\nTHE SECOND HYMN TO AGNI <\/font>
\n<\/b> <\/p>\n

\nA HYMN OF THE LIBERATION OF THE DIVINE FORCE <\/font><\/p>\n

<\/b><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n[Nature in her ordinary limited and material workings holds
\nthe Divine Force concealed in her secret or subconscient being;<\/font>
\n<\/font>only when consciousness enlarges itself towards the One and
\nInfinite, is it manifested, born for the conscient Mind. The
\nclarities of the higher illumination cannot be kept so long as
\nthere is not this Strength to guard them, for hostile powers
\nsnatch them away and conceal them again in their secret
\ncavern. Divine Will manifested in man, itself liberated, liberates him from the cords which bind him as a victim in the world-
\nsacrifice; we attain to it by the teaching of Indra, the divine Mind,
\nand it protects the uninterrupted play of the Light and destroys
\nthe powers of falsehood whose limitations cannot hem in its
\ngrowth and its out-flaming; it brings the divine waters from the
\nluminous Heaven, the divine wealth liberated from the attacks of
\nthe Enemy, and gives the final peace and perfection.]<\/font>
\n<\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\tThe young Mother<\/font>\u00b9<\/font> bears the Boy pressed down in her secret
    \nbeing and gives him not to the Father; but his force is not
    \ndiminished, the peoples behold him established in front<\/font>\u00b2<\/font> in
    \nthe upward working of things.<\/font> <\/font><\/li>\n

  2. \n

    \n\tWho is this Boy, 0 young Mother, whom thou bearest in
    \nthyself when thou art compressed into form, but thy vastness
    \ngives him birth? For many seasons the Child grew in the
    \nwomb; I saw him born when the Mother brought him forth.<\/font>
    \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

  3. \n

    \n\tI saw far off in the field of being one tusked with golden
    \nlight and pure bright of hue who was shaping the weapons
    \nof his war. I give to him the immortality in me in all my<\/font>
    \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n\u00b9The Mother and Father are always either Nature and the Soul or the material being
    \n<\/b>and the pure mental being. <\/font><\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\u00b2<\/font>As the Purohita who leads and conducts the work of the sacrifice. <\/font><\/p>\n

    \nseparate parts\u00b9 and what shall they do to me who have not
    \nthe Word\u00b2 and the God-Mind is not in them?<\/font>
    \n<\/font><\/p>\n

    1. \n

      \n\tI saw in the field as though a happy herd that ranged continuously in many forms of luminous beauty. None could
      \nseize on them, for he was born; even they that were old
      \namong them, grow young once more.<\/font> <\/font>\n\t<\/li>\n

    2. \n

      \n\tWho were they that divorced my strength from the herds of
      \nLight ? Against them there was no protector nor any worker
      \nin this war. Let those that took them from me, release them
      \nto me again; for he with his conscious perceptions comes
      \ndriving to us our lost herds of the radiance.<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

    3. \n

      \n\tThe king of those who dwell in creatures, he in whom all
      \ncreatures dwell, is hidden within mortals by hostile powers;<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font>let the soul-thoughts of the Eater of things release him, let
      \nthe confiners be themselves confined.<\/font> <\/font>\n\t<\/li>\n

    4. \n

      \n\tShunahshepa too, head of delight, was
      \n\tbound to the thousandfold post of the sacrifice; him thou didst release, \u2014
      \nyea, he accomplished perfection by his works; so do thou
      \ntake thy seat here in us, O conscious seeing Flame, O Priest
      \nof our sacrifice, and loose from us the cords of our bondage.<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

    5. \n

      \n\tMayst thou not grow wroth and depart from me! He who
      \nguards the law of action of the godheads, told me of thee;<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font>Indra knew and sought after and saw thee, and taught by
      \nhim his knowledge, O Flame, I came to thee.<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

    6. \n

      \n\tThis Flame of Will shines out with the vast light of Truth
      \nand makes all things manifest by the greatness of him. He overpowers the
      \n\tformations of knowledge\u00b3 that are undivine<\/font>
      \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n\u00b9<\/font>Soma, the wine of immortality, is given to the gods in three parts, on three levels of our
      \nbeing, the mind, life and body. <\/font><\/p>\n

      \n\u00b2<\/font>The expressive Word which manifests that which is hidden, brings out into expression
      \nthat which is unexpressed. <\/font><\/p>\n

      \n\u00b3<\/font>Maya. There are two kinds of Maya, the divine and undivine, the formations of the
      \ntruth and the formations of the falsehood. <\/font><\/p>\n

      \nand of an evil movement; he sharpens his horns to gore the
      \nRakshasa.<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

      1. \n

        \n\tMay the voices of the Flame in our heavens be sharp-weaponed to slay the Rakshasa! In his ecstasy his angry
        \nlustres break all that opposes his advance; the energies un-
        \ndivine that obstruct us from every side cannot pen him in.<\/font>
        \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

      2. \n

        \n\tO thou who art born in many forms, I illumined in mind,
        \naccomplished in understanding, perfect in works, have
        \nfashioned for thee this song of thy affirming to be as if thy
        \nchariot. If thou, O Strength, take an answering delight in it,
        \nby this we may conquer the waters that carry the light of the
        \nluminous heaven<\/font>\u00b9<\/font>.<\/font>
        \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n

      3. \n

        \n\tThe strong-necked<\/font>\u00b2<\/font>Bull increases in us and drives to us the
        \ntreasure of knowledge<\/font>\u00b3<\/font> that was withheld by our enemy;<\/font>
        \n\t<\/font>nor is there any to destroy it. For so have the Powers Immortal spoken to the Strength that he work out peace for the
        \nman who enlarges the seat of sacrifice, that he work out
        \npeace for the man who carries in his hand the oblation.<\/font>
        \n\t<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

         <\/p>\n

        \n\u00b9<\/font>Swar, the divine mind pure to the luminous Truth. <\/font><\/p>\n

        \n\u00b2<\/font>Or, "many-necked". <\/font><\/p>\n

        \n\u00b3<\/font>The wealth of the luminous herds. <\/font><\/p>\n
