but he from them <span class=\"SpellE\">reft<\/span><br \/>\ntheir return and the daylight. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Sing to us also of these things, goddess, daughter of heaven.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Now all the rest who had fled from death<br \/>\nand sudden destruction <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Safe dwell at home, from the war escaped and the swallowing ocean:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">He alone far was kept from his fatherland, far from his consort, <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Long by the nymph divine, the sea-born goddess Calypso, <u><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Stayed in her hollow caves, for she yearned to keep him her husband.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Yet when the year came at last in the rolling gyre of the seasons <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">When in the web of their wills the gods spun out his returning <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Homeward to Ithaca, \u2014 there too he found not release from his <span class=\"SpellE\">labour<\/span>, <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">In his own land with his loved ones \u2014 all the immortals had pity<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Save Poseidon alone; but he with implacable anger<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Moved against godlike Odysseus before his return to his country. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Now was he gone to the land of the <span class=\"SpellE\">Aethiopes<\/span>,<br \/>\nnations far-distant, \u2014 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">They who to either hand divided, remotest of mortals, <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">Dwell where the high-climbing Helios sets and where he arises;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">There of bulls and of rams the slaughtered hecatomb tasting <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style='margin:0;line-height:150%'><span lang=\"EN-US\">He by the banquet seated rejoiced;
