\nTHE SIXTH HYMN TO AGNI <\/font>
\n<\/b> <\/p>\n

\nTHE GALLOPING FLAME-POWERS OF THE JOURNEY <\/font><\/b><\/p>\n

\n <\/p>\n

\n[The flames of Agni the divine Will, home and meeting-
\nplace of all our increasing and advancing life-powers, are
\nimaged as galloping on our human journey to the supreme good.
\nDivine Will creates in us the divine strength of impulsion, an
\nillumined and undecaying force and flame described as the steed
\nof the plenitude, which brings us that good and carries us to that
\ngoal. His flames are coursers on the path who increase by the
\nsacrifice; they hasten uninterruptedly, and race always more
\nswiftly; they bring in the penned-up illuminations of the hidden
\nknowledge. Their entire force and rapidity are accorded when the
\ndivine Strength is filled and satisfied with the sacrificial offerings.]<\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\tOn Strength I meditate who is the dweller in substance and
    \nto him as their home go our fostering herds, to him as their
    \nhome our swift war-steeds,\u00b9 to him as their home our powers
    \nof the plenitude. Bring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.\u00b2<\/font><\/li>\n

  2. \n

    \n\tHe is that Strength who is the dweller in substance; him I express in whom come together\u00b3 our fostering herds, in whom
    \nmeet our swiftly galloping war-steeds, in whom our luminous seers that come to perfect birth in us.
    \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

  3. \n

    \n\tWill, the universal toiler, gives to the creature his steed of
    \nthe plenitude. Will gives that which comes into entire being
    \nin us for the felicity and, satisfied, it journeys to the desirable
    \ngood.<\/font> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n\u00b9<\/font>The Horse is the symbol of Force in the Veda, especially of vital force. It is variously
    \nthe arvat<\/i> or war-steed in the battle and the vājin,<\/i> the steed of the journey which brings us in
    \nthe plenty of our spiritual wealth.<\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\u00b2<\/font>The power that enables us to make the journey through the night of our being to the
    \ndivine Light. .<\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\u00b3<\/font>All our growing powers of force and knowledge move towards the manifestation of
    \nthe divine Knowledge-Force and in it combine and are harmonised.<\/font><\/p>\n

    \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font><\/p>\n

      \n\tThat fire of thee we kindle O  God,
      \n\tO  Flame, luminous, unaging, when that more effective force of thy labour blazes
      \nin our heavens.
      \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

    2. \n

      \n\tWill, master of the pure-bright flame, thine is the offering
      \ncast by the illumining word; bearer of the oblation, to thee
      \nit is cast, O  master of the creature, achiever of works, perfect
      \nin delight.
      \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

    3. \n

      \n\tThose are thy flames that in these thy other flames nourish
      \nand advance every desirable good; they, they race! they,
      \nthey run! they drive on in their impulsions without a break.
      \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

    4. \n

      \n\tThose are thy fiery rays, O  Will, steeds of the plenitude, and
      \nthey increase into the largeness and with tramplings of their
      \nhooves they bring in the pens of the luminous kine.<\/font>\u00b9<\/font>
      \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

    5. \n

      \n\tBring, O  Will, to those who affirm thee new strengths of
      \nimpulsion that find aright their dwelling-place ;<\/font>\u00b2<\/font> may we be
      \nthey who because they have thee for their messenger, sing
      \nthe hymn of illumination in home and home.
      \nBring to those who affirm thee thy force of the impulsion.<\/font> <\/li>\n

    6. \n

      \n\tBoth\u00b3 ladles of the running richness thou approachest to
      \nthy mouth, O  perfect in delight; mayst thou in our speakings
      \nutterly fill thyself, O  master of shining strength.<\/font> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n\u00b9<\/font>The illuminations of the divine Truth penned up in the cavern of the subconscient by
      \nthe lords of sense-action.<\/font><\/p>\n

      \n\u00b2<\/font>That is, they take us to our home in the world of Truth, the superconscient plane, own
      \nhome of Agni, in which all these impulsions advancing find their rest and dwelling-place.
      \nIt is reached by an ascent from plane to plane opened in succession by the power of the divine
      \nillumining Word.<\/font><\/p>\n

      \n\u00b3<\/font>Perhaps, the divine and the human delight.<\/font><\/p>\n

        \n\tSo by our words and our sacrifices they without any break
        \ndrive and control the Strength. May he establish in us an
        \nutter energy\u00b9 and that swift galloping force.\u00b2

        \n\u00b9<\/font>The hero-power of the battling soul.<\/font><\/p>\n

        \n\u00b2<\/font>Asu-asvyam,<\/i> the swift Horse-Power, with a play on the two words giving it the sense of
