\n[Hymn of Brihaduktha Vamadevya to Indra, Master of
\nMental Force, when he exceeded Mind and entered Mahas, yet
\nmaintained the lower firmaments, \u2014 realising his unity with Sah
\nthe supreme Purusha.]<\/font><\/p>\n

    \n\tWhen thou hadst given wholly the fullness of the ideal to
    \nthy fame, O Maghavan of the fullness, when both the firmaments cried to thee in their terror, thou didst protect the
    \ngods, thou didst transfix the Enemy, by teaching the strength
    \nof the Spirit, O Indra, even for this creation.<\/font> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      \n\tWhen thou didst range abroad increasing in thy force of
      \nsubstance and progressing strength to the people, that force
      \nwas sufficient for thy battles of which they tell, but for thee,
      \nthou knowest today no enemy nor before thou knewest.<\/font> <\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \n\tWho were the sages before us that came to the end of thy
        \ngreatness equal-souled ? Didst thou not give being to thy

          \n\tFour, verily, are thy untameable mightinesses when thou<\/font>\n\t<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            \nmakest known the objects that are hidden in the Secret
            \nPlaces of Being; smite not asunder my desire, O Maghavan,

              \n\tHe who placed light in the heart of other light and joined
              \nsweetnesses to sweetness, to-that Indra this love, this force,
              \nthis thought was spoken from Brihaduktha when he fulfilled
