It has<br \/>\ntaken me several weeks to learn that the reason<br \/>\nfor this written meditation, its justification, lies in<br \/>\nthe very fact of addressing it daily to Thee. In this<br \/>\nway I shall put into material shape each day a little<br \/>\nof the conversation I have so often with Thee; I<br \/>\nshall make my confession to Thee as well as it may<br \/>\nbe; not because I think I can tell Thee anything\u2014<br \/>\nfor Thou art Thyself everything, but our artificial<br \/>\nand exterior way of seeing and understanding is,<br \/>\nif it may be so said, foreign to Thee, opposed to<br \/>\nThy nature. Still by turning towards Thee, by immersing myself in Thy light at the moment when I<br \/>\nconsider these things, little by little I shall see<br \/>\nthem more like what they really are,\u2014until the<br \/>\nday when, having made myself one in identity with<br \/>\nThee, I shall no more have anything to say to<br \/>\nThee, for then I shall be Thou. This is the goal<br \/>\nthat I would reach; towards this victory all my<br \/>\nefforts will tend more and more. I aspire for the<br \/>\nday when I can no longer say &quot;I&quot;, for I shall be<br \/>\n<i>Thou.<\/i> <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page -1<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">How many times a day, still, I act without my<br \/>\naction being consecrated to Thee; I at once become<br \/>\naware of it by an indefinable uneasiness which is<br \/>\ntranslated in the sensibility of my body by a pang<br \/>\nin my heart. I then make my action objective to<br \/>\nmyself and it seems to me ridiculous, childish or<br \/>\nblameworthy; I deplore it, for a moment I am sad,<br \/>\nuntil I dive into Thee and, there losing myself with<br \/>\na child&#8217;s confidence, await from Thee the inspiration and strength needed to set right the error in<br \/>\nme and around me,\u2014two things that are one; for<br \/>\nI have now a constant and precise perception ,of the<br \/>\nuniversal unity determining an absolute interdependence of all actions.<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 2<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"November_3,_1912_\"><i>November 3, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">LET Thy Light be in me like a Fire that makes<br \/>\nall alive; let Thy divine Love penetrate me. I aspire<br \/>\nwith all my being for Thy reign as sovereign and<br \/>\nmaster of my mind and heart and body; let them<br \/>\nbe Thy docile instruments and Thy faithful servitors. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 3<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"November_19,_1912_\"><i>November 19, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">I SAID yesterday to that young Englishman who<br \/>\nis seeking for Thee with so sincere a desire, that I<br \/>\nhad definitively found Thee, that the Union was<br \/>\nconstant. Such is indeed the state of which I am<br \/>\nconscious. All my thoughts go towards Thee, all<br \/>\nmy acts are consecrated to Thee; Thy Presence is<br \/>\nfor me an absolute, immutable, invariable fact,<br \/>\nand Thy Peace dwells constantly in my heart. Yet I<br \/>\nknow that this state of union is poor and precarious compared with that which it will become<br \/>\npossible for me to realise tomorrow, and I am as<br \/>\nyet far, no doubt very far, from that identification<br \/>\nin which I shall totally lose the notion of the &quot;I&quot;<b>,<br \/>\n<\/b>of that &quot;I&quot;, which I still use in order to express myself, but which is each time a constraint, like a<br \/>\nterm unfit to express the thought that is seeking for<br \/>\nexpression. It seems to me indispensable for human<br \/>\ncommunication, but all depends on what this &quot;I&quot;<br \/>\nmanifests; and how many times already, when I<br \/>\npronounce it, it is Thou who speakest in me, for I<br \/>\nhave lost the sense of separativity. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">But all this is still in embryo and will continue to<br \/>\ngrow towards perfection. What an appeasing assurance there is in this serene confidence in Thy<br \/>\nAll-Might! <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 4<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">Thou art all, everywhere, and in all, and this body<br \/>\nwhich acts is Thy own body, just as is the visible<br \/>\nuniverse in its entirety; it is Thou who breathest,<br \/>\nthinkest and lovest in this substance which, being<br \/>\nThyself, desires to be Thy willing servant. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 5<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"November_26,_1912_\"><i>November 26, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">WHAT a hymn of thanksgiving should I not be<br \/>\nraising at each moment unto Thee! Everywhere<br \/>\nand in everything around me Thou revealest Thyself and in me Thy Will and Consciousness express<br \/>\nthemselves always more and more clearly even to<br \/>\nthe point of my having almost entirely lost the<br \/>\ngross illusion of &quot;me&quot; and &quot;mine&quot;. If a few shadows, a few flaws can be seen in the great Light<br \/>\nwhich manifests Thee, how shall they bear for long<br \/>\nthe marvellous brightness of Thy resplendent Love?<br \/>\nThis morning, the consciousness that I had of the<br \/>\nway Thou art fashioning this being which was &quot;I&quot;<br \/>\ncan be roughly represented by a great diamond cut<br \/>\nwith regular geometrical facets, a diamond in its<br \/>\ncohesion, firmness, pure limpidity, transparency, but<br \/>\na brilliant and radiant flame in its intense ever-progressive life. But it was something more, something better than all that, for nearly all sensation<br \/>\ninner and outer was exceeded and that image only<br \/>\npresented itself to my mind as I returned to conscious contact with the outer world. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">It is Thou that makest the experience fertile. Thou<br \/>\nwho renderest life progressive. Thou who compellest<br \/>\nthe darkness to vanish in an instant before the<br \/>\nLight, Thou who givest to Love all its power,<\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 6 <\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">Thou who everywhere raisest up matter in this<br \/>\nardent and wonderful aspiration, in this sublime<br \/>\nthirst for Eternity. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><i>Thou<\/i> everywhere and always; nothing but <i>Thou<\/i> in<br \/>\nthe essence and in the manifestation. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">O Shadow and Illusion, dissolve! 