The following two versions of<br \/>\nHymns to Agni- Mandala I Sukta 74 &#8211; were found in Sri Aurobindo&#8217;s manuscripts,<br \/>\none a translation and the other an inter- pretative paraphrase.<br \/>\n2. Agni, the<br \/>\nDivine Will-Force or Power of Consciousness, is the deity.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n<\/span><span><br \/>\n1.<\/span><span>The Gotamas, illumined minds,<br \/>\nare to proceed to the path of the sacrifice; let them then give voice to the<br \/>\nthought in them which is to be the governing word of their progress for the<br \/>\nDivine Will-Force to use; that Force hears the word and responds whether as the<br \/>\ndeity realised within or as the deity of the universe seated in the highest and<br \/>\nmost distant worlds.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n2.<\/span><span>The Divine Will-Force is the<br \/>\nfirst and supreme among divine powers; it protects our movement in the sacrifice<br \/>\nfrom plane to plane and all the planes of our being on which the Work proceeds<br \/>\ncome together in a conscious harmony and stream forth their reaction in response<br \/>\nto our giving.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n3.Let this Divine Force manifest itself so that all shall say, &quot;It is born<br \/>\nand comes on high, slaying all the hostile powers that obstruct our progress and<br \/>\nwinning wealth on new wealth for the soul in battle after battle.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n4.<\/span><span>These results are attained,<br \/>\nbecause the Divine Will-Force becomes a compelling envoy who carries our<br \/>\nofferings in their journey to the goal which is our home and the home of the<br \/>\ngods, the divine plane of the Truth, thus it makes the sacrifice of the path<br \/>\neffective; the worlds meet together and drop their riches under the compulsion<br \/>\nof the all-creative, all-manifesting Truth of Surya Savitri.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n5.The man then becomes perfect in his sacrifice; the offering is effective, the<br \/>\ngodheads are completely manifested, the base of sacrifice in the soul includes<br \/>\nall the various planes of our being. The Divine Force, the Angiras, the<br \/>\npuissance of Seer Will and the Son of Strength overpowering the Panis and<br \/>\nVritras, effects this completeness.<\/span><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\"><font size=\"2\">Page-191<\/font><\/p>\n<hr align=\"justify\">\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span>6.He is<br \/>\nthe envoy and effects the great commerce between earth and heaven, bringing the<br \/>\ngods down, from the higher planes so that they may be manifested in man in the<br \/>\nterrestrial, and taking our offerings, the fruits of our terrestrial life<br \/>\nupwards to be divinised, transformed into the divine essence, eaten, in the<br \/>\nVedic image, by the gods. That transformation is effected in the perfect bliss<br \/>\nof the Divine Will- <\/span><span>Force.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n<\/span>7-8.This great going and coming is effected in a silent spiritual<br \/>\nrapidity; there is no rumour or clamour at all of the trampling hooves of the<br \/>\nVital Forces in their swiftness; but the chariot of the movement gallops<br \/>\nswiftly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\" align=\"justify\"><span><br \/>\n9.Finally, the Divine Will-Force lodges in all our being for the benefit of the<br \/>\nsoul itself and of the gods who work in him, a complete and utter heroic energy,<br \/>\nvast with the <\/span>vastness of the Truth and luminous with its light.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\" style=\"margin: 0;line-height:150%\"><font size=\"2\">Page-192<\/font><\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SUPPLEMENT TO VOLUME &nbsp; 11 HYMNS TO THE MYSTIC FIRE &nbsp; 1.
