I don&#8217;t know what he told me. But I VERY STRONGLY had &#8211; very strongly, and it lasted a long time &#8211; the sense of the beginning, the commencement &#8230; the start of something like an action or a series of events that would have great importance for the development of the earth.[[This would seem to be the continuation or concretization of the movement begun in 1967 with Mother&#8217;s note, &#8220;Christianity deifies suffering to make it the instrument of the earth&#8217;s salvation&#8221; (July 29, 1967), then the visits of Mrs. Z, who claimed to want to bring about a rapprochement between the Church and the Ashram, and again of the monk who wanted to broaden his Christianity with the new Truth (see <i>Agenda 8).<\/i> ]] Very strong: it lasted for hours, that impression. And for me it&#8217;s quite unaccustomed, because generally, outward things &#8230; <i>(Mother shakes her head) <\/i>it&#8217;s all so relative, all events are so relative that they don&#8217;t leave any impression.<br \/>\n<P>Quite unusual. And unexpected.<br \/>\n<P>It&#8217;s like a door opening onto something that will have a rather considerable importance in the development of the earth.<br \/>\n<P>I didn&#8217;t feel he himself was conscious&#8230;. It somewhat exceeded human consciousnesses. But I clearly saw, very clearly saw the Pope.<br \/>\n<P>Has he decided to go to Rome?<\/p>\n<p><i>Yes, and as soon as he gets there, hell ask for an audience.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>It&#8217;s quite (it remained for hours), quite unaccustomed: something far exceeding human individualities, and it was the beginning of something very important in the history of the earth&#8217;s evolution.<\/p>\n<p><i>The last time I saw him, he asked me how he should get<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&nbsp;himself received by the Pope. I said to him, &#8220;It&#8217;s very simple,<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><font size=\"2\">Page 95<\/font><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><i>&nbsp;it&#8217;s Sri Aurobindo&#8217;s name that will open the door for you; just write the Pope, &#8216;I come from Sri Aurobindo&#8217;s Ashram and I would like to see you.'&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P align=\"right\"><i>(Mother goes into<\/i><P align=\"right\"><i>&nbsp;a long<br \/>\nconcentration)<\/i><br \/>\n<P>It&#8217;s strange, a strange sensation&#8230;. You know, like turning a page. Yesterday and right up to now, it&#8217;s been so strong: the sense of something going like this <i>(gesture of turning a page), <\/i>and that was the beginning. And you know, nothing in the head, not a thought or anything: only a sort of perception of something going like this <i>(same gesture) <\/i>and &#8230;<br \/>\n<P>We should note the date &#8211; maybe in ten or twenty years we&#8217;ll understand!<br \/>\n<P>Yesterday was April 2, yes, the 2nd. It was a curious date: 2-4-6-8 [April 2, 1968]. Two, four, six, eight. And the impression was of something going like this, like a page that&#8217;s been turned, and then &#8230; the beginning. Or if you like (it&#8217;s not a geometrical sensation, but &#8230;), the sense of a curve that has come to its end, and another one starting. But that&#8217;s not as good as the image of an immense page falling back, and something beginning. It&#8217;s blank, it&#8217;s &#8230; just the beginning.<br \/>\n<P>And no perception of a personal thing: individualities [e.g., P.L.] are just like pawns that have been used for starting, that&#8217;s all. The movement, the origin of the movement is infinitely higher and vaster than any physical personality.<br \/>\n<P>Truly the perception that everyone and everything are nothing but pawns, like that <i>(gesture as on a chessboard), <\/i>which are set in motion, but &#8230;<br \/>\n<P>We&#8217;ll see.<br \/>\n<P>We should note that.<\/p>\n<p><i>Still, does it have something to do with the Pope?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>Yes. With Christendom.<br \/>\n<P align=\"right\"><i>(Mother again goes into<\/i><P align=\"right\"><i>&nbsp;a long<br \/>\ncontemplation)<\/i><br \/>\n<P>Since yesterday (it didn&#8217;t seem related to the first experience), but the<br \/>\nwhole day, my way of reacting (inwardly, not outwardly), my way of reacting to<br \/>\nthings, my way of MATERIALLY looking at all things &#8211; it was completely changed.<br \/>\nThere was, as it were, a new<P align=\"center\"><font size=\"2\">Page 96<\/font><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><P>&nbsp;person &#8230; even expressing surprise at the old reactions, wondering,<br \/>\n&quot;What! Did I use to react like that?&quot; (&quot;I,&quot; meaning the body, of course.) &quot;Now<br \/>\nit&#8217;s not that any longer.&quot;<br \/>\n<P>And it&#8217;s still very strong now, as though &#8230; not a new personality, but a new way of being, were there.
