\nBIBLIOGRAPHICAL NOTE<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

                T<\/font>HE FOUNDATIONS OF INDIAN CULTURE<\/font> comprises under a single
\nconnecting title the series of articles that appeared in the Arya <\/i>from
\nDecember 1918 to January 1921 in the following sequence: "Is India Civilised?",
\n"A Rationalistic Critic on Indian Culture" and "A Defence of Indian Culture".
\nThese articles were later revised by the author.<\/p>\n

        The essay "Indian
\nCulture and External Influence" which appeared in the Arya<\/i> of March 1919
\nwas also included in the first edition as it bears on the same subject.<\/p>\n

        THE FOUNDATIONS OF
\nINDIAN CULTURE<\/font> was first published in book-form in 1953 by the Sri Aurobindo
\nLibrary, New York. The First Indian edition appeared in 1959 and the second in
\n1968.<\/p>\n

        For the purposes
\nof the Centenary Edition THE RENAISSANCE IN INDIA<\/font> has also been brought under
\nthe same cover. The essays contained in this book appeared serially in the
\nArya<\/i> from August to November 1918. The book was first published in 1920 and
\nreprinted in 1937,1946,1951 and 1966.<\/p>\n

        A few photographic
\nreproductions of Indian architecture, sculpture and painting have been added to
