\nBIBLIOGRAPHICAL NOTE <\/font><\/p>\n

<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\n\tSri Aurobindo’s various writings on the Veda and his translations of
\nsome of the hymns, originally published in the Arya<\/i> between August
\n1914 and 1920, were brought together and published in book-form in 1956
\nunder the general title ON THE <\/span>VEDA<\/span>. They were reissued in 1964. The
\ntitle of the volume, however, has now been changed to the more significant, THE
\n\t<\/span>S<\/font>ECRET OF THE
\n\t<\/font><\/span>VEDA<\/span>.
\n\t<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tFor the purposes of the Centenary Edition the same arrangement
\nas in ON THE <\/span>VEDA
\n\t<\/span>has been maintained except for the following additions and alterations in Part III and Part IV.
\n\t<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tIn Part III a number of translations of Hymns to Indra, found in his
\nmanuscripts and later published in The Advent,<\/i> an Ashram journal, have
\nbeen included. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tThree Hymns to the Fire have been shifted from
\n\tPart IV to Volume 11, HYMNS TO THE
\n\t<\/span>MYSTIC <\/span>FIRE<\/span>.
\n\t<\/font><\/p>\n

\n\tA letter addressed to The Hindu<\/i> of Madras and published in its issue
\nof August 27, 1914, in answer to a criticism of his interpretation of the
\nVeda, is also appended here. <\/font><\/p>\n

\n\t"The Origins of Aryan Speech", mentioned by Sri Aurobindo on
