individual truth of things. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\" align=\"justify\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">CONSCIOUSNESS<\/font>. The self-aware force of existence.<br \/>\nThe essence of consciousness is the power to<br \/>\nbe aware of itself and its objects; but it is not<br \/>\nonly power of awareness of self and things, it<br \/>\nis or has also a dynamic and creative energy. Consciousness is not synonymous<b><br \/>\n<\/b>with<b><br \/>\n<\/b>mentality, which is only a middle term; below mentality, it sinks into vital and<br \/>\nmaterial movements which are for us sub-<br \/>\nconscient; above, it rises into the Supramental<br \/>\nwhich is for us the superconscient. The devoting of all that comes<b><br \/>\n<\/b>to<b><br \/>\n<\/b>one, all one&#8217;s experience and progress towards<br \/>\nthe Divine. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">CONVERSION<\/font>. A turning of the being away from<br \/>\nlower things towards the Divine. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">COSMIC<\/font> <font size=\"2\">CONSCIOUSNESS<\/font>. The consciousness of<br \/>\nthe universe, of the cosmic spirit and cosmic<br \/>\nNature, with all the beings and forces within<br \/>\nit. In the cosmic consciousness the limits of<br \/>\nthe ego, personal mind and body disappear<br \/>\nand one becomes aware of a cosmic vastness<br \/>\nwhich is or is filled by a cosmic spirit and<br \/>\naware also of the direct play of cosmic forces. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>C<\/b>OSMIC SPIRIT. The universal aspect of the<br \/>\nDivine, the one Self inhabiting the universe<br \/>\nand containing everything in it. In and behind<br \/>\nall things and beings, the Cosmic Spirit is that<br \/>\nfrom which all is manifested in the universe. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">DESCENT<\/font>. The Supreme Being from which<br \/>\nall comes and in which all lives. In its supreme<br \/>\nTruth, the Divine is absolute and infinite<br \/>\npeace, consciousness, existence, power and<br \/>\ndelight. The Transcendent, the Cosmic<br \/>\n(Universal) and the Individual are the three<br \/>\npowers of the Divine, overarching, underlying<br \/>\nand penetrating the whole of manifestation. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>D<\/b>IVINE <b><br \/>\nC<\/b>ONSCIOUSNESS. The spiritual consciousness to which the Divine alone<br \/>\nexists, because all is the Divine. Force, Light,<br \/>\nKnowledge and Ananda together make up<br \/>\nthe higher, spiritual or Divine Consciousness. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b>D<\/b>IVINE FORCE. The emotional vital. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">EMOTIONAL CENTRE.<\/font> The heart-centre of consciousness govarning the emotional being. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">EMOTIONAL VITAL<\/font>. That part of the higher vital<br \/>\nbeing which is the seat of various feelings,<br \/>\nsuch as love, joy, sorrow, hatred, and the rest. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">EMOTIVE VITAL<\/font>. The emotional vital. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">EQUALITY<\/font>. The capacity to remain unmoved<br \/>\nwithin in all conditions; equanimity founded<br \/>\non the sense of the one Self, the one Divine<br \/>\neverywhere. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">EVOLUTION<\/font>. The progressive unfolding of Spirit<br \/>\nout of the density of material consciousness; the method by which the One Being and<br \/>\nConsciousness, involved here in Matter,<br \/>\nliberates itself from matter into life, from<b><br \/>\n<\/b>life<b><br \/>\n<\/b>into mind, from mind into the spirit. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">FAITH<\/font>. The soul&#8217;s witness to something not yet<br \/>\nmanifested, achieved or realised, but which<br \/>\nyet the Knower within us feels to be true or<br \/>\nsupremely worth following or achieving; the<br \/>\nsoul&#8217;s belief in the Divine s existence, wisdom,<br \/>\npower, love and grace. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>F<\/b>ORCE, <font size=\"2\">THE<\/font>. The Divine Force, the one Energy<br \/>\nthat alone exists and alone makes universal or<br \/>\nindividual action possible, for this Force is the Divine itself in the body of its power; in<br \/>\nthe individual it is a Force for illumination,<br \/>\ntransformation, purification, for all that has<br \/>\nto be done in the yoga.<br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>G<\/b>ITA. Short form of Bhagavad Gita, &quot;the Song<br \/>\nof the Blessed Lord&quot;, being the spiritual<br \/>\nteachings of Sri Krishna spoken to Arjuna<br \/>\non the battlefield of Kurukshetra; it occurs<br \/>\nas an episode in the Mahabharata. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>G<\/b>NOSIS. The one supreme divine Being. In<br \/>\nHis supreme status He is a transcendent<br \/>\nunthinkable too great for any manifestation; in His universal status He is the supreme<br \/>\nLord, the Master of works and universal<br \/>\nnature; in His immanent status He is the<br \/>\nliving supreme Soul in all things, the Lord<br \/>\nin the heart of all creatures. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>G<\/b>ODS, <font size=\"2\">THE<\/font>. In origin and essence the Gods are<br \/>\npermanent Emanations of the Divine put<br \/>\nforth from the Supreme by the Transcendent<br \/>\nMother; in their cosmic action they are Powers<br \/>\nand Personalities of the Divine each with his<br \/>\nindependent cosmic standing, function and<br \/>\nwork in the universe. In the Vedas the Gods<br \/>\nare also the companions and helpers of man; <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">they recognise in the soul of man their brother<br \/>\nand ally and desire to help and increase him by<br \/>\nthemselves increasing in him so as to possess<br \/>\nhis world with their light, strength and beauty. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>G<\/b>RACE, <font size=\"2\">THE<\/font> (Divine Grace). The help of a higher<br \/>\nDivine Force other than the force of Karma, which can lift the sadhak beyond<br \/>\nthe present possibilities of his nature. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\" color=\"#0000FF\">Page-358<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>G<\/b>RATITUDE. The mental vital gives<br \/>\na mental expression by thought, speech or<br \/>\notherwise to the emotions, desires, passions,<br \/>\nsensations or other movements of the vital<br \/>\nbeing; the emotive or emotional vital is the<br \/>\nseat of various feelings, such as love, joy,<br \/>\nsorrow, hatred and the rest.<br \/>\n<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">CENTRAL VITAL<\/font> (or vital proper). Dynamic,<br \/>\nsensational and passionate, it is the seat of the<br \/>\nstronger vital longings and reactions, such as<br \/>\nambition, pride, fear, love of fame, attractions<br \/>\nand repulsions, desires and passions of various kinds and the field of many vital energies.<br \/>\n<font size=\"2\">LOWER VITAL<\/font>. Made up of the smaller<br \/>\nmovements of human life desire and life-<br \/>\nreactions it is occupied with small desires and<br \/>\nfeelings, such as food desire, sexual desire,<br \/>\nsmall likings, dislikings, vanity, quarrels, love<br \/>\nof praise, anger at blame, little wishes of all<br \/>\nkinds, etc. The material vital is that part of<br \/>\nthe lower vital turned entirely upon physical<br \/>\nthings, full of desires and greeds and seekings<br \/>\nfor pleasure on the physical plane.<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: -50pt;margin-left: 50pt;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><font size=\"2\">VITAL MIND<\/font>.
