Have you seen any changes? <\/i><\/p>\n<p><P align=\"right\"><i>(Mother shakes her head negatively)<\/i><br \/>\n<P align=\"center\"><i>(Long meditation, <br \/>Mother pants for breath)<\/i><br \/>\n<P>Do you have any questions?<br \/>\n<P align=\"right\"><i>(Mother shakes her head) <\/i><br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>But it&#8217;s over now, isn&#8217;t it?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>Oh yes, completely over.<br \/>\n<P align=\"right\"><i>(meditation again with labored breathing)<\/i><br \/>\n<P>Do you have anything to ask?<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>I saw a text by Sri Aurobindo that I found interesting&#8230;.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>Oh!<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>Theresa question in fact. &#8230;It&#8217;s a letter [[In fact a conversation: see Talks with Sri Aurobindo by Nirodbaran,<br \/>\n  part I, p 179-180. ]] in which he refers to the <\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>first period in the Ashram, when everyone was having &quot;great<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&nbsp;experiences&quot;; afterwards, there was a descent to the physical<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>&nbsp;level. So he says:<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P><\/p>\n<p>&quot;Working on the physical is like digging the ground; the <\/p>\n<p>physical is absolutely inert, dead like stone. When the work<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;began there, all former energies disappeared, experiences<\/p>\n<p>stopped; if they came they didn&#8217;t last. The progress is<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;exceedingly slow. One rises, falls; rises again and falls again,<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><font size=\"2\">Page 326<\/font><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>&nbsp;constantly meeting with the suggestions of the Vedic Asuras, &#8216;You can&#8217;t do anything, you are bound to fail.&#8217;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P><\/p>\n<p>&quot;You have to go on working and working year after year, point after point, till you come to a central point in the subconscient which has to be conquered and it is the crux of the whole problem, hence exceedingly difficult&#8230;. No experiences, nothing. What time is it?<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>Eleven, Mother.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>Is there no work?&#8230; Working avoids concentrating. You see, it gives me a discomfort all over like this <i>(gesture at the top of the chest).<\/i><br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>But what gives you this?<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><font size=\"2\">Page 327<\/font><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><P>I don&#8217;t know, I have it now.<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><i>Does it come from me?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><P>No! No &#8230; I live in a &#8230; <i>(Mother shakes her head).<\/i><br \/>\n<P align=\"right\"><i>(long silence) <\/i><br \/>\n<P>It&#8217;s better to read me something.<br \/>\n<P align=\"center\"><i>(Satprem reads a few Aphorisms of Sri Aurobindo <\/i><br \/>\n<P align=\"center\"><i>for the next issue of the Bulletin)<\/i><br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p>159 &#8211; He who recognizes no Krishna, the God in man,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;knows<br \/>\n  not God entirely; he who knows Krishna only,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;knows not even Krishna&#8230;.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P>That&#8217;s good, it&#8217;s very GOOD.<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p>Yet is the opposite truth also wholly true that if thou <\/p>\n<p>canst see all God in a little pale unsightly and scentless <\/p>\n<p>flower, then hast thou hold of His supreme reality.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P>Then I have hold of my supreme reality, but&#8230;! <i>(Mother laughs) <\/i>All right, it&#8217;s good, it&#8217;s some consolation! <i>(laughter)<\/i><br \/>\n<P align=\"right\"><\/p>\n<p><p align=\"right\"><i>(Satprem goes on reading,<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\"><i>&nbsp;then asks) Does it tire you?<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P>Tire? Oh, no&#8230;. It comforts me a little! It doesn&#8217;t tire me at all.<br \/>\n<P><\/p>\n<p><p align=\"right\"><i>(silence<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\"><i>&nbsp;Satprem lays his forehead<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"right\"><i>&nbsp;on Mother&#8217;s knees)<\/i><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><P>The next time, you&#8217;ll read to me.
