Recently since the young Vuthsa has been<br \/>\ninvested with the regal power and appeared at Cowsambie,<br \/>\nChunda Mahasegn, till then invincible, has suffered rude but<br \/>\nnot decisive reverses. For the moment there is an armed peace<br \/>\nbetween the two empires.<\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\"> <\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"justify\" style=\"line-height:150%;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<font face=\"Times New Roman\" size=\"3\">The fable is taken from Somadeva&#8217;s Kathasaritsagara (the<br \/>\nOcean of the Rivers of Many Tales) and was always a favourite<br \/>\nsubject of Indian romance and drama, but some of the circumstances, a great many of the incidents and a few of the names have<br \/>\nbeen altered or omitted and others introduced in their place.<br \/>\nVuthsa, the name of the nation in the tale, is in the play used as<br \/>\na personal name of the King Udayan.<\/font><font face=\"Times New Roman\">
