Some of<br \/>\nthese were revised, a few more than once, and were published as stated below.<br \/>\nFor the purposes of the Centenary Edition the last revised version is included<br \/>\nwherever it is available. In other cases the edition follows the available<br \/>\nmanuscripts.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">The series of six articles, comprising <i><br \/>\nPhilosophy of the Upanishads<\/i> and one <i>On Translating the Upanishads,<\/i><br \/>\nare early writings and belong to the Baroda period. The first six articles<br \/>\nappeared in the <i>Advent<\/i> in 1953. <i>On Translating the Upanishads<\/i> was<br \/>\nused as Introduction to EIGHT<br \/>\nUPANISHADS<br \/>\npublished in the same year.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>ISHA:<\/b><br \/>\nThe translation was first published in the <i>Karmayogin<\/i> in 1909. It was<br \/>\nrevised and published again in 1914-15 in the <i>Arya<\/i> with annotations and<br \/>\ncommentary. It was issued in 1921 in book-form after minor revisions. Since then<br \/>\nit has run into several editions.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>KENA:<\/b><br \/>\nThe translation first appeared in the <i>Karmayogin<\/i> in 1909. A revised<br \/>\nversion with commentary came out in the <i>Arya<\/i> in 1915-16. It was issued in<br \/>\nbook-form in 1952. The 1970 edition contained a further revised version.<\/font>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>KATHA:<\/b><br \/>\nThe translation first appeared in the <i>Karmayogin<\/i> in 1909-10. It came out<br \/>\nin book-form in 1919, and in its revised version in 1952.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>MUNDAKA:<br \/>\n<\/b>The translation first appeared in the <i>Karmayogin<\/i> in 1909. A revised<br \/>\nversion appeared in the <i>Arya<\/i> in 1920. The translation included here is a<br \/>\nfurther revised version.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>MANDUKYA<br \/>\nand PRASHNA:<\/b><br \/>\nThese are printed in their available forms.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\"><b>TAITTIRIYA,<br \/>\nAITEREYA,<br \/>\nSHWETASHWATARA,<br \/>\nCHHANDOGYA,<br \/>\nKAIVALYA<br \/>\nand NILARUDRA <\/b>were translated in Baroda; of these <b>TAITTIRIYA<br \/>\nand AITEREYA<\/b><br \/>\nare complete. Of <b>SHWETASHWATARA,<\/b><br \/>\nonly chapters IV, V and VI are found. The rest are only in fragments. It has<br \/>\nbeen revised but no final version is clearly indicated. Readings in <b>TAITTIRIYA<br \/>\n<\/b>appeared in the <i>Arya <\/i>in 1918.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">THE<br \/>\nGREAT<br \/>\n<b>ARANYAKA<\/b>,<br \/>\na commentary on the first chapter, first Brahmana of BRIHADARANYAKA<br \/>\nUPANISHAD,<br \/>\nappeared in <i>Sri Aurobindo Mandir Annual,<\/i> 1953.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<b><br \/>\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">THE<br \/>\nKARIKAS<br \/>\nOF GAUDAPADA<br \/>\nand VEDANTASARA<br \/>\nOF SADANANDA:<\/font> <\/b>\n<\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">These are incomplete unrevised<br \/>\ntranslations of some Vedantic texts, and are printed here as available in the<br \/>\nmanuscript.<\/font> <\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"text-indent: 24pt;line-height: 150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\">Sri Aurobindo wrote a number of<br \/>\ncommentaries on ISHA<br \/>\nfrom different viewpoints at different periods. Here in the <i>Supplement<\/i><br \/>\nsome of them are published for the first time in the form in which they are<br \/>\nfound in the manuscripts.