0 Suffering, fade<br \/>\nand disappear! Lord Supreme, art Thou not there! <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 7<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"November_28,_1912_\"><i><b>November 28, 1912<\/b><\/i><b> <\/b><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">THE outer life, the activity of each day and each<br \/>\ninstant, is it not the indispensable complement of<br \/>\nour hours of meditation and contemplation? And<br \/>\nis not the proportion of time given to each<br \/>\nthe exact image of the proportion which exists<br \/>\nbetween the amount of effort to be made for<br \/>\nthe preparation and realisation? For meditation,<br \/>\ncontemplation, Union is the result obtained \u2014 the<br \/>\nflower that blooms; the daily activity is the anvil<br \/>\non which all the elements must pass and repass in<br \/>\norder to be purified, refined, made supple and ripe<br \/>\nfor the illumination which contemplation gives to<br \/>\nthem. All these elements must be thus passed one&#8217;<br \/>\nafter the other through the crucible before outer<br \/>\nactivity becomes needless for the integral development. Then is this activity<br \/>\nturned into the means to manifest Thee so as to awaken the other centres<br \/>\nof consciousness to the same dual work of the<br \/>\nforge and the illumination. Therefore are pride and<br \/>\nsatisfaction with oneself the worst of all obstacles.<br \/>\nVery modestly we must take advantage of all the<br \/>\nminute opportunities offered to knead and purify<br \/>\nsome of the innumerable elements, to make them<br \/>\nsupple, to make them impersonal, to teach them<br \/>\nforgetfulness of self and abnegation and devotion<br \/>\nand kindness and gentleness; and when all these <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 8<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">modes of being have become habitual to them,<br \/>\nthen are they ready to participate in the Contemplation, and to identify themselves with Thee in the<br \/>\nsupreme Concentration. That is why it seems<br \/>\nto me that the work must be long and slow<br \/>\neven for the best and that striking conversions cannot be integral. They change the orientation of the<br \/>\nbeing, they put it definitively on the straight path; <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">but truly to attain the goal none can escape the<br \/>\nneed of innumerable experiences of every kind and<br \/>\nevery instant. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">O Supreme Master who shinest in my being and<br \/>\neach thing, let Thy Light be manifest and the reign<br \/>\nof Thy Peace come for all. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page -9<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"December_2,_1912_\"><i>December 2, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">So long as one element of the being, one movement<br \/>\nof the thought is still subjected to outside influences, not solely under Thine, it cannot be said<br \/>\nthat the true Union is realised; there is still the<br \/>\nhorrible mixture without order and light, \u2014 for that<br \/>\nelement, that movement is a world, a world of disorder and darkness, as is the entire earth in the<br \/>\nmaterial world, as is the material world in the entire universe. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 10<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"December_3,_1912_\"><b><i>December 3, 1912<\/i><\/b><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">LAST night I had the experience of the effectivity<br \/>\nof confident surrender to Thy guidance; when it is<br \/>\nneedful that something should be known, one<br \/>\nknows it, and the more passive the mind to Thy<br \/>\nillumination, the clearer and the more adequate is<br \/>\nits expression. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">I listened to Thee as Thou spokest in me, and I<br \/>\nwould have liked to write down what Thou saidst so that the formula in all its<br \/>\nprecision might not be lost\u2014for now I should not be able to repeat what was<br \/>\nsaid. Then I thought that this care for conservation was again an insulting lack<br \/>\nof confidence towards Thee, for Thou canst make of me all that I need to be, and<br \/>\nin the measure in which my attitude allows Thee to act on me and in me. Thy<br \/>\nomnipotence has no limits. To know that at each instant what must be surely is,<br \/>\nas perfectly as is possible, for all those who know how<br \/>\nto see Thee in everything and everywhere! No<br \/>\nmore fear, no more uneasiness, no more anguish; nothing but a perfect Serenity, an absolute Confidence, a supreme unwavering Peace. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 11<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"December_5,_1912_\"><i>December 5, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">IN Peace and Silence the Eternal manifests; allow<br \/>\nnothing to disturb you and the Eternal will manifest; have perfect equality in<br \/>\nface of all and the Eternal will be there&#8230;. Yes, we should not put too much<br \/>\nintensity, too much effort into our seeking for Thee; the effort and intensity<br \/>\nbecome a veil in front of Thee; we must not desire to see Thee, for that is<br \/>\nstill a mental agitation which obscures Thy Eternal Presence; it is in the most<br \/>\ncomplete Peace, Serenity and Equality that all is Thou even as Thou art all, and<br \/>\nthe least vibration in this perfectly pure and calm atmosphere is an obstacle to<br \/>\nThy manifestation. No haste, no inquietude, no tension, Thou, nothing but Thou, without any analysis<br \/>\nor any objectivising, and Thou art then&nbsp; without a<br \/>\npossible doubt, for all becomes a Holy Peace and<br \/>\na Sacred Silence. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">And that is better than all the meditations in the<br \/>\nworld. <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"2\">Page &#8211; 12<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><a name=\"December_7,_1912_\"><i>December 7, 1912<\/i><br \/>\n<\/a> <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0\">\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height: 150%;margin-top: 0;margin-bottom: 0;text-indent:25px\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">LIKE a flame that burns in silence, like a perfume<br \/>\nthat rises straight upward without wavering, my<br \/>\nlove goes to Thee; and like the child who does not<br \/>\nreason and has no care, I trust myself to Thee that<br \/>\nThy Will may be done, that Thy Light may manifest, Thy Peace radiate. Thy Love<br \/>\ncover the world.
