But I<br \/>\nsee not in what this instrument is worthy of the<br \/>\ngrace Thou accordest to it or how it will have the<br \/>\ncapacity to realise what Thou attendest from it. All<br \/>\nin it appears so small, weak and ordinary, so lacking in intensity and force and<br \/>\namplitude in comparison with what it should be to undertake this<br \/>\noverwhelming role. But I know that what the mind<br \/>\nthinks is of little importance. The mind itself knows<br \/>\nit and, passive, it awaits the working out of Thy<br \/>\ndecree. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">Thou biddest me strive without cease, and I could<br \/>\nwish to have the indomitable ardour that prevails<br \/>\nover every difficulty. But Thou hast put in my heart<br \/>\na peace so smiling that I fear I no longer know<br \/>\neven how to strive. Things develop in me, faculties<br \/>\nand activities, as flowers bloom, spontaneously and<br \/>\nwithout effort, in a joy to be and a joy to grow, a<br \/>\njoy to manifest Thee, whatever the mode of Thy<br \/>\nmanifestation. If struggle there is, it is so gentle and<br \/>\neasy that it can hardly be given the name. But how<br \/>\nsmall is this heart to contain so great a love! and<br \/>\nhow weak this vital and physical being to carry the<br \/>\npower to distribute it! Thus Thou hast placed me <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 66<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">on the threshold of the marvellous Way, but will<br \/>\nmy feet have the strength to advance upon it?&#8230; But<br \/>\nThou repliest to me that my movement is to soar<br \/>\nand it would be an error to wish to walk&#8230;. 0<br \/>\nLord, how infinite is Thy compassion! Once more<br \/>\nThou hast taken me in Thy omnipotent arms and<br \/>\ncradled me on Thy unfathomable heart, and Thy<br \/>\nheart said to me, &quot;Torment not thyself at all, be<br \/>\nconfident like a child: art thou not myself crystallised for my work?&quot; <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 67<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><i><a name=\"December_27,_1916\">December 27, 1916<\/a><\/i><\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">O MY beloved Lord, my heart is bowed before<br \/>\nThee, my arms are stretched towards Thee imploring<br \/>\nThee to set all this being on fire with Thy sublime<br \/>\nlove that it may radiate from there on the world.<br \/>\nMy heart is wide open in my breast; my heart is<br \/>\nopen and turned towards Thee, it is open and<br \/>\nempty that Thou mayest fill it with Thy divine Love; it is empty of all but Thee<br \/>\nand Thy presence&nbsp; fills it through and through and yet leaves it empty,<br \/>\nfor it can contain also all the infinite variety of the<br \/>\nmanifested world&#8230;. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">O Lord, my arms are outstretched in supplication<br \/>\ntowards Thee, my heart is wide open before Thee,<br \/>\nthat Thou mayest make of it a reservoir of Thy in-<br \/>\nfinite love. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">&quot;Love me in all things, everywhere and in<br \/>\nall beings&quot; was Thy reply.
